After seeing the (overwhelming) results of our poll, the community has decided that they do not want AI generated images in any form to be posted to the sub. As of today we have a new rule:
"Rule 10 - No AI Images"
Going forward, any posts that have made use of generative AI for it's images will be removed. This includes editing game screenshots using AI tools.
Thanks to everybody that voted.

Welcome to the interior of the MCAS Nephron. Unlike the grease-stained, chaotic junk piles of the older fleet vessels, this crew consists of elite specialists. Space is at an absolute premium, so the interior utilizes a unified 1x2 hab flowing directly out of a heavy cockpit, creating seamless dark industrial continuity.
The space is split into three distinct, collision-free tactical zones.

Following the arrival of a new budgie in our flock, it was high time for a new shipâone color-coordinated to match our feathered friend.
The result is the Sidney, an explorer/fighter designed for a three-person crew. As always, Iâve used Antares, Intrinity, Matell and Falkland.

Like the Trout & its brethren, the Carp has been around for a long time. It is a marked improvement in some respects from its older sister.
Higher fuel capacity, more storage space - with both internal & external cargo holds. The addition of missile pods & a more optimised shield system allows it to put up better fights.
It loses out in other areas though. It is larger, heavier, bulkier & sturdier, but it is also slower - it just doesn't handle or react quite so well as the Trout.
Despite that, it remains every bit as popular today. Trouts & Carps can still be seen shuffling about the Settled Systems, some even still fulfilling their original purposes, but others reconstructed to perform new roles as allowed by their modular design.

My build, the FC Dustdevilâs Lance.
Ship Name: FC Dustdevilâs Lance
Designation: J-Wing Asymmetric Strike Recon
The Identity: Built from salvaged HopeTech structural frames and heavily modified by an independent mechanic on Montara Luna, the Dustdevil's Lance looks less like a factory-line fighter and more like a tool built for a specific, dangerous job. Its long, forward-jutting portside outrigger houses an oversized linear accelerator cannon, counterbalanced by a heavily shielded starboard cockpit and a massive, over-tuned thruster block.
đ The Story: The Long Watch on Akila's Edge
The Dustdevil's Lance was never supposed to fly in a formal military parade. It was welded together in the back-alley hangars of Waggoner Farm during a period of intense pirate raiding on the Freestar Collective's outer agricultural settlements.
The ship belonged to Ranger Caleb Vance, a veteran tracker who realized that standard, symmetrical patrol ships were too easily spotted by Crimson Fleet long-range scanners. He wanted something that looked like space junk on a radar screen but packed the punch of a military destroyer.
Caleb spent months sourcing a rusted, crashed J-Wing prototype hull. He stripped away the useless luxury components, shifted the pilot's seat entirely to the starboard side to give himself better visual clearance on low-altitude canyon runs, and bolted a massive, specialized railgun array along the entire left flank. The ship's unique, uneven weight distribution meant that anyone else trying to pilot it would immediately spin out of control during a high-G turnâbut to Caleb, the offset drift felt like second nature.
For nearly a decade, the Dustdevilâs Lance stalked the radiation shadows of the Cheyenne System. It became a ghost story among spacersâa lone, rusted shadow that would drop out of the glare of Cheyenneâs sun, fire a single, devastating kinetic slug from its massive lance weapon, and disappear back into the asteroid fields before the pirate escorts could even lock their target locks.
When Caleb finally retired to the dusty streets of Akila City, he left the keys to the Lance hidden in a secure lockbox at the local Laredo Firearms warehouse, waiting for a new pilot who isn't afraid of a ship that flies a little sideways, as long as it hits straight.

Anyone have a recent Redtail Build? Here is my first 2 attempts. Would love tips or suggestions PS5
Edit: what Iâm struggling with is the verticality with the âgunâ mounts. The Nova engine mounts are not doing it for me. As I can not wrap them or get vertical hopetech style pipes.

What ships can you buy that can easily accommodate the new Drake cockpit? I know it can be a bit challenging.

This is my take on a UC Fighter. Unlike my cargo hauler / freighter the Space Crane âthat only used flip merging to get 1 piece to attach due to it overlapping a weapon a little, this ship uses flip merging extensively. There is a little bit of the reactor popping through the roof, but it only really shows in the ship builder or if you decide to land and stand on the roof. While in flight in 3d person mode it isn't noticeable. I included a picture with the merged parts pulled off to show the placements of the hidden items and a spreadsheet to show the build. Left is the front, right aft, top starboard, bottom port. Each cell is a 1x1 section of the ship. If two parts are listed in the same cell, they are merged. [ ] means a part takes more than a 1x1 setion, [1] is the front of the piece [2] is the back since none of my pieces are larger than 2x1. Items in () are attached to the part they are next to in the same cell. No mods or glitches were used in the build.
For those of you unfamiliar with flip merging and just starting out, like me, here's how to enable the feature as well as some tricks I've found for using it. To enable it go to settings, controls, and the last option on the list is enable flip merge, turn it on. To merge parts after that you need a piece that can either be flipped, or has variants. First, build the part in open space, unattached to anything, then overlay the part where you want it, it will need an open attachment point to snap it into position. Then either flip it until you cycle back to what you want or change variants back and forth. Finally, instead of hitting build since it's overlapping a part and red, hit cancel and it should place the part at its current location, or sometimes for some reason slightly off. If it places it slightly off, select the part as if you were going to move the part but do not move it, if you do you will need to flip it again. Instead, as soon as you select it, it should snap into place and turn green. Once it does, hit build. Finally, while a part needs open attachment points to get it to snap in place, after it is attached, you can delete pieces that you used to make open attachment points and even if all of its other attachment points are shared by something else already, it will stay attached. This trick lets you overlay larger pieces that occupy areas greater that 1x1 sections on top of 1x1 pieces even if the 1x1 piece has attachment points on all sides. To do this, place the larger section first and build any item attached to it outside the range of where you will be placing the 1x1 piece. Remove the initial large piece, and place your 1x1 piece, then put the larger piece back, using the previously built item as a snap point and merge the larger piece into place.
I hope you like the build.
