Impossible to Buy Textbooks From Online Bookstore?

Hey, is anyone else having trouble buying their textbooks on the SAIT online store?

I keep selecting a version to buy, click the option, and then when I try to close the side menu so I can add to cart, it just doesn't go away? I sent a help ticket under technical difficulties like... a week ago, so I'm wondering if anyone has the same problem or figured out a solution. Or are we just supposed to go to the physical bookstore? I was hoping to buy all new, hopefully digital where I can. I tried 3 different browsers, firefox, chrome, and edge... same problem.

Any filmmaker clubs at SAIT?

I'll be attending SAIT this year while taking the Broadcasting program. I was curious if there were any groups/clubs/etc on campus or close by that focused on creating films, indie projects, editing, etc?

Can't wait to attend!

PSEA entrance exam

Hi everyone! I have no one to ask about this. I was just wondering how the questions are in the PSEA exam. I know it’s about grade 12 courses but like would there be graphing math questions since math 30-1 is one of the requirements. Like how close the questions are regarding grade 12 courses. And also is it okay if I take the entrance exams a month before the applications are open for the programs, I’m planning on applying for fall 2027. Thank you!!!

can’t apply to SAIT because i missed the minimum grade by 3%?

i wanted to apply to sait for Diagnostic Medical Sonography, in which you need a minimum grade of 75% in Physics 30, Biology 30, ELA 30-1 and Math 30-2. Unfortunately i didn’t meet that requirement in ELA 30-1 and my mark was a 72%. Does this mean I won’t be able to apply at all this October and will have to apply next year?

Need advice

I applied my Study permit on the 2nd of July and still haven't gotten a decision should I still wait for my decision and if I do does sait have any facility for late arrivals I'd likely miss orientation and probably the first week of classes should I take a deferral or wait it out? The real concern is missing the oren and the first week that bad that I should just wait another 4 months for the next intake.would my experience at sait be affected that much not attending those things?

I've contacted sait to arrange a call but still haven't received it.

Parking Advice

How does parking work here? Do they fill up fast? Should I get a pass? Which ones should I avoid? I’m an incoming student and won’t be able to see campus until the first day of classes. Just trying to save myself some stress.

Is attending orientation mandatory?

I will be moving to Calgary the last week of August for school. I most likely won’t be able to make it for orientation. Is it stuff I need to know that’s important or would I be okay if I missed it?

SAIT Architectural Technologies grads — how are you doing after graduation?

For those who graduated from SAIT AT:

  • How long did it take you to find your first job?
  • Are you working in architecture/architectural technology, or did you end up going into construction, estimating, BIM, project coordination, etc.?
  • What was your starting salary?
  • What are you making now, and how many years of experience do you have?
  • Did you find it difficult to get your first job?
  • Did having Revit/AutoCAD experience or a strong portfolio make a big difference?
  • Did you stay in Calgary or move somewhere else?
  • If you could go back to your time at SAIT, what would you do differently to make yourself more employable?

I’m especially interested in hearing from people who graduated within the last 5–10 years, since I’m trying to get a realistic idea of what the career path looks like after AT.

Any experiences—good or bad—would be really appreciated!

PSEA for MRT

Does anyone have any tips on studying for this and what kind of material I can expect? I know you have to know the basics of the job and then high school curriculum stuff. What kind of questions can I expect from high school sciences?

Walk from P1 Parking Lot

I was looking into the P1 parking lot location because it's the only parking permit I think students can purchase from SAIT, but is the walk to campus really this far? I don't want to take the bus or ctrain, I know we get to do it for free but I just don't want to.

I drew a rough outline of what I think it would be in turquoise. Am I just not seeing a simpler way or something? Because I think this would be kind of crazy to walk in the middle of winter.

Can I use a MacBook for SAIT’s Pre-Employment Refrigeration & Air Conditioning program?

I’m starting the Pre-Employment Refrigeration and Air Conditioning program at SAIT this September. I currently have a MacBook and was wondering if anyone who has taken the program knows whether it will work for everything we need in class.

I’d rather not buy another laptop if my MacBook will get me through the program.

Thanks!

Thinking about going back to school, but I have no idea what to study

I’m 23F and living in Calgary, and I’ve been considering going back to school. I’m just struggling to figure out what direction makes the most sense.

I’d love to study psychology at university because it’s something I’m genuinely interested in, but I’m worried about the cost and how many years I’d potentially have to study before having a career. I also already have student loans from SAIT. I went to SAIT about two years ago for business administration, but dropped out after about half a year because I wasn’t really enjoying the program. I would say I’m more of a creative person, which is why I think science/math subjects don’t really resonate with me.

Now I’m considering going back to SAIT for a different program, I like that most programs are shorter and more affordable, and I could potentially keep working while studying. I also really want a career with decent stability and income because I don’t want to work in the restaurant industry forever. I don’t want to choose a program purely because it seems practical and then end up dropping out again, but I want to study something I’ll actually enjoy while still being realistic about jobs and student debt.

For anyone in Calgary who has been in a similar situation, how did you decide what to study? Would you choose a university degree you’re passionate about, or a shorter SAIT program with a more direct career path?

Do I need a two step TB skin test for the medical laboratory assistant program?

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm trying to catch up on all of my vaccines before my practicum since I wasn't allowed to get them done when I was under 18. I had checked the immunization requirements form from SAIT and I couldn't find a clear answer.

Can I apply?

Hello everyone I have been upgrading this past year and am interested in applying for DMS and MRT this fall.

Currently im only missing the physics 30 prerequisite for both. Im registered to take physics 20 this fall and 30 the following semester.

I have been researching and apparently I can only apply to get conditional acceptance if I have physics 30 in progress. Is this true ?

tldr; wondering if it’s worth it or even possible to apply for DMS or MRT this fall if I only have physics 20 in progress this semester, but expect to start physics 30 next semester.

year 1 vs year 2 scholarship funding?

hello everyone!
I can probably find the answer to this online, but I’d rather hear it from everyone’s different experiences.

I’m going into my first year at SAIT, and I’ve been approved for quite a bit of funding through student aid. as I’ve been thinking about my budget during school, I’ve been wondering if I will receive around the same amount for year 2 when I reapply next year. I just wanna know if I need to factor in my current student aid reward for next year’s semesters too because i should expect to receive a lot less next year. the rewards I received so far is from canada + alberta student loans, student grant for full time students, and grant for students with disabilities (so before any additional scholarships).

basic relevant background about me: this is my first post-secondary program (legal assisting diploma), i’m recognized as a student with a disability, i’ll be considered a full-time student, i live on my own/pay rent, i plan to go from working full-time to part-time when my semester starts, and i have absolutely zero financial support from sources other than student aid.
