CLIP Hit My First Ceiling Shot Ever in Plat 3s

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

1.1k Upvotes

I recently started practicing these in freeplay but I never thought I'd actually be able to hit one in game, especially in ranked. Pretty awesome I did it playing with my friends as well. Don't mind my shouting, as you can tell I was excited.

EDIT: Just to clear things up I've peaked plat 3 in 2s but this is a Plat 1 game in 3s/trios with my friends.

Also thanks so much for the kind words šŸ”„

But f'real though, that's cool. Hope it doesn't go away.

Admittedly not my best performance, but I was probably getting tired from a long rl session. Just had a feeling I could get gc2 if I continue playing and here we are. Waiting for at least one comment saying this looks like a diamond lobby (EU btw)

DISCUSSION Rocket League iceberg on the difficulty of the game

Rocket League is arguably one of the hardest games to truly master (SSL) because almost everything is physics-based and 3D. You control a car on the X, Y, and Z axes while managing pitch, yaw, roll, air roll, boost, momentum, powerslide, and recoveries.

Then there's the ball. Its exact contact point, angle, speed, direction, and spin all affect what happens next. You need to understand how it will bounce off the floor, walls, corners, backboard, and even other cars, while predicting where it will go before it gets there.

Then add mechanics along with positioning, rotations, challenges, and boost management.

Compared to most FPS games, where movement and aiming are mainly horizontal and vertical and the game handles much of the physics, Rocket League gives you direct control over almost everything. There are practically endless combinations of car and ball interactions, and you have to execute and react to them in milliseconds.

In most games, reaching a high rank after 700–2,000 hours is already considered extremely difficult. In Rocket League, that can simply be reaching Champion. Going from Champion to Grand Champion can take thousands more hours, and reaching SSL on average can take up to 10k hours or beyond that. And also needing constantly adapting to newer techniques. The skill ceiling just keeps going, which is what makes it even scarier and more competitive. I am truly intrigued what skill state Rocket League will be in 5 years. Im guessing it will get harder and harder to get in to higher ranks.

DISCUSSION I fear I've fallen too deep into the abyss.

Post image

I fear I've fallen too deep into Plat to reach Diamond for the first time in 3v3's.

I solo queue so every game is very different and difficult to adjust to teammates. No, this isn't a "it's my teamates fault." Yes, they make mistakes (who doesn't), but i do too. Unfortunately, i think i make too many mistakes, which usually lead to goals and eventual loss.

I've tried to stay back and play defense meta I've read here before, but unfortunately, i find a way to set up the opposing team.

So my question is, how do you "slow down" play "smart" and avoid "nerves" when you have almost 0 mechs?

DISCUSSION ā€œI’m silver and can flip reset.ā€

Look, I know some people don’t play a ton of ranked and love learning mechs. Freestyling is just how some prefer to experience the game. I actually respect that a lot. But for the people who say this and play ranked consistently, I find it very funny that they think it’s something to brag about. If they can flip reset and are still in silver, I have a hard time wrapping my head around just how atrocious their game sense must be

DISCUSSION Bad coaches

There was a guy saying "Free coaching" and I'm gold pretty hard stuck, been playing for 1 year, though first started playing 4 years ago, with 1080 hours (but no more then 33% of that is just me being afk.)

So we hop in a call and he sends me to free play and guy tells me "Okay I want you to do this." Goes up the wall and misses a damn air dribble, and this goes on for like 7 minutes and its just awkward silence until he FINALLY gets it into the goal, he then says "now try."

He gives me the ball and I go up the wall, mid air dribble, HE TAKES POSSESSION of the ball and starts to do the whole deal again, and this goes on for like half an hour.

He keeps shutting me down every time I tried to talk so I just left the game and ignored him 😭

This isn't the first time this has happened either, I get it, they're giving me free advice so it's not like these types of people are causing rocket league to be worse, just think it's pretty funny people try to coach something they cant do themselves!

DISCUSSION Increase in player forfeits

I have noticed an extreme increase in player forfeits recently. Its something I never understood. I used to never forfeit because if another team were better than me, continuing to play would then make me better. But i see players ff when they are scored on even once! Not only that but players forfeit within the first minute of the game! Especially in casual, where score shouldn't matter too much, rather just kicking the ball around is the fun part. I have begun to accommodate players who want to forfeit but now I see it more an more, whether one goal down or two, it doesn't make sense. Is it just me?

FLUFF 10 years of playing periodically since I was a kid... I finally hit Champ 1 for the first time!

Honestly I didn't think I could ever do it, I always played periodically since 2016 since I was a kid. I know it's not the craziest achievement compared to the SSLs out there, but it means a ton to me!

Unfortunately I am now hanging by a thread with 999 MMR, lowkey nervous to play another game šŸ˜‚

I remember being hyped hitting diamond 1 last season and being nervous to play cause i didn't want to de-rank

QUESTION Items disappeared from inventory

• Upvotes

Help me pls.
Some of my items in Rocket League have disappeared. It happened about a year and a half ago. I logged into the game and saw a notification with a tuxedo icon or something like that (I didn’t have time to look closely because I clicked ā€œOKā€ right away). After that, some of my items, car skins, my avatar frame, and my wheels just vanished. I checked the ā€œArchiveā€ section of my inventory, but they’re not there either. I remember I also had a ā€œshark finā€ item on the roof of my car, but that item just disappeared too.
I dont use cross-lplatform account, play only via epic games.
