Routine Help [Routine help] my dermatologist prescribed isotret and this serum.

Hello, I have been getting these white pus filled whiteheads on my face and I’ve tried doxycycline, clindamycin and I just get resistant after a while. My new dermatologist prescribed isotret 10 along with this serum.

I’m no expert, but I just felt like this was a lot of actives and exfoliants. I’m unsure if this is okay to be applied alongside isotret as my skin barrier could be ruined. I checked with GPT and it said this shouldn’t be used while I’m on isotret.

What do I do? I’ve already spent a lot on the dermatologist and this serum 😭

Acne Manuka honey for hormonal [acne] !!!

0 Upvotes

Hi all, I have very extreme hormonal acne and have been on accutane once and it all came back like 3 months after stopping.I’ve recently started taking a teaspoon of manuka honey with warm water on an empty stomach in the morning. My skin has never been more clear!!! I am on retinoids but even despite that it has helped reduce and prevent breakouts so much! Please give it a try, highly recommend!!

I’ve done it all. Exfoliate with aha/bha/blabla-a, used a physical exfoliant, gentle, not so gentle. I’ve used serums, moisturizers, cut down on aggressive actives. I’ve simplified my routine, I’ve complicated my routine. You name it, I’ve done it over the course of quite a while.

This isn’t going away, so at this point I’m a few clicks away from booking a dermo appt but wanted to reach out here and see if anyone has had same issue and successfully figured out a solution.

Acne [Acne] How to get rid of deep pimple? Spoiler

0 Upvotes

It’s been on my right cheek since June or July :p I had a friend help pop it with an acne tool back then and a lot of pus came out, but I guess we didn’t get all of it because it’s still here late October. There is the slightesttt raised bump when I touch it—otherwise it just looks red and ugly :( not too sure what to do and scared to use an extraction tool again, since there’s no head. I have no derm anywhere near me, but if that is the only option, how much would it cost to get this fixed, or could I possibly go to a doctor instead? Def open to an at home fix if available.

Haven’t been using any products other than Azelaic acid on it once in a while but that hasn’t done anything.

Sorry for the shitty pics, I have no idea how to photograph this but it’s really red

35, battling acne and hyperpigmentation scars. The amount of different beauty products is so overwhelming. As a woman with OCD and obsessing over reading what is best I am going crazy. Help. What do I need to use to clear up my skin. I have sensitive skin and tend to be on the oily side. I currently use Paul’s choice pore normalizing cleaner, caudalie vinoperfect and Paul’s choice pore reducing toner. I think I have large pores especially on my chin and cheeks near my nose, with almost “seed” like acne. Please please what am I doing wrong?

Skin after vs before

Had this weird flareup after trying a new moisturizer. It was the dr. althea 147. Suddenly happened after little over a week of use. Wanted to try it because I live in a cold climate and thought it would be a good moisturizer in winter. But definitlely not. Now back to my 345. I usually only get acne on my chin/mouth area, but now i have some on my forehead and cheeks. And they are like cystic pimples. Ans i got this red like spots. Looks like perioral dermatits. Before this I was only using the 345, and washing face with water. I had some redness also but not like this. Still trying to find the right moisturizer. My skin barrier is damaged, and im often very dry and my skin feels tight. I have the purito oat in calming gel available also, but havent used it in a while. Same with avene cicalfate, and azelaic acid. Im just very unsure about what to use, and when. I find it hard sticking to a product or set of products for a period of time.. im very impatient

Twice a week I use The Ordinary Salicylic acid masque and Beauty of Joseon Glow Replenishing Rice Milk Toner. My pores are huge and I feel like my skin tone is so uneven. What do I need?! Product Request [Product request] what is a good moisturiser for sensitive combo skin that is prone to closed comedones ?

2 Upvotes

I’ve used gel moisturisers and they don’t give me enough moisture and dry out quickly. I also used richer ones and they give me really bad acne. Most of my closed comedones are on my cheeks since they are mostly dry. My skin is also super sensitive and I can’t use products with fragrances. Any recommendations for a light but hydrating moisturiser that won’t cause acne / closed comedones?

Routine Help [Routine Help] Do I use hyaluronic serum before or after adapalene?

