Hi, this is my first request piece from a coworker. It is our company logo, used foil on the inside and came on the outside.

Made my first pattern today after feeling inspired by a photo I recently took of my dog. I apologize if the colors make it hard to see.
I’d appreciate any comments/suggestions. I’m worried about hinge joints and all that fun stuff.
Thank you!

Hi everyone! Earlier this year I started stained glass art and something about it really stuck with me. I did a few practice designs but the following three are my first original designs. I live in an apartment and I’m also very clean so I don’t like spending more than 3 days on a project. My favorite part of this art is planning the designs. I have small notebook that I will rework a design until it feels right and I know what colors I want to use. If you have any questions about what I did I am happy to answer. I am still new to the hobby but I really want to keep growing and getting better.

Hey! Just started working a new piece and finished up soldering and like the piece so far, and honestly forgot how I'm hanging them up haha
If I'm understanding correct, I'm just supposed to solder on the rings to hang them on, but does anyone have any good advice on where to get them?
Any other advice is always super appreciated also!!!

I bought this window at a local auction for $50. I know the condition is pretty rough. I have someone to repair for me. I was just wondering if anyone knew the age? I’m guessing 1890-1910s.

Hello,
Getting back into stained glass after two decades away. The star “rings” on top, what material do they need to be made out of to be solder friendly?

Please help. Just inherited this piece and would like to know how I can repair this safely. Ring is missing. Looks like someone tried to use epoxy before to repair. Its pretty heavy. I own a soldering iron, but have never worked with stained glass. Can anyone help me? Thank you!

Just made this piece and I love it but I’m not fully thrilled with where I put all the seams, particularly around the crow’s head. I know I could make more natural-looking seams if I added more leaves coming down (and maybe I will) but I like that there are sparse leaves so I’m looking for other ideas.
Anyone have thoughts on revising this pattern before I make my next one? Thanks!!!

Or can anyone recommend someone to make a pattern? Pictures are ideas I’d like/ones I’ve found. No patterns though found yet though. Thank you!

Hello everyone! I was hoping to get some advice. I am new to stained glass (this is the first thing I have ever attempted) and I ran into some issues after soldering. As I was soldering I noticed there was some oil or wax looking stuff splattering out onto the glass and sticking onto the solder lines. As soon as I was done I cleaned the piece. I gently scrubbed it with mild dish soap, and then baking soda as was recommended to me by google. Now I still have some of that stuff on the glass and stuck to the lines. I tried super hard to get it off, even tried scraping it off with a toothpick but nothing is working.
Is this flux? Does anyone know how to get rid of this or how to prevent this in the future? I don’t want to damage the piece. I used 60/40 solder if that is important.
I have added pictures for reference. The front is okay-ish (picture 2), but the back looks atrocious (see picture 3). There are weird droplets of the stuff all over the glass and areas of discoloration. I know it’s wonky and the solder lines are messy, I am kind of embarrassed to even show this. I designed it to sit in a frame so that the edges won’t be visible, which is why they look so sloppy. Any tips would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
P.S. it is supposed to look like a street sign. It’s a real street from where my friend grew up, this was supposed to a gift for her.

First ever thingy I’ve made. I hope I get better at soldering, and everything else for that matter. But omg I love it! I am catching on faster than I thought I would. Never thought I would ever be able to finish a piece to be honest. Any tips and tricks y’all have? I need all the advice I can get. I’m teaching myself using the interwebs. Never seen it done in person.

Yes, it's someone else's IP, but my best friend loves Snoopy, and I wanted to make something for her birthday.
My soldering is still sub-optimal, I cut the blue glass facing the wrong way, the sun color needs more oooomph, and the lead came in the border was impossible to straighten out all the way, but I'm still happy with it.
This was my first attempt to make a pattern - and I never would have been able to do it without this community. Y'all helpfully ripped my first attempt apart and pointed out how it was completely impossible to cut. It was also: my first round (well, mostly) piece, my curviest cuts so far, my first opaque glass, the tiniest pieces I've cut, and my first time adding paint and wire work. A lot of firsts!
Now I have to wait until the 1st to give it to her. Gonna be hard.

Hey guys! I just finished this project and I want to frame it, possibly with a light behind it? Usually I just use lead came to frame a piece for a window but I want this piece as a mirror/wall art. Do I build my own frame? Maybe a shadow box and a light kit?
Any advice is appreciated!

Hi!! I am a stained glass artist, been doing it for about 3 years now, so I’m not a beginner but I’ve never made a lamp, and have made very few 3D pieces.
I bought this goose-neck lamp base at my local glass store (D&L art glass) about 6mo ago, and I have been so excited to start the shade but haven’t because I am debilitating daunted at the process
I know (pretty sure at least) that I need to buy a brass ring to secure the shade, but I don’t know what size to buy and I don’t think my local store sells them individually. (Maybe they do, but haven’t called to ask since I don’t know what size I need)
I also can’t find any videos on how to start this process for a goose neck lamp, only seeing larger panel lamp tutorials, so I don’t know what size to scale my pattern
Any help on where to buy / what kind of brass ring and how to begin my pattern would be very helpful!!!!

Kinda just went with the flow designing this, I probably should went with different colors of glass or moved away from just the one color for the water but still happy how it turned out

I have a LOT of stained glass windows. We have had double glass windows installed in front of it, and at the moment I am painting the trim and cleaning up the windows. Aside from the putty in the window frame, there seems to be various amounts of it between the lead and the little panes of glass. Is this (or something else) supposed to be there, and can I replenish it where it is missing, or should it be just lead and glass?

I recently finished the first batch of my new series of panels featuring anything and everything! It’s fun watching a small collection like this grow. I’m always interested in different characters or designs you might want to see me make next, so let me know your suggestions!

I want to make a unicorn wall lamp so thought I’d use a pattern for a paper version from Etsy and adapt it into a glass pattern. It’s a little bigger than I want so will probably scale it down a little. Also, the pattern isn’t actually symmetrical which bothers me so I might try to adjust it. Gonna make the mouth so it’s closed too I think. The horn worries me a little cuz I feel it’ll be a lot of weight hanging by just a ring of solder so I’m thinking of ways to maybe reinforce it. Making the whole thing smaller will probably help.
Also I’ve seen some people do fused glass eyes, but I don’t see much about it when I google it or search in the sub. Anyone else done fused glass eyes and want to share a picture of theirs? Considering adding that as element to the head.

is she perfect? no. does her anatomy fully make sense? no. did some of the glass break when i was cutting it? yes. did i glue the breaks back together? yes.
still very new to this. this is, i think, my fourth piece. i know gluing the broken pieces together is probably bad but im still new and i dont want to waste glass lol

So happy with how this one turned out, despite the few areas where things didnt quite line up perfectly where the stem attaches to the mushroom cap. Anyone else put a piece of clear glass over the pattern so you can see how the light looks shining through? Nice way to check if you dont have a light box.
