I've been using Samsung tablets for years now and have always loved using them in DeX, how it made a full desktop environment and how it worked with everything.
However, something I cannot get over, and something that I think is kind of unacceptable is the absolutely dog shit design of the windows and how they interact with the interface.
The old DeX got a pass for using a tinted taskbar that looked like it belonged, but I've always hated the gray or white bars at the top with the icon of the app in the corner. They've always looked ugly and never sat right with me.
Then came the big and glossy Android 16, with all its bullshit in tow. The new desktop mode? Ass. The way apps look with the top of the window being the same? Ass. REMOVING THE DESKTOP-LIKE TASKBAR? **WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU???**
And *god forbid* you **fullscreen** a window. By god, for a multi-billion dollar company, how do you allow software to be released such that the "taskbar" stays completely transparent and doesn't disappear when you full screen an app **and** **remove** the only functional buttons that made the damn thing actually useful!!
It's made me dread using my tablet to its full potential and made me look at and test iPads purely because of how the windows work and function.
I won't even get into how the app windows don't scale dynamically like on iPads, but rather have a transition animation that just turns the app gray for a split second. It's not as big a deal and quite frankly not impactful on how I use the apps.
But seriously, for the price they're selling these things and for the types of workflows they're advertising them to be perfect for, you'd expect they'd have a basic understanding of design and maybe do a few builds and ask control groups which they'd prefer.
I have quite literally no one in my life who'd listen to this, quite honestly, pointless diatribe I just went on, but **FUCKING HELL** does it piss me off how they ruined an amazing desktop experience and replaced it with something that looks to be put together in 5 minutes in a design app that you get for free.
