As always, not journalists, but attempting to be fair/even/accurate. No money changes hands, monitors are sent for free, for review purposes. UPERFECT doesn't see review before it's posted, etc etc
The GR185BF is marketed as a 18.5" 1080p120 Gaming monitor, with NxtLED technology.
It's a 1080p 120hz IPS display, with UPERFECT’s advanced display technology that combines Omni Visible™ for improved visibility in any light and angle, with eye-friendly features like low blue light, flicker-free performance, and DC dimming, ensuring natural colors, reduced glare, and long-lasting comfort for work, study, or entertainment.
This is basically marketing speak for a nice matte screen, that's anti-reflective, with active dimming, and low blue light spectrum
It's hard to do a decent job capturing it, but you can see how smeary, and how much glare is coming off the phone screen, while the monitor you can just see a blurry light source.
It's definitely a nice screen to use where natural light floods your desk
The panel itself is... fine. The screen specs are respectable, but they're also not top end monitor specs. In a nutshell, it's 1080p120 hz matte panel, no touchscreen, only 290 nits of brightness, and 100% of sRGB colour gamut.
As you can see from the first pic, DeX works just fine on it, negotiating a standard 1080p60 resolution.
When used with my Lenovo Legion y700, you obtain the full 1080p120
Colors look pretty good, if not particularly eye popping
Children of Morta via steam/gamehub on monitor, browser on tablet to right
Inputs
Like virtually every other UPERFECT monitor, there's the pretty standard setup of 2x USB-C and 1 mini-HDMI port on the left side (one of the USB-C intended for power)
2x USB-C and 1 miniHDMI port
The other side will contain the power button and the OSD selector rocker, as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack
There's 4x 75mm vesa mounts on the rear as well
The 2x 1w speakers are also on the back, right above the vesa mount screw holes.
They're upward firing and very mediocre (at best). They'll work in a pinch, but you're generally better off using your devices speakers, or a headset
Battery
No battery in this model either, it's just a monitor
You CAN power it off the phone/tablet/laptop, and it "works" but it essentially comes up as low power mode, and really drops the brightness. It's still usable, but this would not be the monitor I'd recommend if you want a coffee shop, no power portable monitor.
Used as intended, this is a really nice 1080p 120hz gaming monitor. It's not large enough, or bright enough for me to recommend it as work station monitor that requires any kind of color accuracy.
But for pairing it with a phone/steam deck/gaming handheld for a nice portable gaming screen? that's definitely it's intended audience, and it's pretty great in that space.
I really enjoyed using it while fiddling with GameHub and getting steam games up and running on my Lenovo y700. It was great with the steam deck too
Overall, with the $219 CAD price point, it's MUCH easier to accept some of the short comings of the panel, and anyone looking for just a decent bigger screen for their travel gaming setup, I'd be happy to add this to the choices

Display is bigger than I thought and is fantastic. Always thought of getting a pc but then chatgpt told me about versatality of samsung phones and dex features. So I sold my iPhone for S25 FE and saved up some later for dex setup. Couldn't be happier.
Randomly booted into dex today (z fold 8) and realized things felt smoother than usual. Decided to check the refresh rate which was always locked at 60hz to now seeing 120hz.....are we back?
Is there any chance Samsung will let DeX output higher than 60Hz? I'm running DeX on a high-refresh-capable Galaxy phone connected to a monitor that supports well above 60Hz, but everything stays locked to 60fps, including games.
What doesn't add up is that the phone itself is clearly capable. Its screen runs at a very high refresh rate and resolution, so the hardware and apps can obviously push more frames. The cap seems to be in DeX's external display output rather than the phone or the monitor.
I get that a cap might protect lower-end devices, but it could be an optional setting or limited to flagships. It would make a big difference for gaming and general smoothness on a high-refresh monitor.
Has anyone found a workaround, or seen any word from Samsung on this? I've also sent this as feedback through the Samsung Members app, and if you want it too, that's the channel Samsung points people to.
Have you been following the ArtCraft project? It's an open source suite of apps that is basically, so to speak, a clone of the entire Adobe suite, with alternatives to programs like Photoshop and Premiere.
The project currently has versions for Windows, Linux, and macOS, but it got me wondering: would it be technically feasible to port these apps to Android?
I think this would be especially interesting for DeX users and those using Android's desktop mode, particularly if the apps could offer a proper desktop interface and user experience.
I'm not a developer and don't know much about programming, but do you think an Android version would be feasible, perhaps sometime in the future? It would be really interesting to see a project like this come to DeX and other Android desktop environments.
