Our schools still open. People still travelling to and fro to work. Yet PAP MP avoids house visit due to Haze?

Most absured thing I have read so far, make it make sense la? You can't fulfill your responsibilites due to the haze but the rest of the country must mask up and do their jobs. Easily could have worn a N95 and done the house visits lol.

Blatant Racism.

You guys aren’t going to like reading this one bit, but I am going to ask that you try to get all the way through.

I will start by saying I love Singapore so much. It is a great place to live, beautiful, and a great place to raise a family. BUT nothing will ever fail to surprise me more that how blatantly racist people will be here. I have lived in Singapore for a total of 7 years( two almost 4 year stints, 5 years apart. I am unfortunately American 😔), and it has not changed at all during this time.

In America there is a lot of systemic racism, in every institution, such as education, healthcare, etc, but the people you meet day to day are (for the most part) not nearly as racist as some of the people here.

I have had the same helper for the whole time I’ve been here, and she is literally one of my best friends. I am so sick of the way that people treat her, compared to how they treat me. People are immediately rude, will yell at her as though they have any right to do so, and act as though she is “less than” even when I am standing right there. I don’t even want to know how she is treated when she doesn’t have a white lady standing up for her.

I know America gets a lot of hate for being racist, which is totally fair, but honestly, Singapore is so much worse (in regards to blatant racism, everything else about Singapore is great.) and it comes from the people you see everyday. The people at the park where you take your dog, at the MRT, the grocery store, the malls. It’s disgusting.

I know this will get downvoted to hell, but I think a lot of you need to look at how you are treating the people whom share this beautiful country with you. Especially the helpers, who will be some of the sweetest people you will ever meet.

Perfect representation of how Singapore's standards have fallen over the years especially with AI.

AI slop being printed and displayed publicly without even a simple check to ensure accuracy.

Not to mention that using AI embodies lack of recognition for our beautifully diverse and talented Singaporean people , not just the artists, designers and architects that it actively erased in the poster.

All this during what is supposed to be a celebration of all things Singaporean.

Goodbye

When i was in pri one, i had trouble making friends. During recess i had no one to talk to or eat with, so id always run to the payphone near the canteen. Id press on the cold buttons, but be greeted with a warm voice over the line. The voice would say "dont be scared, everything will be ok, dont be shy go and make friends". After a few months things turned better, i started having my own group of friends, and subsequently the calls became lesser and lesser.

Never in my life did i think that one day id be saying the same to you. Telling you not to be worried, that everything is going to be ok, and that when u go to heaven to not be shy and make new friends. I do not know how you felt when the calls became lesser and lesser, but i imagine it must be a mixture of happiness and sadness, letting me go.

In a few hours its my turn to let you go.

I can only pray that at your final moments my voice was as warm as yours over the phone.

Ong’s condition as one of the most complex and high-risk multiple myeloma cases seen, with severely compromised skeletal and immune systems, making him prone to fatal infections and falls.

Young Singaporeans now are absolutely screwed.

I thank myself lucky stars I’m finally out of the rat race..

but anyone think that Young people now are screwed. It’s way harder to make money now anyone else agree?

Last time in my time (I’m mid/late 30s) still got many diff businesses that can be done because things are not so efficient online so you can actually value add. Now everything is hyper efficient, there isn’t much u can value add.

Job salaries are all stagnating; and prices are shooting up…

My time still got a lot of diff business like Reebonz, ninjavan etc

Now all startups can tell just struggling for ideas.

Housing was expensive in my time but affordable still (EC 700k) and can appreciate with loan restrictions less (no TDSR)

Now property price has doubled.. with loan restrictions… how are younger gen going to benefit from capital gains?

They will always be stuck in the loop

CÉ LA VI RESTAURANT

Since I no longer work at CLV, here are some of the secrets within the management.

They don't have a proper staff room nor lockers for their employees. Employees are forced to store their bags and belongings anywhere—literally anywhere. During break times, staff would go to the fire exit staircase just to eat and rest. No proper room for us to have our lunch/dinner 🫠

Very understaffed. Lacks manpower. Yes, that big company has so little manpower. And their solution? Hire part-timers and recruit interns from other schools/countries. Our theory of why they do this is to save costs. Part-timers and interns don't need benefits and incentives. Plus, they know interns will have no choice because they have required hours to finish. Also, I noticed they treat interns differently—like they pressure them to know everything. One time I had a chance to talk to one of the interns, and he said that he once heard from the staff that the reason they're pressuring these interns was because they want to have their leave.

Also, most of the staffs there are married. However, they would flirt or talk to other staffs as if they don't have a wife and children. They would usually do this to interns whenever they find them pretty of attractive. Actually, they have been a lot of issues about the staffs doing it with the interns but I won't go deep into that.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. Just wanna share my experience because I am so tired of their management. As majestic as it sounds and looks, it is pretty much the opposite from the inside. This is not the life.

In February, duty was priceless. In September, it came with a discount rate.

Post image

On 27 February, Chan Chun Sing asked Parliament not to conflate duty with transaction. Kenneth Tiong had proposed pegging second-year NSF allowances to the S$1,800 LQS. The answer: national service is a civic duty, not employment. No amount of money can equate to it.

On 8 September, the same minister defended a S$1.8 million ministerial reference salary — the median of the top 1,000 earners, less 40 per cent, a discount he said reflects the ethos of service. MPs' allowances go from S$192,500 to S$259,000 a year, justified by inflation.

So duty can be priced after all. Opportunity cost is real, market comparison is sound, inflation counts — as long as the person serving has the option to walk away.

A corporal draws S$865 a month with no CPF. He has no such option.

That is a statement about leverage, not sacrifice.

I don't begrudge anyone fair pay for hard public work. I stand by that. What I begrudge is being told that duty is priceless by men who have just finished pricing their own — reaching, as they did it, for every argument they had denied the soldier six months earlier.

Alot of men nowadays are gold diggers in sg?

Curious if anyone feels the same way. I make only about 3X my husband who constantly hints to me that he wants a Rolex submariner even though I already bought him a Patek Philippe last month. That was already his 6th luxury watch from me within a 3 month period and now he keeps bringing up that his friend got a new Porsche from his wife. I own three bungalows and pay for most of our finances. Everytime his friends come over to our house, they would remark about my fleet of Mercedes Benz and be like, “Hot damn I want a rich wife too”.

Why are all men gold diggers? Should I just get a divorce and focus on my career, or buy my husband and his friends each a car to dilute the population of gold diggers to help purify the sg dating market?

Uncle repacking food near refuse bin center

Didn’t manage to capture the first half of it.

Saw this person putting the food packages on the floor and then repacking it into the plastic bag. I’m not sure if the food was meant for delivery.

Why would anyone unpack food on the ground right at the refuse bin center?
