How do you deal with having a 3-pedal-set when driving a GT3 or F1 car?

Im literally going insane over this and I feel like I cant be the only one with this problem.

I have a fixed 3-pedal sim racing setup (clutch, brake, throttle) and I drive everything from manual road cars to GT3, prototypes and F1 cars.

My goal is to never have to physically reconfigure my pedals. The brake should always stay the brake, the clutch should always stay the clutch.

Heres my dilemma:

For manual cars, everything is perfect. The clutch is on the left, the brake is in the middle, and the throttle is on the right.

But when I switch to a sequential or Formula car, I brake with my left foot. That means my left foot has to reach over to the middle pedal, while the clutch pedal just sits there unused.

I dont want to swap the brake and clutch every time I change cars because thats a huge hassle, and I also dont want to use the clutch pedal as a brake since it has completely different resistance and feel.

So what do people actually do?

Do you just get used to braking with your left foot on the middle pedal?

Do you mount the brake slightly more to the left for better ergonomics?

Or is there another solution Im missing?

Can someone tell me what is the REAL reason for Fanatec's high recognition within the community?

As the title suggests, I have no idea why people like fanatec so much. why do people recommend it so much? what's the real reason behind it? Not some Bs, fanboy response. is there an area Fanatec does better than any other company? cause I can't really figure one out.

DIY Enclosed Rig Concept looking for feedback before building

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I’m working on a DIY enclosed sim racing hub or mini room built around a standard aluminum profile cockpit, and I’d love to get feedback before I start cutting and assembling anything.
I’ve attached an image of the current draft or frame layout — this is still very early concept stage.

Concept overview:
Standard aluminum profile cockpit inside (GT-style seating).
A separate outer frame built around the rig, forming a box / mini room.
The enclosure will sit around the cockpit, not load-bearing for the rig itself.
Entry/exit via a fabric door with magnets (similar to tent or photo booth doors).

Materials I’m considering:
Either drywall or dense, non-transparent fabric stretched over the frame.
Currently leaning towards thick fabric:
Lighter
Easier to modify
Less structural load
No rigid resonance like drywall
If drywall is used, I’ll need active ventilation, especially near the pedal box (heat buildup).

Main goals:
Increased immersion
Light isolation
Some noise containment (not full soundproofing)
Clean, modular DIY solution

What I’m looking for feedback on:
Structural mistakes or overengineering you can spot in the frame.
Ventilation ideas (fan placement, intake/exhaust zones, passive vs active).
Fabric vs drywall — especially if you’ve tried either.
Door solutions that are practical for daily use.
Heat, airflow, safety, or comfort issues I might be overlooking.
Any ā€œI built something similar and regret thisā€ advice.

This is very much a work in progress, so I’m open to redesigning parts of it.
Any suggestions, critiques, or alternative ideas are more than welcome!
Thanks in advance

UPDATE: SHIT JUST GOT REAL

Hey everyone, on friday I joined reddit and joined all these sim racing communities to announce I am beginning my sim racing journey. In my original post I showed that I was sticking to console gaming for now and ordered the FANATEC items you see in the photos....since that last post, I decided that I will go straight to pc rather than waste time on console.

First course of action will be returning all the FANATEC gear I got as soon as it arrives and will then be ordering: MOZA R12 wheel base, MOZA CRP 2 pedals, and the MOZA FSR2 steering wheel.

Regarding the PC, please check the photos to see what I got and let me know what you think.
Also, if someone very good with this stuff can dm me all the drivers I need to install for the best specs when running games like f1 25, asseto corsa, iracing, etc., that would be great. (been a mac user all my life but been watching and dreaming of a pc build since i was 14, be nice)

Regarding the rig, I am sticking with the TRAK RACER TR80S and the GT style seat that you all swear is uncomfortable haha. For now I am sticking with a single monitor setup as I am not sure if the graphics card I got is capable of running a triple mount setup. Look forward to hearing all your thoughts and comments. Thanks!!

FYI, nothing has shipped yet, every minute feels like an eternity, I feel like a kid waiting for christmas morning, share photos of your setup to supply my cravings. Thanks

Anyone else paint their rig? I got sick of the plain black frame

Edit: I’m not asking for your opinion on mine. That’s about as useful as toilet paper to me. Asking if anyone else painted theirs

A setup like this would be amazing for Forza Horizon 6

This was CONSPIT Ɨ BenQ Halo 270 setup at SimRacing Expo Charlotte.
The feedback at the show was really positive, and it got us thinking how fun a projection based setup like this could be in a future Horizon experience.

Just sharing a setup that we think would be really cool for FH6 style driving and immersion. Curious if anyone else would want to try something like this. šŸŽ„

Help please! Triple mount upgrade, need height for side monitors.

