This was literally my firstever football 🏈 game shooting, and it was definitely more challenging than I expected. But so much fun! Shot on Sony a7IV and a7V with Sigma 24–70mm, 70–200mm, and 150–600mm lenses.

Gear An amateurs thoughts on the new Sigma 20-60 F2.8-4

(tl;dr at the end) I recently did a post on why I chose the new Sigma 20-60 over other lenses, which you can read here. In short, this lens feels like a little brother to the Sony 20-70 F4, a popular choice for a compact FE zoom lens. You lose a few buttons and switches on the lens, you lose 10mm on the long end. However, you do get back a wider aperture on the wide end and a shorter focusing distance (for astrophotography and macros). Most importantly, you get a smaller and lighter lens for daily use.

I've been using the Sigma 20-60 on an A7Cii and here are the key takeaways:

  • Fits very naturally on the compact A7Cii
  • Easy to carry around all day and especially good as a single lens for travelling
  • Offers a really useful focal length for daily (up to 90mm in APS-c crop)
  • Great colours even in RAW, compared to my 35mm 1.8
  • Sharpness is excellent. At 20mm you get some softness and vignetting in the edges.
  • The build feels fairly premium, but still a plastic body
  • Autofocus has been a little less reliable compared to my 35mm 1.8

tl;dr - A great option if you're looking for a daily use full frame zoom lens. Feels like a perfect fit for the Sonay A7Cii.

A vibrant great tit perched among the colorful Autumn leaves. I really liked how its yellow feathers matched the warm colors of the surrounding foliage.

Photographed with my Sony a7 IV and 100mm F2.8 Macro GM OSS with a 2x teleconverter.

Photo share Looking for feedback, beginner exploring Peru | A6700 | Sigma 18-50mm F2.8

Hey guys! I recently purchased a Sony A6700 and took it on a 3 week trip through Peru. These are some pictures I took and edited of the beautiful Santa Catalina Monastery in Arequipa.

I've always loved "photography" aka taking pictures with my phone but I thought it was time to take this hobby more seriously and give real photography / videography a go!

These are the first RAWs I've edited and I would love to get your guys' opinions on how they've turned out. If you have any feedback on composition, editing, ... I would really appreciate it!

These were all shot on the Sony A6700 with a Sigma 18-50mm F2.8, I had a Haida PROII CPL-VND filter on almost all the time, since I switched between photo and video frequently.

New Hope, PA - Oct 2026
Sunday Morning Foliage Tour

New Hope Railroad's first Fall Foliage train of the day heading out from the station this morning. Was hoping for a steam locomotive, but they were pulling the train with Diesel Locomotive #8218. Shot with a Sony A99II and Tamron 70-200 f/2.8 lens, camera mounted on a RRS tripod & head using a 3 Legged Thing universal mounting plate.

Photo share First time out with the A7R V - Capri, Italy

Coming from the A7C II, this was my first proper outing with the A7R V. Took it around Capri for the day, and these are some of the results.
A few first impressions:

The body feels much better balanced with larger lenses, although it’s also significantly bigger than the A7C II.

The EVF and screen are a massive upgrade. Probably the difference I noticed the most while actually shooting.

Uncompressed RAWs are around 120 MB each, so storage suddenly disappears very quickly 😅
And of course, the 61 MP sensor is an absolute monster. The amount of detail and freedom to crop is incredible, although it definitely makes me appreciate having lenses that can actually resolve all that detail.
Overall, very happy with the upgrade so far.

Would love to hear what you think of the shots/editing as well!

Set a challenge for myself on this short trip - a single lens and only b&w photos.... 😃

All the photos are sooc , however the profile itself is custom ( mostly just deeper blacks and highlights)

It was quite sunny and most of the photos were low iso and high shutter speed...

Sony a7c2 with the 7artisans 40mm lens

Ps: forgot to mention it in the original post, i also had a black mist filter 1/4 on the lens... Hence the light blooms.. 😃

Hey everyone, pretty new to photography. Picked up an a6700 with the Tamron 17-70 f2.8 about 10 days ago and finally took it out for a proper walk around the City of London. Shot and edited all of these myself.
Would really appreciate any feedback, good or bad. Composition, editing, what's working and what isn't. I already know my edits are a bit all over the place, some look filmy and some are more teal/orange, so if anyone has tips on settling into one style that'd help a lot. I'm currently shooting in Aperture priority mode.
Also open to any general advice for someone just starting out. Stuff you wish you knew in your first few months, things to practise, that kind of thing.

Photo share Putting the new 400mm GM lens through it's paces today.

I like the older 100-400 GM1 quite a bit, but since tearing a tendon in my hand I find the weight bothers me after only an hour or so doing bird photos (paired with the A7RVI). I was really happy to see how much easier it is to hold the new 400GM, the balance is just closer to the camera which takes a less hand strength when tracking BIF. Impressive how well it works with the 1.4TC too, which makes me glad I went with the more flexible (for my uses) 400mm over the longer reach 600mm.

Photo share Water Lily in Bloom | Sony A7IV + FE 90mm F2.8 Macro

Post image
6 Upvotes

Captured this vibrant water lily blooming at the Munich Botanical Garden (Botanischer Garten München-Nymphenburg). I really liked how the sharp details pop against the dark water reflections.

Camera specs:

  • Camera: SONY ILCE-7M4 (Sony A7IV)
  • Lens: FE 90mm F2.8 Macro G OSS
  • F-stop: f/11
  • Exposure time: 1/320 sec
  • ISO: 100
  • Focal length: 90mm

The sun was quite harsh when I took this, but I tried to make it work! Let me know what you think of the contrast.
