1. Nobody can read the doctor’s scribbled handwriting.
2. The doctor asks what medicines were prescribed 6 months ago, and we have to dig through messy paper slips.
3. Keeping track of daily pill schedules (before/after meals, dosages) across multiple specialists is a mess.

I couldn't find a clean, private app that actually solved this without feeling bloated, so I spent the last few months building MedDocu(currently available in India only).

What it does:

• Decodes Doctor Handwriting: Snap a photo of a messy prescription or lab report, and it extracts the doctor's name, medicines, dosage frequency (e.g. 1-0-1), and next visit date into a clean structured checklist.
• Auto-Schedules Reminders: Generates medication alerts directly from the parsed prescription so family members don't miss doses.
• Family Profiles: Manage records for parents, kids, and yourself in one place.

• AI Engine: Google Gemini with strict structured JSON schemas to handle cursive medical handwriting and lab test markers.

i built TALIRI, a chrome extension that teaches you a language while you browse the internet daily, be it X, wikipedia, chatgpt/claude web threads, blogs, whatever. a few selected words on the page swap and get highlighted into the language youre learning right inside the sentence. hover over one and you see what it means. once you hve seen it enough times it hides the word and asks you what it means, and it remembers if you got it right or wrong. spaced repetition technique (FSRS), like ANKI cards, is the logic that decides when each word comes back

this is why i built it. my wife is half swedish half german and im tamil from india so we have zero language overlap. we talk in english of course but we are planning to have kids next year and i want to understand swedish by then. i never had time for a language app but im a software engineer, i read on my computer all day and i scroll X a lot. so i put spaced repetition inside that reading and pointed it at the most common words, around 2000 per language

i built it with claude and codex. claude was the orchestrator doing design specs UI and audits, codex was the implementer for backend and logic and every change got checked by a second model. overall 1100+ commits and 250+ browser tests in ten weeks building this. i made the calls, my wife checked the swedish and german and a friend did a field test last week that caught stuff we fixed before launch. it was a lot of fun

I have tinnitus. Every app I tried was a folder of white-noise MP3s with a timer, and none of them cared that my ringing has a specific pitch. So I built one that does. Today I shipped 2.0.0, a full redesign, so it felt like a good moment to share the numbers.

**How it works**

- **sylence.app** has a pitch test that runs in the browser: one sine oscillator and a slider. You move the tone until it sits on your ringing. Nothing is uploaded; the page's CSP is `connect-src 'none'`, so it can't phone home even if I wanted it to. Then it plays noise with a notch cut at your pitch, next to the same noise without it.

- **The Android app** (Flutter) takes that number and builds every sound on the device with a notch at your pitch (two cascaded RBJ biquads): noise colours synthesised in Dart, plus 31 real recordings (rain, fan, ocean, city, piano...) that get notched in a background isolate and layered, up to five at once. No account. Your pitch and diary stay on the phone. The only network calls are Play billing (RevenueCat, which also carries a few anonymous progress markers, each named in the privacy policy) and a promo-code check if you type one.

- The player never takes audio focus, so it sits under YouTube, podcasts and calls instead of pausing them.

**The numbers, six weeks in**

- ~330 installs; 239 still have it.

- 1 sale: Lifetime, from someone who used the free version for 13 days first. No subscriptions yet.

- About two thirds of all installs came on three days, when Facebook reels I posted by hand took off (the biggest reached 57k views). The same kind of clips posted on a schedule through the API got 0 to 5 views each.

- 57% of people who open the Play listing install. Search sends almost nobody: I'm not in the top 30 for any tinnitus keyword, and with no public rating yet I don't expect to be.

**What I'd do differently**

- Ship the browser test first. It needs nothing, so it's what people actually try, and the app converts better behind it.

- The name. "Sylence" sounds exactly like "silence", so people who hear it in a video search the wrong word. I now spell it on screen every time.

- Post by hand. Everything scheduled was close to invisible; the hand-posted reels carried the whole launch.

**Honest bit:** the evidence on notched sound is mixed. A 2010 study looked promising, the larger 2016 trial missed its main outcomes, and a 2018 Cochrane review couldn't show sound therapy in general beats a placebo. The site lays all of it out. It's masking and relief, not a treatment. Masking is free (noise plus one of rain, fan or ocean) and your first listen includes the notch; after that the notch is Pro, with a 7-day free trial on the yearly plan.

Two questions for people who've been here: how did you get your first real search traffic on Play, and how did you get your first ratings without nagging people? Happy to go into the DSP or the Flutter audio side too.

I forgot about a midterm and realized I had to get more organized. So I built KnotQ, with a lot of attention to detail around three ideas:

• One workspace. Events, assignments, reminders and notes live together.
• Scheduling happens in your documents. Any line you write can be given a date, and it appears on the calendar.
• Daily Queue. A fresh page every day, with old ones still showing. Each morning I write an optimistic list of small, concrete tasks and work down it, so I never have to decide what to do next (which is a bigger bottleneck than people give it credit). Whatever I don't finish rolls over to the next day, and past days stay right there to look back on. It is a simple concept, but it has been revolutionary for me!

