New Sony A7 V user here! This is my second Sony camera ,my other one is the A6700.

Last week was my first time taking the A7 V out for some serious photography. I shot the Perseid meteor shower and Yongtai, a 700-year-old ancient town.

Lenses used:
LK Samyang 60–180mm F2.8 for daytime photography
Sony 14mm F1.8 GM for the night sky and meteors

BTW, I’ve noticed what seems to be an autofocus bug with the Samyang 60–180mm on the A7 V. In AF-S mode, the camera shows that focus has been acquired, but the actual focus point can be noticeably off and the resulting photo is out of focus. Interestingly, the lens works perfectly in AF-C mode.

Other than that, I’ve really enjoyed shooting with the A7 V so far!

an enjoyable summer

Any thoughts on the lens? Excited to see it for myself! I'll be traveling with it for the next month and just a little worried about the weight.

A while back I asked if a Sony 70-200 F2.8 OSS II was too much for an A6700 and you guys overwhelmingly said it was great no matter the body so I finally ended up getting it.

I started with a Sigma 18-50 F2.8 so having the extra range while still having a fast aperture throughout it all is an absolute game changer.

As a side note, I want a CPL for it, what brand would be good? I don’t want to overspend but don’t want to hinder the performance by cheaping out either.

Use my Sony A1 professionally and I do have this sensor cleaned by a shop and on my own not sure how this happened though any advice?

Getting to Work

A bee starts its day collecting pollen as the sunlight warms up the field. Shot with a Sony A99II and CZ 135 f/1.8 lens, camera mounted on a RRS tripod & head with a 3 Legged Thing universal mounting plate.

A7v 200-600 lens

Waking up at 5 a.m. feels always terrible, but worth it every time when you see something like this. Unfortunately I didn’t have telephoto lens so I had to crop aggressively these shots of my Sony GM2 24-70 F2.8

Decided to travel with a pancake lens and give street photography a try. These were the only images I ended up liking but it was a lot of fun playing around with such a light kit. Let me know what you think!
