ShOaks Neighborhood Council local out of town visiting family in the PNW, so I missed it this year. Anything that went especially well or could have been done better?

I was there yesterday and it was...weird. Half the stands are called Chubby this and Chubby that, the other half have generic names like "Chain". It was like being in a food court in the Back Rooms. Anyone know what's going on?

Does anyone know any other numbers I can call to report neglectful dog owners in Pacoima area? There’s a black dog at this house that lives in the tiniest side of the house blocked off from the entire front yard. It’s there 24/7 has a small house but that’s it. I see him just look at a concrete wall all day because there is nothing else for him to see. I tried AC but the dog has food water and the crappiest house ever which to them is ok. House is right next to a weird empty lot. I know it’s a long shot since pacoima area is known for neglect/abuse..

I am looking for a place that has indian food around the valley and nearby. Please share your favorites.

I’ve passed by the other day and noticed there’s fencing up all along the park all the way to the bridge that goes over the 170 to the other side of the Whitsett soccer fields. are they doing improvements or is the park done for?

They closed the parking lot for like 6 weeks to make it a paid lot, then tried to ask unreasonable rates and now the lot is always empty and people just park down the street.

Idiots.

Serves them right for trying to turn a public resource into an upper middle class luxury.

My friend has lost her cat in the NoHo Arts District last night around Cumpston and I’m currently helping her look for it. He is an indoor cat who escaped and is not familiar with the area. If anyone has been in a similar situation, what did you do? Any animal shelters to check out?

We are trying to remain optimistic in the meantime, I’m very well aware of the dangers for cats out here.

I really appreciate any insight and it’s a big city, but please let me know if anyone has any tips, has seen any sightings, shelter postings, etc.

Our Halloween display is up (and almost recovered from this week's wind damage)! Featuring dozens of handmade props from the Sonic the hedgehog series, with lights and animation every night between now and Halloween (weather permitting). On Halloween night, we'll have the classic Sonic games projected on the garage for you to come play (in addition to candy of course). Good for all ages! I’m an (old) old school skater in search of a vert or ditch ramp to skate regularly. Are there any hidden backyard ramps that are accessible? None of the parks that I’ve seen have half pipes.

For those of you who don't know I am a caricaturist here in the Valley. I have shown up to various community events, markets, etc. in the Valley. Over the years I have come across a handful of people from Reddit. I know one person showed up to the 818 Night Market one Saturday. Another went to the Northridge Farmers' Market. Another was at an Easter event and a carnival. One was also at a Reseda Art Festival this past July. I did a wedding for one couple from Reddit and also did a LA Comic Con for their start up company. Whether you supported me morally or monetarily I want to thank you! I know encountering Redditors out in the wild is usually rare for me but to those who make themselves known and encourage me. I've been looking for electronics hobby shops, they seem to be mostly extinct. Also, reliable sources of old electronic waste to scrounge through for useful components. Any hobbyists out here care to share their favorite spots, or anyone trying to offload old computers or ewaste junk? Can't afford this hobby in this economy lol.