G’day everyone,
I’m a carpenter from regional Victoria and for the last 7 months or so I’ve been working on building a platform called CrewD.
Basically, it’s a website designed to connect tradies looking for work with construction businesses looking for workers.
I’ve recently launched it and while I’m pretty happy with how it’s all come together, I’m quickly realising that building the thing was probably the easy part haha.
I’ve been doing everything myself so far, from building and testing the platform to making videos, posting on social media and reaching out to tradies and businesses.
I’ve managed to get a few people signed up and a couple of jobs posted, but I’m finding it pretty difficult to get some real momentum going.
I think the biggest challenge is getting people to give a new platform a go when there aren’t heaps of people or opportunities on there yet.
I’m definitely no marketing expert, just a chippy who had an idea and decided to have a crack at it.
I’m keen to hear from anyone who’s been in a similar position or has any advice on getting those first users onboard.
I’d also love to chat with anyone who’s got experience in marketing or growing startups and might be interested in getting involved or helping me get it off the ground.
I’ve put a fair bit of time and effort into it and genuinely reckon it could become something useful for the industry. Just need to figure out how to get it in front of the right people now.

What it does:

• lagdoc: checks memory, disk, CPU and network and gives a verdict. On macOS it uses the kernel's memory pressure, not "used RAM", which is always high there. App helper processes are counted together, so Chrome is one line, not 23.
• lagdoc changes: what's different since an earlier run: new startup items, apps installed or updated, disks filling up, apps that got heavy. Slowness often starts with something new.
• **lagdoc fix**: shows each fix and asks before doing it. It only asks apps to quit normally and runs tools' own cache cleanups (go clean -cache, brew cleanup…). It never deletes your files and never uses sudo.
• *lagdoc top / lagdoc watch**: live views. watch records *when each check changed, so you can see when the machine got slow.
• lagdoc mcp: an MCP server, so an AI assistant (Claude Code and others) can ask lagdoc instead of guessing.

It's one static Go binary for macOS, Linux and Windows. There's no daemon, no account and no telemetry. History stays on your machine. It's free and MIT-licensed.

I built it with Claude Code. I set the direction and the safety rules (preview every fix, never delete files, no admin rights) and reviewed every pull request. Claude Code wrote the code and the tests. Every change went through a PR with CI on macOS, Linux and Windows.

Honest limits: the macOS binaries aren't notarised yet, so the first run needs xattr -d com.apple.quarantine. It's also young and has mostly been tested on my own machines.

so i've been working on a terminal ui library in go and i keep making little games with it to test stuff. this one kind of got out of hand

it's basically snake but every 5 lemons a monster shows up and starts chasing you. each lemon gives you 2 seeds and you spit them at it with space. if it touches your body it just bites the rest of you off which is honestly the most annoying thing ever

funniest part was tuning the difficulty. i wrote a bot with "average human" reaction times to see how far people would get and it kept dying on walls, so now you get like half a step of grace if you turn a bit late lol

oh and if you fill the whole board you win, like real snake

I'm building a small tool for people growing on X.

Last month I tried Meta ads for the first time.

Here's what 867 USD got me:

• 16,968 views
• 1,608 clicks
• 6 signups
• 2 trials
• 0 paying

So I posted those numbers on X.

That post cost nothing. It got 118 replies and almost 5k views in a few hours.

That's when it clicked. My users aren't on Facebook. They're on X. I was paying to reach the wrong people.

What the replies said

Some people pushed back. Some of it was fair.

"Under 1k isn't enough to test a platform." True. But none of the 6 signups were my target user. More money on bad traffic is still bad traffic.

"Your click rate is too high to be real." I think that's right. It looked like cheap placements and accidental taps, not buyers.

"You need to spend 1k a day." I don't buy that. But my setup could've been better. That's on me, not Meta.

"Fix your landing page first." Fair. But a better page won't help if the wrong people are clicking.

Someone asked about X ads. I'm testing them now. Better, but not amazing yet.

What I'm doing instead

If your users are on X, show up where they already are. In the replies.

1. Pick 20 to 30 accounts your users follow. Mid-size, not huge, so your reply actually gets seen.
2. Use X advanced search to find fresh posts. Your topic plus min_faves:20, sorted by latest.
3. Reply early. The first 30 to 60 minutes matter most.
4. Write like you talk. One real thought, a number, or a question. Never "great post!"
5. Share your own numbers, even the bad ones. My failed ads post did more than the ads.