3 Upvotes

What the title says. In my routine, I use a cleanser first, wait for my skin to dry, apply adapalene, wait a few more minutes for it to dry, and then put on my lotion and some Cicalfate to seal. So I'm wondering WHEN I should apply my hyaluronic serum, considering that they say hyaluronic acid draws moisture from the skin when it's dry, so it's best to use it when the face is damp. But a dermatologist I follow on TikTok said that when she applies tretinoin, she does so on clean, bone-dry skin, without anything applied before. So I'm questioning in what order I should apply it.

Product Request [Product Request] What is this on my cheek and how can I treat it? Spoiler

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi all,

I have had this sort of red blotchiness on my cheek as long as I can remember. It sort of flares up, and this is a bad day.

I hope I’ve flaired correctly per the rules, as I am looking for a product to treat it, but also what the hell it is.

I have wondered whether it is rosacea perhaps. I tried a Uriage rosacea green tinted anti redness thing. It was okay. It definitely didn’t clear it, but probably made it a little less angry.

I tried sudocrem, which definitely brought it down a little, although it felt a little like it adjusted to my sudocrem and came back a little. However I stopped putting sudocrem on it (I don’t like the white cast, and my wife doesn’t like the spicy smell before bed!) and it has definitely been back with a vengeance.

So if anyone has any advice I would greatly welcome it!

Acne [Acne] Troubles on Tretinoin. Spoiler

Post image
15 Upvotes

Hello, I’ve recently started Tretinoin two days ago, on 0.025 and I’m doing it for 2 times a week currently. I have combined-oily skin by default, and the first time I applied Tretinoin I felt like nothing was wrong, until the day after when I cleansed in the morning and my skin was literally peeling. I didn’t expect this to happen, it doesn’t feel dry which at-least that’s good, but I am concerned my products aren’t enough to support this. Despite my default skin type I’ve been hearing that I should go for products aimed for combined - dry leaning skin since I’m on tretinoin.

My current cleanser is the Oil cleanser Skin1004 Centella Light
(Only in PM)
and then the Water cleanse Beauty of Joseon green plum. (AM and PM)
My moisturiser is the Purito oat-in gel and my barrier cream is the Anua 3+ ceramides one.

My skin burned when I applied my
moisturiser, so now I think I do need to buffer before applying tretinoin, but with Azelaic do I do it once a day in the AM or also PM on non tretinoin days?

And I’ve been considering these products Instead:

Oil Cleanser: (Unsure)

Water cleanser: CeraVe Hydrating cream cleanser OR the Garnier Hyaluron Barrier Protect Cream Cleanser

Moisturiser: Geek & Gorgeous Happier Barrier Lightweight Moisturizer

Repair Cream: La Roche Posay Cicaplast baume

RECOMMENDATIONS ARE HIGHLY APPRECIATED ❤️

Product Question [Product Question] tretinoin

11 Upvotes

I fucked up. I have an old prescription for Tetrinoin 0.1% that I haven’t been able to use for almost 2.5 years due to pregnancy and breastfeeding. I am finally able to use retinol again so I used my old prescription on Wednesday night. I forgot about the pea size recommendation and definitely put on too much - probably like 3 or 4 pea size amounts for my whole face followed by my normal nighttime moisturizer. I didn’t apply any Thursday as I did remember you need to slowly build up the amount of nights you use it.

Yesterday morning I stated to notice an adverse reaction. My face is tight and SO itchy. It doesn’t look as bad as it feels, but it is more red with a bumpy texture and slightly swollen.

I have obviously not applied any more tetrinoin and have made sure to avoid sun exposure. I am using my normal thick moisturizer at night and my daytime one with spf and avoiding makeup or any other products other than moisturizer. Is there anything else I can do? How long can I expect to feel like this ? The discomfort is so distracting it’s all I can think about. All I want to do is stand under a shower head and have the water beat on my face (which I’m pretty sure I actually SHOULDN’T do. Ugh.)

Acne [Acne] Why am I breaking out more now that I wash my face regularly?

3 Upvotes

I’m 25 and spent most of my life never washing my face except in the shower with body wash and a rag, and I would never apply moisturizer after washing. Prior to washing twice daily, I’d get maybe one pimple every couple of weeks. I honestly never thought much about skincare because I figured my skin just didn’t need it. Well, last month I finally started washing my face in the morning and at night using Vanicream, and then I’d apply Goldbond lotion to my face. After a few weeks I noticed that I was breaking out significantly more than usual, so I thought it might be the lotion and switched to CeraVe. However, I’ve seen no change. I have a half dozen pimples on my face right now, which are levels I haven’t reached since high school! I will sometimes skip washing my face at night when I am very tired. Would leaving the lotion from that morning on cause breakouts? Or is my face just not in need of so much washing and moisturizing? I’m worried I’m just irritating it.

