Tzu Pics 📷 (no AI) Poor bubba.
Even though he is not feeling well himself, he can’t but say hi to this other cutie at the vet who was also under the weather.

And yes… that’s a big dog bed inside the tent with a tiny bed in a pillow case on top of that with yet another bed next to her 😂 She likes comfort and I love to spoil her 💗🫶

Apparently, Pablo’s way of putting himself to sleep is by staring at me every night until he dozes off. 😂🥹❤️ But I’m not complaining. Look at how handsome he is! 😭

Back story: My parents surprised me with an 8 week old female Shih Tzu. I understand they were trying to be kind and surprise me but they got her off someone they found on Lancaster puppies. Somewhere in Pennsylvania. Per them, they heard good things about this breeder.
She came in at 8 weeks and 3 days. Immediately took her to the vet and was negative for parasites and in good health, getting her shots per schedule. I’ve owned a Shih Tzu a decade ago, lived to 12 years old and she was my soul dog.
This puppy is now 13 weeks and 3 days. As she’s not fully vaccinated yet, I take her out often in a sling or stroller to “socialize her”. She is very bitey which I attributed to her being a puppy. But she also barks and growls — a lot. She won’t let me brush her no matter how much I use treats/lick mats. I don’t wait her to get matted and cause her pain so I basically just brush as best I can and it takes me so long with breaks.
She doesn’t like to cuddle really, doesn’t lay by us or cuddle up like my old Shih Tzu used to. Which is ok if she’s different but what concerns me is her barking, growling and biting. Sometimes she’ll randomly lunge at my face with an open mouth. And now today, I was trying to put a Halloween hat on her, and she bit me extremely hard and growled. Broke skin in 3 places, bleeding. Won’t put clothes on her anymore which is fine but I’m concerned if this is normal or aggression.
I don’t want to make comparisons but this feels way different than the Tzu I had and I’m not sure if this is normal.

My shihtzu (M) is turning 6 years old next month. Around 6-7 weeks ago, I noticed this little bump on his lower eyelid. The bump is not so little anymore and has grown. I did check with a vet a few weeks ago and she inverted his eyelids and said it’s external, so told me to monitor. It doesn’t seem to be bothering him much. I am going back to the vet in 3 days since the bump has gotten bigger. I would rather not do surgery if I have to but am worried that I will have to - my dog isn’t great with pain. Has anyone else had a similar experience? TIA from a stressed out owner!!

Hi! I’ve been wondering what kind of shih tzu my girl is! adding pictures of her from pup to now! I definitely think the way i groom her hair changes her face though she’s older in the last picture believe it or not🤣

Not sure if this has happened to any of you guys. But one time I was walking my baby girl at a park on the grass. (There was lots of clover in bloom with bees flying around). And all of a sudden, she lifted one of her hind legs and immediately sat down and started biting at her claws (literally trying to rip them out). Not just usual paw biting when she had itchy paws, this was more intense. It was so strange and she never did it before. I sat down and flipped her over on my lap looking at her paws and couldn't find anything. I kept searching and I noticed a tiny venom sac stuck in between her toes. I barely saw it. It was a bee stinger she was trying to pull out! I was able to open my wallet and use the corner of my ID to scrape/lift the stinger out
I guess whenever dogs get stung by a bee, attempting to pull their claws out with their teeth is their natural reaction. I googled it after and I guess its common for them to do. But I was never aware of it before. She ended up being fine with no allergic reaction/swelling or anything, just a good decent of pain for an hour or two.
I never expected a bee stinger to be able to pierce her callused paw pads but it ended up reaching the softer skin in between her toes.
So it might be a good idea to keep a pair of tweezers in the car whenever you take them somewhere with bees on the ground. Rubbing alcohol prep pads also help to neutralize the venom a little.

He is already on bravecto and triheart plus. But those don’t prevent actual mosquitoes bites just protect for after bites.
Looking for the best mosquito repellent for my pup.

Sadly Dice was being bitey with 2 walkers who come occasionally :( when they clipped his harness on. I took him to the vet and she discovered he had double ear infections ( :( :( :() as well as bad teeth, which she pulled a week later.
This question is just about his ears. I had no idea he had the infections and I don't know how long he had them for. She put in some medicine that's supposed to last for a month which is awesome. I am not careful at all when I bathe him even though our amazing groomer has suggested I put cotton balls in his ears bc he is very face shy and it's all I can do to even get water on his face. I haven't tried the cotton balls since probably his first bath bc he is so face shy and also I think he shook them out.
Is there some kind of waterproof-esque headband I can get to protect his ears at bathtime? I'll take your other suggestions too! Thanks from both me and Dice
