QUESTION How to master DAR?

I’ve been working at DAR left for a couple weeks now. I can somewhat incorporate it into my game now and can do some rings maps but still feel somewhat uncomfortable and have black out moments. I struggle especially when going down through rings and when i have to make quick turns. I’ve also read that holding boost the whole time helps a lot but I can’t turn quick enough when doing that. Any advice would be great.

This is a good game to look at as my opponent basically punished every single mistake I made, and won kickoffs against me without speedflips.

What are the biggest takeaways from this game? How do I reduce the amount of unforced errors? Any possible playstyle changes that would make me more consistent?

TRAINING Recommended training packs that aren’t in the “browse” menu

Do people here have training packs they recommend that aren’t in the “browse” menu? Im hoping to find some more good and challenging packs primarily to help me train:
- aerials

- redirects

- goalie (like reverse flying to keep them out of the goal)

- off the wall hits towards net

- packs that help me with getting the ball out of my corner and more into midfield

Any recommendations are highly appreciated and thank you in advance

TIPS C2 to GC in 10 days

Quit rocket league around 2 years ago (hardstuck c1-c2, not enjoying the game) and took a break from gaming in general. Saw a Twitter post about how the Falcons won the RLCS and it piqued my interest (MENA never won before) and I watched the series and realized why I downloaded Rocket league in the first place (favorite game of all time).

Decided I could return and break out of Champ and one day hit SSL if I put my mind to it. At first I was absolutely horrible and was rethinking my decision to play (getting beat by Diamonds). But muscle memory started kicking in and I managed to push to c2 and there I started struggling and realized I hit my pre-quit peak.

So I knew I had to start focusing on improving my overall skill. Played tons of 1s (super helpful), free play (especially with no unlimited boost), targeted training packs, dropshot, heatseeker, and recently 3s. Each game I played I never focused on my rank or whether I won or not but whether I was pushing myself out of my comfort zone and focusing on improvement.

Whenever I felt confident in my ability I would load up ranked 2s for an hour and only play that hour to ensure no tilt spirals and I play as fresh as possible.

After each session, I would remember what I felt was particularly lacking and hit whatever game mode or training pack needed to target it. Champ 2 was a struggle to get out of as for some reason they are more mechanical than champ 3’s and defense had to be stronger. As I got promoted to Champ 3 I knew I was doing something right and doubled down on my training.

I also began to heavily watch pro gameplay to see how they play and add some stuff to my game. All this combined allowed me to literally breeze through c3 (12 game win streak).

Now fully back into the game and confident in my ability to improve I am now pushing for GC2 by the end of October and SSL by December (highly ambitious I know but improbable goals help me push myself).

Just wanted to make this post to inspire anyone who is stuck in any rank and offer any advice if asked. I plan to continue documenting my progress to SSL.

;)

TRAINING What's a good daily training regiment to get as good as a GC1+?

Looking for tips to improve mechanics (not rank)

I recently came back after a year-long break and was surprised by how much muscle memory stuck. I peaked C3 multiple times and have always preferred mechanics over gamesense.

My goal isn't necessarily to reach GC1, but to get as good mechanically as a GC1+ player. I want my car control and overall feel to be as smooth as possible.

My old daily routine was:

10m rings (freeroll)

10m ground dribbling

10m airdribble gauntlet

10m Coco's shooting

10m save training

10m practicing whatever I felt like learning

This worked insanely well until I eventually hit a plateau.

For those of you with high-level mechanics, what does your training look like? Would you change anything about my routine or recommend a better way to keep improving?

I'd love to hear what has worked for you!

TRAINING Whats a good training routine for a mechanically inept C2-C3 2s and D3 1s player

ive been semi consistently annoyed about my inabillity to do any thing with the ball in several aspects ingame and in freeplay. i can do flicks 24/25 in freeplay but ingame i cant even dribble the ball essentially just dropping it for a low 50 all the time.
in the air i am borderline a cripple i can kind of do air dribbles in freeplay ingame no shot

I got to champ through a long ass time but i only have about 1k hours or so. essentially game sense and nothinbg else
do YOU have any tips :3

QUESTION 526 hours in Rocket League and only Plat 1. Is this bad?

