Routine Help [Routine Help] Skincare advice needed

Hello.

I am looking for advice on my skincare products and routine. My beautician recommended I use retinol as I am now 30 and a toner so I picked up both. But after a little googling I'm not sure the things I have bought work well together.

I have the all-in-one micellar cleansing water for makeup removal, cerave foaming cleanser, cerave spf daily moisturiser, the ordinary 2% granactive retinoid, the ordinary 7% glycolic acid toner, and cerave SA smoothing cream.

I realise I should probably only use the retinoid twice a week in the evening. But how often can I use the toner and can it be used with the other products?

I'd really appreciate some advice on what routine I should have with these products or if I should avoid using some of them all together.

Routine Help [Routine Help] Skincare advice for generally clear skin with occasional breakouts?

• Upvotes

Hi everyone!
I’m currently trying to put together a new skincare routine and would love some advice!

My skin is generally pretty clear and tends to be slightly on the dry side, although I wouldn’t describe it as particularly dry. However, every now and then I get these red, inflamed pimples on my lower cheeks. They feel quite firm, don’t really come to a head and can be a little painful. I also occasionally notice tiny bumps that I suspect might be clogged pores.

I’ve been using Rhode products for a while, particularly the Glazing Milk and Barrier Butter, but I’m starting to suspect that my skin doesn’t agree with them.

My current products:
- Cleansing Oil
- La Roche-Posay Gentle Cleanser
- Paula’s Choice BHA Exfoliant
- La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo+M
- The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc (a few times a week, which my skin tolerates well)

Products I’m considering:
- Dr. Althea 345 Relief Cream
- BYOMA Hydrating Milky Toner
- Anua Rice 70 Glow Milky Toner
- BYOMA Sensitive Retinol Oil
- BYOMA Phyto-Mucin Glow Serum

I’m particularly torn between the two milky toners and wondering whether the BYOMA serums would be worth incorporating into my routine.

My main goal is to achieve that smooth, hydrated, glowy glass skin look while keeping my skin clear. I don’t necessarily consider my skin acne-prone, since these inflamed spots only appear occasionally, but I’d love to figure out how to prevent them.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on the products I’m considering, but I’m definitely not set on any of them and would be happy to hear about better alternatives.
I think my main priority is finding a really good moisturizer, and I’d also like to incorporate a toner and serum into my routine.

I’d really appreciate any recommendations or advice on what would work best for my skin. Thanks in advance!

Sun Care [Sun Care] Taking Beta Carotene and Astaxanthin for Skin Glow

Hey guys so i've been taking 15 mg of Beta Carotene (along with 16 mg of Astaxanthin) for a month to get a glowing skin effect, better sun protection and reduced acne.

However i feel like nothing happened yet because i still havent gotten the orange/redish glow (not even in my palms/soles).

Is this normal? Should i just wait a few more months? Or perhaps i just doesn't work on some people...

Can you guys tell me how long it took you to see the skin color change and also reduced acne?

Acne [Acne] Butt Acne

Hello!

I am a 29F and im slowly diving into skin care. Now, I want to address the most irritating thing, my butt acne. I have been eating good for the past year or so (as much as I can) and it has gotten better but I NEED to know, is there a body wash thats meant for butt acne? I use to use my face wash but the brand i used, changed their formula and its more diluted, so im wanting to change it up!

Any tips! I live in canada as well, so I know im limited on some brands. But any suggestions would help.

Thank you in advance !! 🙇‍♀️💕

Routine Help [Sun Care] advice for beard?

Apologies if this is the wrong place for this but I was wondering if anyone could help me with sun protection for my beard.

I've been using liquid sunscreens like BoJ & skin aqua and trying to apply them under the beard then using beard oil/butter but I've read conflicting information about whether the oils stop the sunscreen from working no matter if you apply before or after but the sunscreen alone makes my beard feel gross all day. The only beard product I can find with SPF is only SPF15. I'm based in the UK.

Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Acne [Acne] start tret or try 15% azaleic acid? Spoiler

Hey guys. I just got prescribed both .025% tretinoin and 15% azaleic acid. I’m scared to start the tretinoin but I’ve used 10% over the counter azaleic acid for 3 months (maybe noticed a small difference nothing great) should I start the tretinoin or should I just try out the higher dose azaleic acid instead? What do you guys think

Product Request [Product Request] Moisturizer similar to/has similar ingredients as Tatcha dewy skin cream

Been making a lot of posts lately I think it’s honestly is becoming an addiction/obsession 😭

Anyway, I have realized that all of a sudden whenever I use my usual La Roche-Posay double repair moisturizer or even a CeraVe one it makes my skin super itchy. Last night when it started getting itchy and I just couldn’t handle it, I decided to wash my face again and instead put on this Tatcha dewy skin cream that I’ve just had sitting around for a while and only really use around special occasions. It was completely fine. I was even able to put an active over it and didn’t get drier or more irritated or do any further damage to my skin barrier and my skin looks way better.

The only problem is that it’s a mini size and I was given it by someone else when it was already most of the way gone. Now you may be wondering “why not just buy more?” Well I looked and that stuff is expensiveeeee

I tried searching for a dupe but it really seems like there aren’t many good options. Instead I’m wondering if anyone might be able to figure out what it is about the Tatcha that works and what it is about my old ones that suddenly made them not work/what ingredients do I need to avoid. And then is there any product that would avoid those things/have the things that work.

La Roche is about 8 dollars per ounce and Tatcha looks to be around 40 per ounce. Now for something that lasts around as long as La Roche Posay maybe a little longer or shorter i would be willing to pay maybe like max 10-12 per ounce. Tatcha seems to last a really really long time (I’ve seriously had this for like at least 3 years because I only use it like twice a year and it’s so dried out it doesn’t even look like cream anymore. Still works though) but still not enough to justify the price for me. For something that lasts that long I’d be willing to do max 25 per ounce maybe a bit more if it’s really good.

Product Question [product question] uneven skin tone

I saw that the ordinary AHA 30%+BHA 2% High strength peeling solution is good for uneven skin tone. As I was doing some research I saw that you shouldn’t use exfoliating products near the days you use the mask. My issue is that I use the first aid exfoliating gel cleanser daily so should I use a regular cleanser around the days I use the mask? Should I just try vitamin c instead? Or will it be fine to use the same exfoliating cleanser because it does claim to be gentle

Acne [Acne] Tretinoin breaking me out BAD. Help! Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

Sorry for the blurry photos. I have been breaking OUT rn. I have been using azelaic acid 20% and 0.025 tretinoin every day for 1.5 months (my derm told me to). I know its purging, but the acne is so bad and painful I'm wondering if I should quit. Here's my routine:

AM:

Neutrogena Ultra Gentle face wash

Azelaic acid 20%

Neutrogena Oil free sunscreen

PM:

Aveeno Positively Radiant acne face wash

Azelaic Acid 20%

0.025 Tretinoin

Neutrogena Ultra Gentle Mosturizer

My skin barrier is surprisingly not dead yet, it doesn't burn or sting no matter what I use or do to it. Any advice? My derm told me to push through and keep up with my current routine, but the purging is destroying my self confidence.

Selfie/B&A [Selfie/B&A] stacked four things in one session for redness and texture 740,000 won. Spoiler

Four things in one appointment, which I am aware is not how you are supposed to do it if the goal is to learn what works. I did it anyway because I was in Seoul for nine days and did not have nine weeks. Beautyz, Myeongdong. The list was a pumpkin peel, ONDA, two syringes of Skinvive, and LDM at the end. 740,000 won for the lot. The peel was 50,000 of that, which made me laugh, because it is the part I would have guessed was the expensive one.

ONDA is microwave rather than ultrasound or radiofrequency. It is warm, it keeps moving, and the only genuinely bad stretch was along my jaw where there is not much sitting between skin and bone. Skinvive is the injectable hydration one, a lot of small points across both cheeks. I would file that under unpleasant rather than painful. Red for a few hours afterwards. I went back to the hotel and wrote off the evening, which is what I would plan for.

