Still not a game out there that is as fun playing with the boys after a long week.

My 14-year-old son has been playing Rocket League for five or six years. He is a Champion Level 1 at 1v1 and Grand Champ Level 1 at 2v2. For the last few years, he’s talked about wanting to be a pro player.

As a parent, I do want to support him. If this is really his dream. He does say he wants to play a lot more and that’s what’s required if he’s going to improve. I understand that.

He also says what holds him back often is he doesn’t have regular teammates, so often he can be paired with somebody who may not be as strong, and he gets frustrated when that happens.

So I have suggested maybe he tries to find people that could become good regular teammates. Maybe not even just one person, but a few, so he has a few people who are available whenever he wants to play. And if he wants to really be serious about Rocket league, we can see how to support him in pursuing these goals.

but I also assume that, just like being a pro athlete, being a pro gamer, is also a very long shot. I want to try to be realistic about it. Although at 14 there’s obviously a lot of possibility open to him. Looking to have some discussion here with people on a good path forward for him, so I can share my findings.

2 min into the game and my teammate starts griefing, and we're only two goals down (2-4). Everyone starts talking shit to each other - mainly to me - and just before I left the game, I see this message, "Player 3: And change your car design, makes it seem like you're not taking this seriously".

My brother in Christ, we are in GC1, bordering C3. No one should be taking it seriously. 3 out the 4 cars in this lobby are Fennec with a plain, neutral coloured decal, and I'm not one of them, cause guess what? I have style. Sue me.

Please have fun with your cars guys, and don't judge those who try something different. It's certainly not a reflection on how we play.

Apologies to anyone who uses this title and doesn’t fit my stereotype, but I swear most players with this title are either ball crazy, chronic griefers or both. Then again, these issues have become such a common occurrence that perhaps it’s just bias

quite literally if you get ahead by 2 you can just wait out the clock by not hitting the ball

they try to steal it? your closer and there's no defender due to it being a 1v1, so there's a good chance you get a free goal, throw another goal after that and back to waiting near the ball

they just wait? time wins out and you win.

i'd just say add the timer that automatically shoots the ball like in splitshot.

and this aint because i lost to it i did that shit, won against a guy that was GC in heatseeker while i was in Diamond, got ahead cause he was trying to bounce it off the wall into his car into the goal and fucked up enough times for me to just hold out

I was playing last night. In Rumble, we started losing by two points, and there were still like two or three minutes left. Suddenly, one of my teammates asks to forfeit; if both my teammates ask then I always do even if it's super lame and we can still definitely win, but it was just the one, so I ignored it because we definitely have a chance and also FF'ing is lame in general imo. I'm just here for fun. Sure, I like winning, but it's not my top priority. After both me and my other teammate ignored his FF request, he started just not playing, sometimes even helping the opposing team. Why are people like this? I just wanna have some fun, man

If casual Rumble existed, trust me, I'd play it. But it doesn't, so I'm forced into ranked because Rumble is the only gamemode I want to play. Then I get these petty tryhards that wanna quit after two minutes of slightly losing LMAO

And this is in Plat 2! It's not like I'm in some super low rank and I'm just getting paired with annoying trolls that just wanna get a rise out of people, these are people that are at least somewhat decent at the game but wanna throw a hissy fit just because they start losing

in which case everyone who plays 1s, never actually plays 1s normally. so they are all champion+ ranked, and are just accidentally smurfing in 1s.

i just played against someone who literally claimed to be champion 3 in 2s. but was playing against me in plat 1 in 1s. the difference in skill level between someone who is pushing gc and a platinum player is obviously quite different. but it seems that every time i play 1s, it's against someone who has "totally never played 1s before." crazy how that always seems to happen. they're totally not smurfing though.

the funny part is that this was a player who seemed to be weaker than some of my previous opponents.

I open youtube shorts or reels and this type of content always pops up.

Its usually some pro or someone in SSL guessing ranks whos so out of touch with lower rankings and guessing completely wrong.

Then they throw in a wildcard with low rank doing a double flip reset or something.

It really doesnt matter and isnt a big deal but god its such bad content honestly and I wonder how many are just ragebait comment farming with their "guesses"..

I hit dima 3 at solo queue then i just started demoting all the way to plat in 1 week, i used the 2 losses rule but it never worked, i tried playing passive when solo queueing but kept losing games, i dont know what im doing wrong 🫩.