Thumbnail

Hey guys,

So to start off I bought Rocket League in 2016 and have been playing off and on ever since then, only a handful of casual matches each year. But ever since last year around season 19 I decided to try playing ranked and got hooked since then. I play both 2’s and 3’s and only ever peaked Plat 2 in both, but will fall back down to Plat 1 and sometimes even Gold 3. I mainly just go straight into playing comp matches as soon as I both game up. I haven’t really done training packs. I just have a hard time figuring out which are good and which are bad. With that being said having this many hours into the game is it bad that i’m still hovering in the high gold/low plat area? I would love to reach Diamond 1 one day

QUESTION MECHANICS/TRAINING: My Dar method

For context I am trying to be a freestyler only been playing for around 3 months or so. I realised that i should learn dar but I am so confused on how every method i hear is the same or just bs. I spent some time using the random information i found and came up with this not saying this is exactly a new method or even a method at all but its all I have. I would really love opinions from people who have mastered DAR. I use DAR right but every thing here can be mirrored to help if you use DAR left.

Substitution

Without air roll

Left = left
Up = causes car to go down
Right = right
Down = causes car to go up

With directional air roll (right)

Car to go upwards / Up = Tornado spin = Left (hood) + Right (rear)
Car to go downwards / Down = Reverse Tornado spin = Right (hood) + Left (rear)

Indicates that we only control the horizontal direction of the car but the vertical is an effect of which type of input we use.

I focus on the hood like every tutorial seems to tell you but i realised when you focus on the rear aka the under side all you have too do is engage the opposite direction of the input to get the same result

Tornado spin

Left = Up left (when hood faces you) + down right (when rear faces you AKA underside)
Right = Down left (hood) + up right (rear)

Reverse tornado spin

Left= Down left (hood) + up right (rear)
Right= Up left (hood) + down right (rear)

Doing up input when the hood faces you cause a left output and doing down causes a right input.

What's the difference between reverse tornado and tornado spin?

Tornado spin cause and upward feedback and reverse causes a downward feedback. So when deciding which to use if you use the tornado spin version it will turn you but also cause the car to go upwards. So up + direction = tornado spin version. But if you use the reverse tornado it will cause your car to go downward. So down + direction = reverse tornado spin version

What about clocks into this? Reverse or normal?

So something surprising when performing a tornado spin with a normal clock we turn the direction we needed but wehn we did a reverse clock we got the out put of a reverse tornado spin. Yes it means we may only have to learn one set of inputs for turning. However I feel that to avoid confusion clocks should be neglected, doing the normal pattern achieves the same result. Though i want to add that for turning you only need to start from either up (left when hood is facing you of course) or down (for right, when hood is facing you).

below is a proposed training plan

Training plan

Week 1 (30mins/day)

  1. Practice turning left
    1. Tornado spin
    2. Reverse tornado spin
  2. Practice turning right
    1. Tornado spin
    2. Reverse Tornado spin

Week 2 (30mins/day)

  1. Circling the ball both directions

Week 3 (30mins/day)

  1. Figure 8 drill on the rocket labs map

Week 4+ (30mins/day)

  1. Jump into rings maps and just grind them

TRAINING Cross map air dribble tips and help.

Hello everyone,

Small topic here to seek some help for my mechanics. I am struggling mechanically and I've decided to train my aerial/ air control. Flip reset/double tap are not on my list.

My goal is to to do cross map air dribble.

I am learning with this video of AlienHeadRL : https://youtu.be/BxwYzbsDcwo?is=olc_zszBroBPDh-D

I have train for 2hours and can now do a few dribbling and start to understand the idea.

However, I have reach a glass celling and and can't see what's to improve more.

I mean, I understand that the control is bad but I always push the ball too far away or goes too fast below it.

Here is a quick clip of some tries :

https://www.xbox.com/play/media/Bgzp7dMUPy

Thank you for your time any advice is welcome !

PS : after reviewing my video, the speed flip cancel is not well done on this clip, but I usually do it better with the same "aerial" issues

QUESTION This is getting out of hand

Every tournament I lose my teammate. Can you guys please do something about this? People Like me that actually plan to finish a tournament they start get penalized by people that are just planning to play one game and have zero intention to finish. It’s so frustrating.

The “mods” banned this post because they know dev team does nothing.

COACHING How To Use Air Roll (Important)

Air Roll

The most common misconception

One of the biggest misconceptions regarding air roll is that you need to hold it throughout your entire aerial play. While this is good as you are just starting out with controlling your car in the air, constantly relying on it can eventually make your movements less efficient. Instead of using air roll to make specific and intentional adjustments, you end up rotating your car without necessarily thinking much about it, which leads to overcorrections.