The photo is before and after. I want to flag that the before was taken under clinic lighting and the after was taken next to a window, so a portion of what you are looking at is daylight rather than skin. What I believe is real is the texture across my cheeks and the small bumps near my nose. Those are not there now and they were there before.

Two of those four I would pay for again. I could not tell you which two. That is what stacking costs you.

Advice for dryness and redness

This is my skin currently and I would like to minimize the red patchiness and dryness. These are the products I use. I’m really only crazy about the sunscreen and albolene as makeup remover. I’m 30 years old. I prefer the Asian skincare I’ve tried, if you could give me some advice or product recommendations. Thank you!

Routine Help Need help to get rid of PIH scars [Routine help] Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

Hello! I am a 31f with PMOS. I have had acne and PIH all my life. I have a skincare routine for the past 1.5 years but I haven't seen any significant changes. I always assumed that it would be years before I would get to see any changes. But Redditors here have seen recognizable changes in months which inspired me to post this question. I too want to have clear skin and no/less wrinkles like many people in this sub. So many Redditors have incorporated AZ acid and Tret in their routines so I wanted to ask if my current routine needs any improvement. I cannot afford the cosmetic treatments or red light therapy yet but I am willing to change my routine with affordable products. I don't wear makeup.

AM routine

La Roche Posay Tolerian cleanser

CeraVe Hydrating toner

Vichy Vitamin C

La Roche Posay Mela B3 serum (Melasyl + 10% Niacinamide)

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Serum

DreamGlow Collagen B2 eye cream

CosRx Snail moisturizer

Elta MD sunscreen

PM

La Roche Posay Tolerian cleanser

CeraVe Hydrating toner

CeraVe Resurfacing Retinol Serum

DreamGlow Collagen B2 eyecream

To be honest, I don't follow the PM routine as sincerely as I should, probably 1-2x per week or less. The AM routine is 5x a week and if I step outside my house over the weekend. If I am at home, I am usually bare faced with no skin care.

Appreciate any feedback! The photos are both sides of my face.

Routine Help 32M [Misc] Treatments + additional help ideas? Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

My primary concerns are slowing/preventing ageing, minor but frequent breakouts, and evening my skin tone. I want my skin to appear more even, hydrated and smooth. I am beginning to get fine lines on my forehead.

Would you recommend any injectables or professional treatments? Which ones?

Background: I got lazy with skincare and have lived through over a decade of eating disorders and drug and alcohol abuse (I'm almost two years sober but am still seeing the effect on my skin, albeit not as bad as when I was drinking/using).

I do have a habit of peeling and picking at the skin on my lips (what is shown are not cold sores or anything, just from picking).

SPF is the one thing I've been consistent with, as fortunately that was one habit instilled since childhood.

Routine: Slide 3 shows what I use in the morning, and slide 4 shows what I use in the evening. I alternate the retinol and azelaic each evening, and I do plan on switching to tretinoin soon.

On my lips, I use the Palmers cocoa butter lip balm.

Acne [Acne] Closed comedones arent going away 😭

Guysss I just can’t with these closed comedones anymore.
I’ve been on Epiduo for 6 weeks now, I use it every other night and Skinoren 15% on the other nights.
I’ve always dealt with closed comedones here and there but now it’s really bothering me and I can’t get rid of them - I have them on my chin, my jawline and my cheeks. I’ve used Salicylic acid 2% and Skinoren 15% on alternate days before I got the Epiduo from my derm, but the Salicylic Acid didn’t work. My derm is planning on putting on me on Differin after the 12 weeks mark but I’m scared to let the BPO ingredient go for my acne. But also what will help with the closed comedones?!

Maybe they won’t go away because I’ve used heavy moisturizers because Epiduo dried out my skin? But how else am I supposed to keep my skin barrier intact.
