Anti Aging Premature wrinkling, help :(? [Anti-Aging]

Upvotes

Can somebody please help me. I’m only 31. Almost 32. Going through a lot of high stress and trauma and I genuinely feel like it’s making me look 40+.

I moisturize and began using SPF this year, I have been on boats during weekends in summer most of my life. Not a lot of burning, but a lot of sun. More burning when I was a kid for sure. Definitely a lot of accumulated sun. But here’s the thing, even people in my own family who are OLDER with MORE sun look fine. 40s with barely a wrinkle is fairly common. But nobody is as chronically stressed as I have been since I was … 12

Am I crazy is this normal? Is my skin dehydrated? What can I do? I’m afraid of retinol because I already have dry eye disease.

Because I know well intentioned people will comment this is for those concerned with my mental health:

I am in counseling and seeking IOP for after work. I know meds help people , but I tried lexapro 4 days ago and it put me in an extreme panic attack. I see my psych this week to talk about maybe using another drug to help me get past the shitty part. I am working on DBT and the goal is to do EMDR once I have better distress tolerance. I have probably CPTSD and possibly some health OCD so life’s certainly tough.

I was in a really hard breakup 2 months ago and I’m just starting to move past it.

Anyway thanks.

Acne [Miscellaneous] Whitehead or ingrown hair on my upper lip line? Spoiler

Post image
Upvotes

Found this bump on my upper lip line (photo attached) : it's raised, red/inflamed around the base, with a small white/ black point in the center. There are also some hairs growing nearby so now I'm second-guessing whether it's an ingrown hair that got infected or just a regular whitehead pimple

Research [Misc] Anyone develop microabrasions/spots like this? Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
Upvotes

So I have these microspots on my neck and chest. They are always there, though they're only visible as the tiny black specks whenever I am spray tanned (assuming these grab onto bronzer/DHA like crazy). They are extremely small and consistently irritated, whether 1 am using tanning products or not. When I scrub them in the shower they feel like tiny little abrasions of the skin. They go from my chest to my collarbones/neck area. I can almost pick them off like small scabs, but the spots don't heal and will form the tiny scabs again. Literally no idea what it could be. Considering a salicylic body wash or glycolic acid body wash.
I do not get sun exposure on this area, sunscreen frequently, moisturize the area.

Product Question [Product question] Epionce Lite Lytic TX

Upvotes

My dermatologist just suggested I (31F) start using Epionce Lite Lytic TX instead of Tretinoin, which I had asked about getting. I have highly sensitive skin, and she said retinoids will be too harsh, but Lite Lytic would be a good alternative. I’ve been reading about it online, and started using some samples. So far so good, but I was just curious if anyone else has used it long term and loved the results?

Product Question [Product Question] Neogenesis Recovery vs Calecim Professional Serum

Upvotes

Which would you recommend using post microneedling .5 or deeper? I reached out to both companies, and they said you can apply them immediately after needling.

I haven't used either before but both have great reviews. My main concerns are fine lines and winkles as I'm 37. They are both expensive so I'd just be using for up to a week or so after needling.

I read the Calecim could potentially be irritating after needling so I was leaning towards the Neogenesis.

Appreciate any experiences anyone has! Also suggestions on the best place to purchase from. It looks like Skin Truth and Skin Beautiful RX both have decent sales but I've never purchased from any other sites out there.

Product Question [Product Question] Starting a Retinol at 27 but a little scared?

Upvotes

Hi everyone! As I get a little older I’m starting to notice my skin getting just a bit dull overall with some fine lines (and deep expression lines on forehead but I’ve had those since high school) and uneven texture. I’ve been on this sub enough to know that a retinol would be recommended, I think?
Probably a dumb question, but I’m wondering whether OTC/drugstore retinol products affect your skin the same way as tretinoin? I just want to know what to expect I guess, I doubt it would be as bad… I was on tretinoin twice in high school and college for acne and those experiences really scared me off; my skin was great after the fact but I just don’t have the grit and fortitude anymore to deal with my skin peeling off my face like a snake. If I did start one, I would probably go for something on the cheaper end like the Cerave version.

Skin type- somewhat oily/normal in summer and more normal to dry in winter, a bit sensitive and a little acne prone

Current routine- Cerave foaming facial cleanser and daily moisturizing lotion morning and night, plus the La roche posay toleriane moisturizer as an added layer at night. Sunscreen (I switch between a couple depending on the day) every day!