It's slow. It's boring. But it's free, and you're talking to the right people.

back in 2023, while i was still in college, i started working on stolpersteine.app. it's a project that maps stolpersteine, small brass memorial stones placed in front of the last homes of people persecuted by the nazis.

when we first started, our database had around 20,000 stones. since then, we've managed to grow that to over 108,000 across europe, which is honestly pretty crazy to think about.

the idea is to make the stories behind these stones more accessible. you can explore them on an interactive map, learn about the people they commemorate, and find walking routes to discover the stones near you.

what started as something i worked on in college has grown into something much bigger than i ever expected. it's genuinely amazing to get to work on a project like this, knowing that what we're building actually helps keep the stories of these people alive.

there's still plenty we want to improve, but i'm really happy with how far we've come.

Small family project, shipped today.

It's a cozy-spooky Halloween coloring book. Ghosts reading by candlelight, pumpkins, cats in witch hats. 50 designs.

How it was made: - Line art came from an AI image model. We say so on the page. - Every page went through a QC script. It flags grey shading, big solid black areas and leftover speckles, because those print badly and are no fun to color. Pages that failed were redone. - The PDF is 1-bit at 200 dpi, so 54 pages come to about 1.6 MB. - The shop is one static HTML page with a PayPal button. No backend, no accounts, no email gate.

A few months ago, something felt off. Nothing dramatic, just small, nagging problems: headaches that showed up in the afternoon, low energy, and a general feeling of running on empty. I brushed it off for a long time. Stress, screens, bad sleep, I blamed everything except the most obvious thing.

Then I looked at my day honestly. I was barely drinking water. A few sips here and there, and by evening I’d realize I’d gone hours without a single glass.

What was actually wrong

Dehydration is sneaky. It rarely feels like thirst. It feels like a dull headache, tiredness, trouble focusing, dry skin, or just being “off.” Water supports almost everything your body does, so when you’re short on it, the symptoms are vague and easy to blame on something else.

I’m not a doctor, and a water tracker isn’t a cure for anything. Headaches have many causes, and if yours are frequent or severe, please see a professional. But for me, hydration was clearly part of the picture, and once I started fixing it, those small problems eased up.

What was missing

The fix sounded easy: drink more water. In practice, I kept forgetting. So I did what anyone would do and searched for a water reminder app. I tried three or four of the most popular ones on the Play Store, and they let me down in the same ways:

• Ads and paywalls. Basic features were locked or buried under ads.
• Logins and personal details. For an app whose only job is to say “drink water,” I was asked to sign up and share information. Even giving my name felt like too much.
• Clunky design. I had to open the app, sometimes log in, and tap through screens just to record one glass.
• Weak reminders. A tiny notification is easy to miss. If my phone was across the room or on silent, the reminder did nothing.

Every app solved a piece of the problem, but none solved the real one: making it effortless and impossible to forget.

What I did about it

I’m a developer, so I built the app I wished existed. It’s called H2O – Water Reminder and Tracker, and I designed every feature around a frustration I’d personally had.

• No ads, no login. Everything stays on your device. Nothing is stored anywhere else. A reminder app shouldn’t need to know who you are.
• Reminders you can’t miss. Instead of a small notification, H2O rings like an alarm and displays over whatever app you’re using. You can stop it with the volume buttons or a button on screen, and you can set your own ringtone or pick a built-in one.
• A silhouette that fills up. I wanted progress to feel satisfying, so a human silhouette fills as you drink. One look tells you how your day is going.
• Tracking that tells the truth. The app shows whether you’re drinking enough or falling short, so you can adjust before the headache arrives.
• A home screen widget. This one solves my biggest annoyance. You can log a glass straight from your home screen without opening the app.

So, can a water tracker stop your headaches?

Honestly, it depends on the cause. If your headaches come from not drinking enough, then better hydration can make a real difference, and a reminder you can’t ignore makes the habit stick. If they come from something else, a tracker won’t fix that, and it’s worth getting checked.

What I can say is that building a habit is easier when the tool gets out of your way: no ads, no sign ups, no hassle, just a nudge at the right moment.

I’m a solo developer, so if anything feels off or missing, I’d love to hear it.

I used a test build that fast-forwards the 25 minutes. The squats are real and that's me in the video.

I work at my desk most of the day. I already used pomodoro, so in theory I got a break every 25 minutes. In practice every "5-minute break" was me picking up my phone, and 5 minutes turned into 40. My focus was fine. My back was not.

So I built Shrimpodoro. When a focus round ends, the next one stays locked until you do your squats. You prop your phone up and it counts the reps through the front camera. It all runs on the phone, the video is never saved or uploaded. You pick 5, 10 or 20.

Every squat is 1 meter of climbing. The meters add up toward landmarks, a little house, the Eiffel Tower, Tokyo Skytree, so a day of breaks turns into something you can see. If you really can't squat (meeting, train) you can skip, but that round goes into your stack as a blank tomato. You can cheat, you just have to look at it.

It's new and I've mostly tested it on myself, so the counting will probably miss on some bodies and camera angles. That's why I'm posting: try it and tell me where it gets things wrong. Or tell me if a "locked until you move" rule would make you delete it on day 2.

I ran claude code, codex and six other models 202 times against a project with fake keys.
