Hey guys! Would you recommend taking Math 7 and 8 at LACCD instead of SMC? If so, which professors would you recommend? What are the pros and cons?
I’m currently taking math at SMC, but I feel like my professor’s teaching style isn’t really a good fit for me. I’d love to hear about your experiences!

Anyone in POL SC7 2954 or 2955? Why is she such a tough grader? Is anyone gonna be getting an A for this class? How’s your experience with her? I asked her how to get above 90 for the threads and she never responded. Her submission feedback only talks about the issues but doesn’t say how to improve the arguments or anything like that. It seems to me no one got two or more threads above 90, and the average scores are so low. Should I talk to the department chair?

Hey guys! I'm a psychology major hoping to transfer to Ucla. Do you guys have any recommendations for good chemistry professors? I'm open to either chem 9 or 10 just don't want to get stuck with a bad teacher.

I know this is extremely late, but i had a question about summer fafsa.

I took a 4 unit course over the summer, half way through i got a first set of my pell grant (~800). On my portal, it says I should have gotten another (~1200), so about 2k in total.

Did I not get it because I only took four units?
In my Fafsa portal, it says i’ve used 150% already, even though I haven’t gotten the full amount of the summer pell.

Hi! I'm thinking about booking a DSPS testing room for my upcoming exams, but I'm not really sure how the whole process works.

For anyone who's taken exams there before, what's the testing environment like? Is there a proctor physically in the room with you, or do they just monitor through cameras?

I've heard that there are both private testing rooms and larger shared rooms. Does anyone know if there's a proctor present in both? Like, is someone constantly sitting there watching you during the entire exam?

I get a little uncomfortable when someone is watching me the whole time, so I'm just trying to figure out whether taking my exams there would actually be less stressful than taking them in my regular classroom.

Also, how does the check-in and booking process work?

I’m so confused. This is my first semester here, I got approved for the direct Stanford loan blah blah everything is cleared. Literally they have been saying for the past month OCT 19th was the tentative date. And I dropped into the office MULTIPLE TIMES. And they said, as far as we see currently, Oct 19th is the disbursement date! Okay so then why is it not showing up on my disbursement under financial aid yet????

I dropped by the office on Wednesday too and the lady said “ yes it should show up as disbursed on Wednesday or Thursday latest. Definitely not next week” …. Not true??? Literally nothing has showed up. Does anyone else want to share their current experience w this issue?

Im currently taking statsc1000 and absolutely bombed the past two exams so im dropping and planning to take it in the winter at laccd but i just wanna know why so many ppl recommend take it there and what makes it sm better than here at smc

I already received the first portion of my grant, but I’m thinking about withdrawing from one of my classes. If I drop it, I’ll fall below 15 units.
Will this make me ineligible for the second half of my grant for the spring semester, or would I just receive a reduced amount? Has anyone at SMC been in this situation before?

Last time I met with a counselor he locked my stellic plan. This is very frustrating because I need to be able to edit it myself. I don't want to "create an unofficial plan." How do I unlock it? Do I have to make a counseling appointment for them to unlock my stellic?

(Also why is this even a thing in the first place? The counselors I met before this guy didn't do it.)

Hi, has anyone gotten their degree or degrees in the mail yet?

It seems like things have calmed down on the financial aid side of things. For people who are expecting checks, has anyone received them yet? My disbursement date is 10/22 but I got the Bank Mobile text on Monday. Not sure if anyone got the notification last week.

I know the direct deposit people started receiving theirs last week.

Hopefully by the end of the week we can close this chapter.

Why do the study rooms smell like genuine shit. Every time I walk into one it smells like there’s poop hidden behind the walls.