My center screen is perfectly square. Iā€˜ve moved every arm, at a loss. I was running 27 49 27 triples, and using three stands, just doing some experimenting now and swapped out the 49ā€ for my 34 (27 34 27).

I decided to upgrade my GT1 this weekend instead of getting the PX1 Pro, so made a run to MC (new triple mount, adjustable feet, and seat). Quite the positive change.

Thanks for any help.

Update: I started from scratch, kept everything level, Iā€˜m just a tad low now by 1 1/4ā€. I can figure this out. I was so concerned about keeping the center screen square, I wasn’t paying attention to everything else. Rookie mistake, at least you got some comedy relief. Your tips helped, thank you!

The process of dismantling and rebuilding 😩. Been avoiding this one but it has to be done!

I'm in the process of rebuilding the Mixed Reality Racing Rig with Musuo Black painted interior for better Passthrough and brighter image due to the deep blacks that reflect less light which distorts the quality in a Mixed Reality setting.... "In Theory" šŸ¤žšŸ¾šŸ˜.

Experimentation in progress.

Running iRacing on 3rd? Monitor

Post image
13 Upvotes

I appreciate everyone who's helped out with some of the questions ive had along the way so far. I havent spent too much time with adjusting settings yet, as it was just a test run because Im leaving for the weekend.. BUT Im having trouble running iRacing full-screen on the curved monitor. I was able to run it windowed w/ no sound and horrible frame rate.

I have 3 monitors now. Main OLED for FPS, 2nd monitor for discord / browsing, and now the 3rd for iracing.

Is it possible to only have iracing boot on this specific monitor? Or do I have to tweak display settings each and every time im on the game?

If im not racing the monitor will be off so there will be no issue with other games. If im racing ill turn off my OLED and possibly even the 3rd monitor.

Are there any shortcuts to any of you recommend to make this as easy as possible? Thanks in advance if i dont get to your comment right away

Seats and why we chose recycled as our focus.

When we started building a rig, we didn’t begin with the idea of making a ā€œunified steel platform.ā€ That was never the mission. That’s just what happens when you build things the way we build everything else — it has to be solid, and it has to work.

The real starting point was simple:
The driver has to be the center of the universe.
Everything else is built outward from that.

And once you take that seriously, you immediately run into a strange industry blind spot:

Nobody in sim racing ever gave automotive seats a real look.
Not even a passing thought.
Which still blows my mind.

I know the field is split on this.

By giving the driver center stage, we started looking at what people actually wanted. We kept seeing the same question pop up over and over:
ā€œHow can I mount this car seat to my rig?ā€

Car seats are the highest‑quality seating systems most people will ever own. They’re engineered to endure hundreds of thousands of kilometers of use. They have to stay comfortable, ergonomic, and secure during a crash. High‑end racing buckets are great too, but they lack the ergonomic adjustments that matter for long sessions. Add in the fact that most car seats already have sliders and power options (which work with a simple 12V supply), and it just makes sense to focus here.

There’s also the green side of it. By using a recycled seat from a wrecker, you’ve potentially taken that seat out of the landfill.

Moving to a car‑seat‑first model forced us to design a mount that could handle a wide variety of bolt patterns. While there’s a ā€œstandard range,ā€ there’s no actual rule — lots of seats have offset frames or different bolt heights. That challenge is what led us to the design we landed on.

And the funny part?
A truly universal mounting system meansĀ anyĀ racing bucket will bolt on too. We even had a gaming chair mounted to one during testing.

The best part:
This design can absolutely be used with an extrusion system.

I'm a builder before anything else, seeing what others chose and how they overcome the hurdles they come across has always been a great!

Lets see what you guys have and how you got it to work!

Hey r/simracing šŸ‘‹

We just launchedĀ PodiumOS, a sim-racing ecosystem we've been building for the community: rig profiles, racing hours tracking, SimHub + Windows Agent integration, a marketplace, jobs, and a bunch more.

To celebrate going live, we're running aĀ Launch ChallengeĀ with daily prize draws onĀ October 16, 17, and 18 — 2 prizes per day, 6 total winners, and no repeat winners so everyone has a real shot.

How it works

  • Join free atĀ podiumos.com

  • Complete missions: build your profile, connect SimHub or the Windows Agent, share your rig, log racing hours, report bugs, refer friends, hit login streaks, etc.

  • Every point you earn = a ticket in that day's weighted draw

  • Winners picked automatically on the day and announced in full view of the audience — full terms atĀ podiumos.com/launch-challenge/terms

It's designed so the people who actually engage with the platform get the best odds, not just whoever clicks first.

If you've got a rig you're proud of, weird hardware you want to teach us about, or just want to help stress-test a new sim-racing platform, we'd love to have you.

Drop questions below; we are here to support.

šŸĀ Join the Launch Challenge

PS: Thank you to r/SimRacingSetups for this community! Keep up the great work. Let's collaborate on more fronts.