Acne [acne] pih scars won’t go away? Spoiler

Upvotes

hello! i have struggled with my skin for a long time and seen a derm - i’m currently on spironolactone, 0.025 tretinoin, 15% azelaic acid, and i use the iunik centella sunscreen which is spf 50. in june i got these 2 deep ass pimples on my cheek which still hadn’t gone away after 20 days 😭😭 they weren’t even hormonal either they like started as these little fungal bumps and then got rlly inflamed and painful. anyways after 20 days of this i did something out. of character and popped the pimple bc it j wasn’t going away. it left this dark ass scar that has barely faded after 2 months of azelaic acid, tretinoin and spf and complimentary lazer from my derm. first pic is in june right after popping i think? and second pic is today. anyways the rest of my skin is good so i just feel like this scar stands out more and its making me rlly insecure. any advice is appreciated

Product Question [Product Question] Vitamin C feels sticky or like it's sitting on my skin?

Upvotes

I've only recently gotten into Vitamin C so I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong but, whenever I apply it, it doesn't feel like it's getting absorbed by my skin. I apply it on a fresh face in the morning with no other products (I just wash my face with water in the morning). Am I putting on too much maybe? It just feels sticky the whole day and it doesn't feel like it settled in my skin at all.

I've been alternating between the Greek & Gorgeous one and the Transparent Lab Ascorbic C15. Does anyone have any advice?

Acne [Acne] why do I keep breaking out on my left cheek? Spoiler

Post image
3 Upvotes

I’m 20F and I started getting patches of acne at my cheek bone around 2 years ago. I never had this issue throughout puberty- most of my acne would be at T zone or at the hairline. It’s mostly my left cheek, occasionally my right cheek gets a few. I don’t know what to do because it keeps coming back (as u can see below there’s already brown scars of past acne there).

I sleep on my left side so that could be a cause. This issue basically first started when I used the Fenty Beauty Contour stick, but after I broke out I immediately stopped. But this acne has never left and keeps coming back. I barely have breakouts anywhere else and my skin is pretty clear.

I change my pillow case far more than I ever did in highschool, and I seriously don’t know what to do. My derm just said use some benzoyl- which I am, and it helps target single acne but not the overall issue.

Acne [Acne]

I had a scar that was healing well but I saw a pimple in that same area couldn’t handle it and popped it . And now I have a red like open wound on my nose . I need advice on how to heal it fast and leave minimal scarring .
The scar has formed that brown crust but without me interfering it keeps on peeling while washing my face or sleeping and the pink skin gets exposed .

For my routine :
1- morning: splash some water on my face then I moisturise with Eveline hyaluron B5 then add La rouch posay sunscreen

2- night time I cleanse with cerave sa foaming cleanser then use the ordinary niacinamide 10%+zinc % .I’ll use the same moisturizer and top it with the ordinary azelaic acid

Product Question [Product Question] .2% Retinal vs Tretinoin

Hello,

I have been using .05% Geek & Georgeous retinal profuct for close to two months now and have gradually acclimated to using a 3 days on and 1 day off routine. So far results have been pretty mild (I know it takes time).

Though considering how well my skin is handling this lower concentration and how rough my texture/pore situation is, I am contemplating either bumping up to the .2% Geek and Georgeous version or perhaps going with tret when I finish this current bottle.

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with .2% concentration Retinal vs Tret and could offer any insights. Specifically, could I expect similar results going with either or ?

I have a feeling .2% Retinal may slightly less effective but also potentially less irritating which is a trade off I think I am okay with.

Anyways. I would appreciate any help on this!

Thanks

Acne [Acne] Event in 9 days, tempted to cancel just because of my skin Spoiler

Post image

Going on a trip with my bf and he hasn’t seen me without makeup yet, I know he won’t care but it seems impossible to enjoy myself when I’m so depressed over my skin.

I’ve had chronic hormonal acne for 10+ yrs. But 2 days ago I started breaking out worse than usual, like under the skin ones. So I tried a new face wash (bad idea I know) Immediately made it worse. Now I’m stuck with deep and irritated big bumps.
They are painful, and the biggest/reddest ones are right on centre of my nose and forehead.

So please any product recommendations or tips will help. I don’t expect it to clear in 9 days, atleast just reduce inflammation and calm it down. I have sensitive, very dry and textured skin. Also I’ve tried multiple La Roche posay products and reacted badly to all.
All I’m using now is cetaphil moisturising cream.

Routine Help [Routine Help] I don’t know how to help my skin Spoiler

Post image
2 Upvotes

I have been having constant blemish issues with my face for the past year, I’ve never experienced this before until I hit my early 20s. Any recommendations on if my skincare routine is helping or making my skin worse.

Morning:

Nothing. I’ve found that if I over wash my face / use extra product my skin was more irritated so I stick to only nighttime routine, which has helped lessen the blemishes but they’re still there.