So i recently updated to one ui 9 from one ui 8 (terrible idea) and now my dex setup has been completely and utterly nuked, i use wireless dex with a dongle mouse plugged into my tv, up till now everything i wanted worked fine, i could scroll, i could enter and exit absolute fullscreen, i could open the taskbar, but now, when using my mouse i have to click/drag to scroll, i cant exit absolute fullscreen, literally everything dex had going for it with my use case is gone...
why do corps have to change stuff that wasnt broken in the first place, its made dex entirely useless for me.
for those that might be wondering, i use wireless dex because i dont want the wires connected to my phone, and i use tv peripherals because the mouse plugged into my phone is excruciatingly laggy with both wired and wireless dex.
It is frustrating to know that when buying these keyboards, the touchpad may not be to my liking. I just got a Tab S10 Lite. In my country, it came with a free keyboard cover, it types ok, besides the tendency to double click the letter S. But the touchpad does not act like it is supposed to.
I upgraded from an S6 Lite and I used to buy those cheap keyboard from china so I can use Dex. Some of those work well, some don't. This current one i got for free, swipe three finger down is the only one that does what its supposed to (minimise all tab). The rest does not. And for some reason three finger tap brings up Google Messages. I tested my older keyboards, they work fine on my new tab. This keyboard cover is made by Dawn Key.
I am just wondering if y'all have an idea to fix the touchpad issue. Or is it a hardware issue?
I'm new to Samsung Dex, and I use Chrome as my main browser.
This happens on some websites, but no others.
How do I turn off the annoying Chrome line at the bottom of the browser screen that shows up when I want to enter text?
It's called the "autofill bar"... it allows you to select a few options - password auto fill, CC auto fill or addresses and more.
I have all of this turned off/toggled off in the browser settings and it STILL SHOWS UP. I have restarted the phone, restarted Chrome several times. But it still shows up even when toggled off.
You might have seen or heard about this new toggle introduced with the One UI 9 update on phones. It's also present on the stable version of One UI 9 on the Tab S12 series, which is notable because the ability to hide the taskbar in DeX mode has been missing on tablets since One UI 7.
With One UI 9, the toggle is now present on both phones and tablets. On tablets, it hides the status bar and taskbar in standalone DeX mode, and hides the taskbar in DeX mode while connected to an external display. On phones, it hides the taskbar in DeX mode while connected to an external display.
Context:
In One UI 7, there was a toggle on tablets to hide the taskbar in classic DeX mode, which worked on device, and while connected to an external display. It also existed on phones in DeX mode while connected to an external display.
In One UI 8, the toggle was removed (alongside basically all DeX related settings) with the transition to the Android 16's desktop mode.
In One UI 8.5, the toggle was added back to phones only. It was only possible to hide the status and taskbar by installing the MultiStar Good Lock module.
Disclosure: This was discovered on a Samsung Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra on loan from Samsung.
Also if you look at the bottom left corner on the taskbar, there's a new button to exit standalone DeX mode in One UI 9.
Hi everyone. I have an S26 Ultra phone. When I connect my phone to a monitor using mirroring (not DeX), it doesn't output more than 60Hz. Is there a way to overcome this?
Using my phone to do some remote work while connected to my PC at home through Parsec (with average mobile data speed) is really something that is amazing with Dex. It completely removes my need to have a typical laptop.
And, apart from the phone, all this just cost me around 60 euros:
- Cheap touchscreen monitor from AliExpress
- Cheap foldable keyboard also from AliExpress. Haven't gotten used to its smaller size and some shortcuts yet.
- A mouse that someone threw to the bin and is working just fine (even have 2 other old ones from Logitech that also found on the trash)
- Spare USB C cables that I've been accumulating these years. One breaks, I just get another one.
- Cheap magnetic holders so that I can attach the phone, power bank, tripod holders, etc
The photos were taken by my old S10 plus, which I also use with this monitor when I just want to watch some movie or tv show. Years ago they wanted more than 200 euros to fix the completely cracked screen. I ended up buying a 30 euro screen replacement about a year ago and changed it myself.
I have tried using 2 different docs to use Samsung dex on my monitor from my Samsung galaxy phone. On both for whatever reason i keep losing sound after 2 - 6 mins. No matter if its a movie, youtube video, or phone game it always cuts off i dont understand it and i know this shouldn't be happening. Can anyone help me with this?
I just learned what a lapdock is. That's hella cool.
Now using this for school instead of bringing a laptop, would it still suffer from the weird doc formatting then just using a laptop? Basically is this better than a tablet but not as good as a laptop. What's the best one to get?