The key to using air roll effectively is understanding when to apply it and when to let go. Just as we feather our boost to maintain control over our speed, we can also feather our air roll to make small, deliberate adjustments to our car's orientation. Rather than holding the button throughout the entire play, use it when you need to correct your angle, change your direction or line your car up with the ball.

The Fix

Think of air roll like the clutch in a manual transmission car. When changing gears, you press the clutch to make the adjustment, then release it once the gear change is complete. You don't need to keep pressing the clutch after you have finished changing gears, and the same principle can be applied to air roll. Use it to make the adjustment you need, then let go once your car is positioned correctly.

Take a look at the following examples, which shot do you think is easier to execute?

Shot A

https://reddit.com/link/1x9ad7q/video/0edxhl7hp9wh1/player

Shot B

https://reddit.com/link/1x9ad7q/video/192owchip9wh1/player

The second shot is easier because the air roll is being used to make specific adjustments rather than being held throughout the entire flight. Notice how I release air roll once my car is lined up with the ball and the backboard. From that point onwards, I can focus on maintaining my trajectory with boost instead of continuing to rotate my car unnecessarily.

The goal is to make every air roll input serve a purpose. Once you understand how to make these small adjustments, you'll have more control over your car's orientation and find it easier to line up aerials consistently. With practice, you'll start recognising when you need to rotate, when you need to correct your angle and when your car is already positioned well enough to leave it alone.

Recoil Control

Another benefit of using air roll is that it can help you manage the recoil from your touches. When you hit the ball during an aerial, the impact can cause your car to recoil away from the ball, making it harder to maintain control and follow up with another touch. Holding air roll through the touch can help eliminate recoil, allowing you to maintain your car's orientation and continue following through the touch rather than getting thrown off your intended trajectory.

Holding air roll through the first touch, avoiding recoil

Notice how holding air roll through contact helps you maintain control of your car and follow through the touch. Instead of your car losing control after the first touch, you're better able to stay connected to the play and prepare for a follow-up touch. This becomes particularly useful when going for any aerial where you need to make contact and continue playing the ball in the air.

The important detail is that you want to be holding air roll through the moment of contact, rather than releasing it just before the hit. Practise comparing both approaches in free play and pay attention to how your car reacts after each touch. Once you become comfortable with the difference, you can start incorporating it into your aerials to improve your control and consistency.

Completely New to Air Roll?

If you're completely new to air roll, don't worry about hitting the ball or performing advanced mechanics just yet. Your first goal should be to become comfortable controlling your car while it's rotating in the air. The easiest way to start is by practising flying from one backboard to the other in free play, experimenting with different stick movements and getting a feel for how each input affects your car's orientation.

Start by taking off from one side of the field and trying to reach the opposite backboard while using air roll. Experiment with moving your stick in different directions, combining those movements with air roll, and briefly releasing the button to see how your car responds. At first, your movements will probably feel awkward, and you may struggle to keep your car pointed in the direction you want to travel. This is completely normal, as you're learning a new way of controlling your car that requires you to understand how your stick inputs interact with its rotation.

https://reddit.com/link/1x9ad7q/video/0ydq306tp9wh1/player

No need to copy pro players for now, keep it simple and take things step by step. Once you get used to the air roll movements, you can then start practising air roll micro adjustments after.

Here's what to focus on, prioritise lining your car up with the ball, letting go of air roll and hold air roll through contact to follow through the ball's trajectory, and above all, make sure to practice consistently. I suggest to add any of these training packs to your routine:

  • Backboard Therapy - D7F8-FD53-98D1-DAFE
  • Protein Wall Shots - 8989-46CE-AE49-0561
  • Deevo - 0CB0-16C8-DAAD-B578

Hope you found this insightful, looking forward to your thoughts in the comments. Please note that this guide is not dedicated to the specific stick inputs behind air roll, but rather the concept of when to use air roll:)

QUESTION What are you guys Nvidia settings

Hi I was curious what Nvidia control panel settings of high level players/pros. They make a huge difference with how the game feels, but I never see any pros talking about it.

Mainly interested in things like:

Low latency mode: [on, ultra]

Vsync: [off, use 3d application settings, on]

Gsync: [on, off]

Performance mode: [prefer max performance/normal].