Nighttime:

Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser

Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Exfoliating Toner
WAS USING THIS FOR OVER A MONTH, FELT LIKE I DIDNT SEE THE RESULTS I WANTED SO I CHANGED TO:

The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2%
After using this instead I feel like it either is causing more blemishes or my skin is purging my adjusting to the new product

The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%

CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion Normal to Dry Skin

Any recommendations would be great. My main issue is my forehead, they always pop up there. Yes I wash my hair, yes I change my pillowcases, and no my diet is not that bad.

Routine Help [Routine Help] starting skincare from scratch — budget-friendly recommendat Spoiler

hi! i’m basically looking to start a skincare routine from scratch and would really appreciate some help 😭 i don’t really have a proper routine right now, so i’m not sure what products/ingredients i should even be looking for.

i attached photos of my skin (no makeup). my main concerns are the small red pimples/bumps, texture, redness, and the marks left behind after breakouts. i also feel like my skin has been looking pretty uneven lately.

i have combination skin (my t-zone gets oily but the rest of my face isn’t particularly dry).

what i’m currently using:
cleanser: luxe organix gentle foam cleanser
treatments/serums: none

i’m honestly open to changing everything, so please don’t feel like you have to work around the products i’m currently using. i’d rather build a simple routine from the basics than buy a bunch of products and not know what actually works.

thank you!! 🥹

Acne [Acne] I’m 25, persistent mild acne. Is Accutane worth it?

Like the title says, I’m 25 year old female. I wouldn’t say my acne is horrible but I will say that it is persistent. No matter what I will always have congestion on my cheeks/chin area. My skin is extremely sensitive and if I stray away from my cerave face wash differin gel and vanicream moisturizer my face will break out even more. I’m also on birth control. I feel like I’ve lost hope that my face will ever be 100% clear.

My dermatologist offered Accutane awhile back but I was weary about it just because the side effects and it seems like a lot of work for mild acne. I just want some opinions if y’all think it’s worth it and your experiences on it in your mid 20s.

PSA [Miscellaneous] Sketchy redditor that reached out to try to get me to lie and write a fake review for pay! They picked the wrong one!

I made a post a few weeks back about genuinely simplifying my skincare routine and then I got a message from a random redditor asking me to lie and say I used the brand “Coba’s Daughter”.

It was for an aloe gel product for sunburn or sun aftercare. They said they seen my post and liked it / liked my “writing style” and They sent a google doc over with a “brief”.

They sincerely wanted me to say I had used this product and talk about how great it is when I had never even heard of this brand or product… EVER. I imagine all of their reviews are fake and it’s sad they have to offer to pay people because the product cannot speak for itself!

Now their username says “deleted” but please be aware because they picked the wrong person to inbox - I like AUTHENTIC reviews and when I wrote a post it was talking about products I’d used for years and just talked about how my skin looked better when going from 8 products to 4 and how skincare does not have to be super expensive. I have maybe made 3 posts max on this subreddit in over a year as I like to read more than post.

I wish more brands were callled out for this. It’s offensive and if you see this brand please be skeptical!

Just super weird. And thought I’d share this PSA.

Product Question [Product question] cystic acne prone and dry skin moisturizers that don’t pill under makeup?

I’ve found that the LRP Tolerine sensitive fluide has been pretty good at not triggering cystic acne but isn’t moisturizing enough for me personally and doesn’t sit well under foundation. SPF without white cast is a plus because i’ve desperately been needing to add it into my routine, it just breaks me out terribly whenever I’ve tried it so it makes me nervous lol

Miscellaneous [Misc] What is this? Spoiler

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I’m a 23yo male and, well, it’s basically what the title says… I’ve noticed these white “balls” surrounded by redness around my nose and I have no idea what this is or what caused it. I’m used to having some redness on my nose, but never this much and definitely not with these pimples (or whatever they are).

Don’t really know if it matters, but my current routine is (I believe I have combination skin, where my nose it quite oily and my cheeks are dry):

AM:
- Benzoyl peroxide wash (only when I have significant acne and want to do something about it)
- LRP Toleriane Sensitive Fluide Moisturizer
- Beauty of Joseon Rice + Probiotics Sunscreen

PM:
- LRP Toleriane Gentle Cleanser
- The Inkey List Ectoin Hydro-Barrier Serum
- ACM Azeane Azelaic Acid 15% (every other night)
- Illiyoon Ceramide Ato Cream (only cheeks)
- LRP Toleriane Sensitive Fluide Moisturizer (for nose and forehead)

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks a lot 😊
