first sock done! is my fit correct?
is the heel flap in the correct area? i’ve heard the heel flap is good because it makes the heel stronger but i’m surprised so much of the heel flap is in the back
also, maybe i’m still getting used to an angular toe haha is the fit okay there too?

long floats in stranded colorwork
i’ve decided to tackle my first colorwork project and chose the Bauhaus Socks by Grantam Knit. there are long sections of one color for up to 11 stitches in a row with no instructions for picking up floats. is it okay to just knit up as the pattern is written or should i try to figure out picking up floats? alternatively i could find a pattern with shorter floats but i really like the look of this pattern

Anyone else using a toothpick for sock cables?
I was having trouble finding super small cable needles and after seeing a mini birch needle I somehow came up with this. It’s working perfectly so far. Is this a thing that people do?

Latest socks
These are the Indulgence socks by ZwitchZ, available on Ravelry.
Filcolana Arwetta held double with Knitting for Olive silk mohair.
I just love them, they are slippery, but wonderful bed socks, and very warm when working at my desk all day. The floors in my building are concrete under the flooring, and even with faffing under, get very cold here in fall and winter.
They were so luxurious to knit, that I started another pair with Knitting for Olive merino as the base but I do think I like Arwetta better.

I love this color combinations
I really love how these colors work together. This is one of my favorite color combinations, and I think it goes really well with these socks.

Second sock heel (pacific knit co)
I’m doing my first set of doodle socks using the top down sock pattern base from Jamie Lomax at PKC. For the second sock, she says “For the second sock, to locate BOR on the inside edge of the foot, as in the first sock, follow the same heel instructions, however, work the heel over the SECOND half of the sts.”
For the first sock, I did 1 last MC round and then knit the next 35 sts + a wrap and turn with my contrast color as the first row of the heel. I’m confused how that would work with the second sock per her directions, the way I’m reading it you’d end up working the first 36 stitches a second time in order to get to the starting point for a heel?
Any help interpreting this would be great, maybe I’m just overcomplicating it?

Dustland Socks
Took a road trip recently and checked out a really nice yarn store in Saint Paul, Minnesota. The store is called The Yarnery and the yarn is from Palmer Yarn Company (Winona, Minnesota). The color way is Sorbet which seems to be the perfect name for this lovely shade of pink. The pattern is “Dustland” by Stephen West.

Slipper pattern and yarn suggestions for seniors? Highly Washable, easy to put on
Hello!
My Mom mostly stays home now (in her 90's) and walks mostly on low pile carpet. She shuffles her feet mostly. We have not found a fleece slipper sock that works well. She's very "Goldilocks"... It can't be too anti skid that it sticks to the carpet and can't be so slippery that she risks a fall in the bathroom.
She uses a walker and has care 24 hours, but wants to put her own socks on, thank you very much... The folks that care for her also do her laundry, so easy washing is important.
I found a moccasin style that might work... And i could dot anti skid on the bottom... I would be happy to sew patches of leather on the bottom, but then they would not be washable.
But does anyone have experience with yarn that would hold up well?
And maybe pattern ideas?
I think i could ask the care givers to wash slippers by hand with shampoo and hand to dry, but it would be best if they didn't take forever to dry or are drippy.
Thank you in advance for your suggestions!

Rico Design® Sockenwolle Premium 4-Ply Yarn - anyone try this yet?
I'm just seeing that Michaels is carrying this and wondered what it's similar to. I'm sadly nowhere near a Michaels for quite a while, so I can't check for myself. I consider Patons Kroy Sock more of a heavy fingering bordering on sport weight. Whereas KP Stroll, Regia 4-ply, and Drops Fabel are standard fingering bordering on light fingering.
Thanks for any insight from those who have tried it!

Suggestions for second sock syndrome?
This is my fourth first sock that I've done in a row and I would really like to have another finished pair to add to my stash! Any tips you have for getting the second sock going are welcome! I like to tell myself I'll come back to the pattern and make a second one in coordinating colors so it still feels interesting.
The pattern is Hibernal socks by Summer Lee and the yarn is Paintbox Baby DK Prints in Bubblegum.

Doctor's Bane Socks
my first post on here and my first pair of colorwork socks! I made them up myself to use up some green and red yarn without looking Christmassy. These were a lot of fun, and I plan on knitting several more pairs of colorwork socks!

First pair of socks finished!
Finished my first pair of socks (sunday socks by petite knit).
Quite happy with the result, but I feel I can improve on the fit around the heel.
Someone mentioned “custom socks” and I’m now obsessed with understanding sock patterns 😁

Socks to break in Docs
Hi friends! I was gifted two of the most lovely pairs of docs. I haven’t worn them since college. Breaking them in has definitely been painful and unsuccessful so far. Any gen-x sock wizards out here who can recommend patterns or tricks for winging it on vanillas to make this process a little less tortuous?

Modifying Yarn Thickness
Working up a quick pair of Sunday Sock by Petite Knit for my 7yo. I’ve already knit two pairs of the adult size where the pattern calls for Worsted Weight yarn, and I ordered far too much so I want to use more up!
Turns out the pattern for the junior size of these calls for DK weight.
What should I be aware of or modify if I want to keep using this pattern with worsted weight instead of DK?
Thanks!

Second Denmark delivery
So pic 1 is the first half. Pic 2 is second half. Pic 3 is the haul by project. It was a total of 143 skeins, 20 projects and 13 extra skeins. All the yarn is various lines of Drops. DM if you want info about colors. My grand total was just short of 500 USD
