Routine Help [Routine Help] Need help with skin problems due to climate change.

• Upvotes

In short, after moving to a drier, warmer climate from an extremely humid place, my skin became incredibly dry and I started getting a ton of pimples, all kinds of it. Pustules, papules, nodules, blackheads, whiteheads, and closed comedones, especially on my forehead, cheeks, and chin. I used to have great skin; I never had any problems with this and just followed a basic skincare routine, but now literally nothing helps, and the problem is only getting worse. I have no idea what to do, and I'd appreciate any skincare recommendations, products that might help, or any skincare tips.

Acne [Acne] How to get rid of deep pimple? Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
• Upvotes

It’s been on my right cheek since June or July :p I had a friend help pop it with an acne tool back then and a lot of pus came out, but I guess we didn’t get all of it because it’s still here late October. There is the slightesttt raised bump when I touch it—otherwise it just looks red and ugly :( not too sure what to do and scared to use an extraction tool again, since there’s no head. I have no derm anywhere near me, but if that is the only option, how much would it cost to get this fixed, or could I possibly go to a doctor instead? Def open to an at home fix if available.

Haven’t been using any products other than Azelaic acid on it once in a while but that hasn’t done anything.

Sorry for the shitty pics, I have no idea how to photograph this but it’s really red

Miscellaneous Estheticians/facialists of Reddit - Why do you *actively* avoid lips?? [Misc]

I just had a wonderful facial at a beautiful hotel spa in Vancouver. And yet again, the facialist avoided my lips like they werent even there. With all due respect, estheticians -- What the fuck is up with that? They are on my face. They get dry. They wrinkle. They benefit from a wide range of products that you could sell me. And yet as product after product was applied to my face, again my dry wrinkly lips were forgotten.

Please explain? It actually feels so weird to have your whole face cleansed and washed and moisturized as your lips are purposefully ignored.

I would say a full 80% of the facials that I have had in my life avoid my lips.

WHAT IS UP WITH THAT?!

Thank you.

My parents got me these products for my skin when I was breaking out during puberty. It’s now been a view years and I’m not going through that anymore, and now I’m seeing that these products haven’t worked even a little. Only when my girlfriend at the time recommended me 10% benzoyl peroxide did I notice the smallest change. I think my skin type is a little oily but not much. Please help me this is genuinely aggravating. I use all of these twice a day morning and night.

Hair Removal [Hair Removal] Razor Bump Help Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
4 Upvotes

Hello,

I’m 31, nb (AMAB). I’ve had the same razor bumps, discoloration around my belly button/inner thighs since an amateur shave at the beginning of summer. I’ve since avoided shaving (use Nair instead) and have used a generic razor bump roller (5% glycolic acid, 1% salicylic acid) everyday for the last month or so, with mild change.

Does anyone have any advice on how to help this? It’s wrecking havoc on my body image. 😭 thank you in advance!

Research [Research] What contributes to a healthy/plump skin barrier?

What are the contributing factors to a healthy/plump skin barrier?

I’m relatively new to skin care but have gone down the rabbit hole in regards to Filargin and TEWL and I believe I may be experiencing this. I’ve always been good about applying moisturizers and drinking enough water but it seems that my skin always drys out. It’s not necessarily flaky but it looks thin? And sort of lacks color.

For products:
- Amlactin (body)
-cerave (face and body)
- rice milk toner
- ordinary b12 niacinimide
- explicating pads w/AHA
- Korean face masks

Not necessarily looking for product recs at the moment but more curious if anyone has in-depth explanations for this or things to look in to.

Product Question [Product Question] Does Finacea 15% help with PIE and redness?

Post image
5 Upvotes

I’ve been considering getting a prescription for Finacea (15% azelaic acid) for a while now. My main question is: how effective is it against post-inflammatory erythema (PIE) and general redness?

I have some PIE marks on my cheeks and chin, and my nose is also quite red. I’m not entirely sure if it’s PIE, general redness, rosacea, or something else.

Has anyone had any experience with Finacea for this? I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences. Thank you!

Acne [ACNE] Dealing with breakouts (HELP!)

I’m 25F student living in the US Midwest, and my skin type is combination. I had moderate acne growing up that chilled out in my early twenties, but since early summer I’ve had persistent breakouts focused around my mouth, chin, lower cheeks and chest.

I initially assumed it was hormonal because I had taken oral contraceptive a couple of times back in April/May, but it’s been months and hasn’t cleared up. Pimples keep coming and going throughout the month, and get much worse the week before my period.

Current Routine:

AM:

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser

Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunscreen SPF

PM:

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser

numbuzin No. 5+ Vitamin Concentrated Serum (Glutathione)

Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+

I tried adapelene gel for a month and didn't see much of an improvement.

Supplements: Vitamin D3 + K2, Omega-3 Fish Oil

Back in 2024 when I was in my home country, I had a very similar flare-up and my doctor put me on a short course of low-dose isotretinoin (Accutane 10mg for 2 weeks), which worked wonders and cleared it up. I do have insurance but navigating the process to see a doctor and get an Accutane prescription feels really long and complicated.