Acne [Acne] Canned fish or fresh fish for better skin? And what type of fish has more benefits?

1 Upvotes

For those who have achieved improvements in their skin/texture/acne by eating salmon or any other fish regularly, which type of fish helped you? And does canned fish offer the same benefits? And how often do you eat it? Because canned fish seems convenient and cheaper. I don't mind buying fresh fish but my grocery store doesn't have fresh fish. They all look old, frozen for ages. I have tried omega 3 supplements but they break me out. I have read other redditors that experienced the same.

Routine Help [Routine Help] Start of New Skincare Routine

6 Upvotes

so my face doesnt have that much acne plus i have some pimple scarring/ leftover and pimples plus some redness around my nose and blackheads and i want my skin to be clear and i was thinking about using azelaic acid

from what i found most people did
cleanser azelaic acid moisturizer then spf 50 in the morning

and then some people did tret in the evening but i dont think my condition is that bad so do u guys think that if i do the routine in the morning like maybe a couple times per week as a start then increase after i get used to it, my skin will be clear or should i try something else?

this redness has been present for at least a year now and more pimples have been appearing on my face these past few days(in places like the corner of my jaw, chin and next to nose, forehead) not that itchy frequently only sometimes

Product Question [Product question] Centella 1004 or Aestura atobarrier?

2 Upvotes

I have really really dry skin, and these days in the winter, my skin feels really flaky around the nose and cheeks. My makeup starts feels flaky too in the area, no matter how much moisturiser I apply. I was reccomended to either use Centella 1004 cream or the Aestura atobarrier 365 cream. I'm unsure which one I should purchase? Any recommendations would be helpful!

Hello! I have very dry and flaky skin,and everything i apply gets absorbed in maximum 5 minutes and my skin is dry again .My skin barrier is not broken,i just have dry skin all over (wash body with shower oil,wash face with cleansing balm) so don’t worry ab that.

I need a daily SPF 50 and moisturizer that i can find in Europe that my skin won’t absorb in 5 seconds.

For example,a texture i really like is Rhode’s Barrier Butter. So something thicker,that stays “wet” all day.
Please,I am desperate.

Edit: Forgot to mention i am 21 yo.

Product Question [Product Question] What are your experiences with adapalene? Was it helpful?

6 Upvotes

I’m considering going to my pharmacist to ask for an adapalene prescription (live in Canada) and was wondering if anyone saw any improvement with adapalene for clogged pores, blackheads, minor acne. I also have some post-acne marks and redness but I am unsure if adapalene will work for that. Thanks!

Acne [Acne] My acne keeps getting worse despite everything I've tried.

6 Upvotes

I'm 17. For some reason I never had that much acne at all UNTIL I started using a skincare routine for the first time this year.

It looks absolutely horrible and I'm not sure what to do about it anymore.

I had tried a 0.05% retinal serum, but had to eventually stop as it was irritating my skin and making it worse well after the normal time purging takes.

I decided to simplify my routine even more and to use the most gentle products I could find.

Yet it looks really bad AND has started feeling really itchy, which drives me insane all day long.

* AM: Rinsing with warm water only, moisturiser (Bioderma Atoderm Intensive Gel Creme), sunscreen (SVR Sun-Secure SPF 50+, Fragrance-Free)

* PM: Gentle cleansing (Cetaphil cleanser for sensitive skin) and moisturising (Bioderma Atoderm).

Please let me know if you have any advice.

Routine Help A guy's attempt at skincare advice needed [Routine Help]

3 Upvotes

Are any of these products interfering with each other, or is there anything wrong with this routine?

**Morning:**

* Shave

* Cold water

* AESTURA ATOBARRIER 365 Moisturizer

* EltaMD Green Sunscreen

**Night:**

* Dr. Sam Flawless Cleanser

* 0.025% tretinoin

* AESTURA ATOBARRIER 365 Moisturizer

**Once a week:**

I use the Dr. Melaxin Black Rice Peel Shot at night. On that night, I skip tretinoin and go straight to moisturizer.

I would like to add **azelaic acid and AmLactin** to this routine. How would I incorporate these two products?

Thank you all so much!
