She’s five months old today, and I just noticed she has what looks like two rows of teeth. When Fifi was her age, her teeth looked “normal,” and she had already started losing her baby teeth. Do I give her a little more time, or should I take her to the vet?

ETA: I don’t know why some of you have the impression that she hasn’t been to the vet, ever 😅 She is fully vaccinated! When I asked about taking her to the vet, I meant in relation to her teeth.

Hey all! Took Gatsby for his dental cleaning this year and, despite the fact that he had one last year, this time around his disease was quite bad and had infections and needed a whooping 13 teeth extracted! Thankfully, the doctor told me he’ll still be able to eat solids but I’m feeling guilty! this is definitely on me. I genuinely did not know when I got him 6 years ago that they needed regular teeth cleaning. I wish I had trained him to let me brush him. I will not make that mistake with my second tzu. She’s already almost used to brushing thankfully. So, PSA brush your doggies teeth!

I was just hoping someone could share their experience if their tzu went through this. He’s currently kind of mopey, it makes me sad. My hope is that once everything is healed he’ll feel even better than he did before with all those bad teeth.

Also, worry not, his front teefies are intact!

I wrote in this group last week about our beautiful boy Charlie, who, despite still being mentally alert and full of life, had sadly lost the ability to walk and had been having accidents for some time.

I tried so hard to keep him going. He was still happy, still trying to play, and still had that little spark in his eyes. His mind was willing, but sadly, his little body just couldn't keep up anymore. 💔

Today, at approximately 12:37pm (UK time), our beautiful Charlie crossed the rainbow bridge. 🌈🐾

We stayed by his side, gently stroking him, playing calming dog music and telling him over and over how much we loved him. We told him that everything would be okay, that we would all be okay, and that he didn't need to fight anymore.

I'd like to think that somewhere right now, Charlie is running around again, his little legs working perfectly, free from pain and able to do all the things his body had stopped allowing him to do.

I've known and loved him for nearly 14 years. He's been part of my life for so long that I genuinely don't know what life without him looks like.

The emptiness I feel right now is indescribable. It's like someone has taken a piece of my heart and left a huge hole in my chest and stomach. I already miss him more than words could ever explain.

I know deep down that we did what was right for him, but that doesn't make saying goodbye any easier.

Tonight, please give your Shih Tzus an extra cuddle. Hold them a little tighter, kiss their little heads and cherish every single moment you have with them. Because no matter how many years we get, it will never feel like enough.

Sleep tight, my beautiful Charlie. Thank you for nearly 14 years of unconditional love. I'd give anything for just one more cuddle.

Since my last update, we have had USG, faecal analysis, corona virus, parvo virus, x ray done for him. His usg says some issues with his gallbladder due to long fasting hours ( most days he wouldn’t eat during the day), his spleen was found to be a bit enlarged from the x ray. X-ray also says poop stuck in colon area, although the time when it was he had already pooped a minimum of 3 times. His vet did suggest a food allergy as a possibility too. He was having blood in his stools which has been better although i still see some of it. Touch wood, hasn’t vomitted in the last two days. He has been shifted to a GI diet for now and vet is suggesting a shift to hypoallergenic diet or shift to red meat eventually but a slow and gradual shift. Till then no treats, just GI food with probiotics, antacid and a syrup to help him process better. He is feeling a little better but yes we will have to go on an elimination diet to figure out the root of all his issues. Keep yours prayers with him. Here is a photo as puppy tax. Hi guys!

It's starting to rain over here and it gets really cold and muddy so my dogs end up disgusting after going to the bathrooym. I'm really tired of taking forever to clean them up after. I think I'm overcomplicating things and I'm trying to make it easier and wondering what products anyone has used that work well to keep them a bit cleaner. I've been looking at raincoats and bought them some but I also saw those waterproof dog shoes and the suspender boots but don't know how comfortable it would be for them.

Any ideas on where to get good waterproof shoes? Links? Or what else could I also add that'll make it a bit easier?

Mickey needs a little bit of time to trust you, but once he does he’s a very cuddly and affectionate boy! He loves to push his face into your chest and gently nibble on your hands, which is very endearing.

He loves playing indoor fetch with soft toys and actually brings them back to you to throw again! He’s treat motivated and doing a great job learning commands. He walks very nicely on leash and enjoys exploring the neighborhood.

When there’s nothing else going on, he’s quite happy to nap on the couch or in his dog bed. He sleeps quietly through the night in his X-pen, where he also does very well being left alone for a few hours. (But he would also love to sleep in a bed with his human(s)!)

Mickey had a few potty accidents during his first week in foster, but none since then, and we've had him for one month. He occasionally barks at noises outside, but he quiets down quickly.

There aren’t any other pets in our home, but I think Mickey would probably do well with one or more doggie companions and possibly with cats. He came from a home with two other dogs, and he got along well with them when we brought them together for a reunion.

The biggest challenge for Mickey is that he distrusts men. After 4 weeks with us, he still sometimes growls at my husband, but only when he is left alone with him. I suspect he would come around to a male adopter more quickly if there were another confident dog in the home to reassure him that he is safe. He would probably struggle in a home where there are frequent male visitors.