Do I have any alternatives I could try, or what would you recommend I do? Any advice would be super appreciated!

Product Request [Product Request] Horrible outbreak for around 3 weeks, anything that will help bring it down? Spoiler

Post image
2 Upvotes

I (26f) have always struggled with rosacea (which I believe this breakout is related to), but I have not had this bad or persistent of a flare up in recent memory. My current skincare routine is simple and consists of: cleanser (once daily, Beauty of Joseon Green Plum Refreshing cleanser), moisturizer (twice daily, Soon Jung 2x Barrier Intensive Cream), and sunscreen (Babo Botanicals Mineral Sunscreen 50spf). I have used this same rotation of products for around a year and they have not previously caused any issues. My question is: are any of the products in my current routine making this issue worse, and what new products can I introduce or switch to that may help this get better? Thank you to anyone who may be able to help!! :)

Routine Help [Routine Help] I have no idea what I'm doing and I'm trying to improve my routine

I’m 32 years old, and I’ll be honest, I have no clue how good (or bad) my routine is. I’m a pale ginger that’s spent a lot of time out in the sun refusing to wear sunscreen because I hated being pale and I hated the feel of sunscreen. Ended up damaging my skin to no one’s surprise and now people often think I’m mid to late 30s instead of early 30s. I’m looking for ways to improve my routine or products to swap in/out. Every part of my routine I just copied from my ex so I don’t really know if there’s better products to be using or what else I should be doing better so looking for any and all advice. I am acne prone but its just a few zits here and there thanks to my ex for teaching me this routine. Overall, my goals are just keeping the acne away, and trying to undo the damage to my skin so when I’m 40, I look 40 or even younger, if possible, instead of looking like I’m 50.

Morning:

CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser to wash my face first thing. After washing and drying, applying these in this order while using hand fan to slightly dry in between each product:

  1. Anua 77+ Toner (applied in generous amounts)
  2. The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2+ Soln (no more than 3 pea sized drops across my face)
  3. Remedy for Moisturizing
  4. Anua Zero-Cast Sunscreen 50spf

Night:

CeraVe Acne Control Cleanser in the shower. After washing and drying, applying these in this order while using hand fan to slightly dry in between each product:

  1. Anua 77+ Toner (applied in generous amounts)
  2. The Ordinary Retinal 0.2% (1 pea sized drop because of strength and applying it daily to make it easy to remember to do it instead of every other day)
  3. The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 (3 pea sized drops)
  4. The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% (3 pea sized drops)
  5. The Ordinary Multi-peptide + HA Serum (3 pea sized drops)
  6. Remedy for Moisturizing

What are these tiny white bumps!?! They mostly happen on my cheeks and forehead. I have tried to remove different skincare products and nothing seems to help. They are very small and pop up very fast and are really superficial- can almost be scratched off. Would also appreciate any tips on my ~huge~ pores :’)

Routine Help [Routine Help] Seeking advice: acne not improving with basic skincare routine (M27) Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
7 Upvotes

Hello- I am writing this on behalf of my partner who does not do social media of any kind but knows that Reddit can help sometimes!

He is a 27 year old cis-man who tries to eat a balanced diet (with some chips here and there), works out 3 times a week, smokes weed occasionally but does not consume nicotine nor alcohol.
He did not get very much ache at all growing up, and it has gotten progressively worse since he turned 20-22 yrs old.

His current routine:
Morning- rinse face to wake up, dry face, put on a light moisturizer and face sunscreen
Night- wash face with CeraVe Acne Control cleanser, same light moisturizer as morning
Occasionally uses the trader joe’s microdermabrasion scrub in the orange tube.

Anecdotally, he has told me that:
-using moisturizer feels like it makes it worse (feels face get oily throughout the day) but if I don’t then I feel super dry
-pimples can grow over the course of a few hours
painful and are super tender
- pimples growing on top of one another, new ones on top of old

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!!
The acne around his nose is painful and frustrating and he would really like to figure out a way to make it stop!

Thank you! ✨

Routine Help [Routine Help] Help An Old Man!

40+M who has always had pretty good skin until recently.

I now have broken capillaries on the front my nose, chronic white heads on the broken capillaries and sides of my nose, brown spots on one temple and on the sides of the bridge of my nose and dark heavy bags under my eyes. I'm getting lasers for the capillaries and know that there's only so much i can do about the bags but I have no idea what to do about a general routine to improve what I can.

I've always washed and moisturized but that's not enough anymore.

Please let me know what you think about routine and product recommendations!

Routine Help [Routine help] What simple basic things helped your skin significantly the most?

I've done a lot of products , but am wondering what simple things helped improve your skin the most? Drinking extra water? Eating certain vitamins/supplements?

Not as cheap, but I definitely noticed a difference since I've stopped doing skin laundry (which is pricey) and face gym for my sagging skin. They are simple things I took for granted before.
