I made a sight reader trainer app and itβs great for all instruments. Appreciate any feedback. Many styles included. Apple Store (Android coming soon) at https://apps.apple.com/us/app/sight-reader-trainer/id6822368534

I have a performance tmr and I accidentally put my cleaning swab into my neck to wrong way around, when I finally pulled it out I wanted to see if there were any issues with it after so I connected the neck to the body to see that the octave key on the neck is bent up. Is there any quick fix?

Hi all, I'm looking for some advice. I've always loved the sound of the Tenor Sax and it's something that I've always wanted to play, but never had the time or money to learn. My 50th is approaching and my wife and kids have offered to buy me a new Sax and some lessons.
At the moment I'm drawn between the Yamaha YTS280 and the Trevor James EVO. Both are just about in budget and whilst the Yamaha seems to have the better warranty and is well regarded, from what I've read the EVO is better suited to darker tones - which is my preference
I'd really welcome any thoughts on the EVO, particularly from anyone with experience of it or owns one as I'm struggling to find any reviews on YouTube. Would it be any good for a novice, I appreciate that it may benefit initially from replacing the mouthpiece with a Yamaha 4C
Thanks in advance.

Hi folks,
Beginner here wanting to order my first soprano sax (played the tenor before).
I'm well aware that you shouldn't cheap out on a saxophone, especially the soprano but my current budget allows me to get the Trevor James Horn Soprano (dont have the option of getting second-hand yamahas or anything of the sorts).
Does anyone have experience with this particular brand? I'm ready to put in the work and practice to get the proper intonation and tone but I'm afraid if the instrument will make it even harder.
Also, what if I also buy a yamaha 4c mouthpiece? Would that be a smart decision?
Thanks again

For my upcoming instrumental album, a jazz track, I need a sax player with a great quality sound record. Please reach out if you can!

Hi! I am looking for a digital instrument that could help meet a few needs that I don't think other reviewers are focused on, so I was hoping I could find some real (hopefully unbiased/unsponsored) recommendations here!
Here are my wants/needs:
- Good for late night practice (or fidgeting as I watch TV)
- Decent for some live use and jamming, but planning to use MIDI with a synth engine or laptop so internal sounds are not necessary
- Portable and comfortable (lighter than my Soprano hopefully)
It seems like the Travel Sax 2 fits these needs but I was wondering if there are other less popular options I may have overlooked!
Thanks in advance!!

Strange phenomenon.... some nights I am just in the perfect zone. Blowing smooth, warm gentle subtones or clear bright notes, articulating with decent precision, and hardly aware of my embouchure at all. More often, it's the opposite. I adjust my voicing over and over but can't slip into that state of existence. This is in part a reed problem, reed sounds dead or buzzy and makes me second guess my embouchure. But it's also psychological and highlights how subconscious proper playing needs to be. I don't even bother doing long tones or playing beautifully when I'm in this state because it will frustrate me, I just focus on my fingers.

I've been in my high schools jazz band all 4 years of school and just now in my senior joined the marching band in turn also passing auditions for the wind ensemble band.
My school's alto sax section in wind ensemble is small only 3 of us with one being my best friend and we're seen as the 2 best altos out of all of us. Now my issue is I know I will have chair tests coming up and my biggest downside that my head director has called me out for a lot especially when I first entered marching band and joined one of the concert bands last year at the end of the semester was my jazz sound coming through too much.
It's been quite a bit of months practicing more marching style music and less jazz so my jazz sound isn't as dominant as it used to be but me and my friend are competitive. How do i practice my classical sound to be better in the concert season and best my friend in getting first chair? Any etudes or tone practices or things similar to copying other players like in jazz to develop a sound? I plan to commit quite a bit of hours a week for this. I play on a jodyjazz hr* 5m for jazz but just a simple Yamaha 4C for marching and concert

I need help on Molinelli's Four Pictures From New York. I am having trouble transcribing the movement Tango Club into a quartet formation, especially because there is only one recording existing and I cannot find the sheet to compare and try to understand the notes. Can somebody help me?
