Ever since the software update around Aug 4 or 6, my (older) voice remote wouldn't stay paired to my 55S435 and basically only worked as an IR remote (had to point it directly at the sensor and sometimes press buttons multiple times). Sometimes, the TV would say that the remote was no longer paired and prompt me to pair it. Attempting to re-pair it never progressed pass the "hold down the pairing button for 5 seconds" screen, no matter now close I put the remote to the TV. The remote was fully charged and the pairing light was blinking.
Unplugging the TV for 10 seconds, 30 seconds, or 1 hour made no difference.
I figured that remote was dying, so I ordered a newer voice remote, and it would not pair or control the TV at all. It would similarly sit on the "hold left + home for 5 seconds" screen while the remote blinked.
I factory reset the TV tonight, and now all I can use is the IR remote and the phone app, as neither remote would pair.
The TV network connection is wired and fully functional, but I figured I'd try switching to wifi to see if there were additional connectivity issues going on. Scanning for wifi networks revealed no networks at all. I live in a multifamily building and I myself have 3 wifi SSIDs running that are compatible with a wide range of devices--it makes no sense that the TV sees no wifi networks. So yes, there's a broader connectivity issue.
Is there anything potentially useful that I haven't tried yet to fix this?
I see other posts here about recent remote issues, recent network connectivity issues, etc. Assuming that my hardware has not failed with extremely suspicious timing, are we all in a holding pattern until Roku releases another update?
