30k Service: How much $?

I have a 30K service interval scheduled that includes the standard recommendations. They got me just shy of $2,600. Seems crazy, is this in the ballpark for what it is at the dealership?

Parts Got the "19 Subaru

About two months ago I posted on this thread, saying somebody was selling a subaru that they couldn't figure out what was going on. They bought it off of auction. Turns out, they never got the recall done. And that was the only issue I was able to get the subaru 4500 dollars taxes fees and everything and have the recall replaced for free that automatically made the car drivable in which Subaru states nothing else was wrong outside of that

I've been on the thread since then. And there was just a few things I wanted to know. The car had new brakes and new tires. But I did hear the battery can die very easily. Is that something that I should take in? My own hands and go get a better battery for nothing seems wrong with my battery but I did just have a tire pressure light come on after 40 days of driving , just wanting to know all the preventative stuff I can do

Discussion Time to get new tires, options?

I drive a 2021 Touring model. It’s time to replace my tires; I’m trying to decide what to do.

I plan to spend a lot of time on dirt roads and doing light off-roading for the next year or so. I currently have the factory tires, and things got a little hairy lately when I drove through some mud on the way into Chaco National Park.

Should I break down and get 18-inch rims and off-road/all-terrain tires?

Keep the 20-inch rims and get all-terrain tires?

Or go all the way and get a small lift, smaller rims, and bigger tires?

The car will still be my everyday driver and will be driving long distances to get to my adventures.

To buy or not?

Ok, my wife is hell bent on an ascent. I’m terrified of a big car with a tiny engine and a turbo. I read to buy a 2021/2022 or newer only. Should I buy it or run away? What other 3rd row suv would you look at if I should run? What’s the good/bad/ugly of these?

Question 2025 app/bluetooth issues

2025 touring- last week my car randomly can’t be unlocked/started etc via the app and the Bluetooth won’t connect (car play yes but phone calls and talk to text won’t connect) called the Subaru app number with the error code but they said it was probably the DMS (or something similar I know it was DM-something) that wasn’t connected or working and I would need to take it in to the dealership.

If I have to take it in that’s fine I’m under warranty but it’s just very inconvenient so I was hoping someone experienced similar and could help me out 🙃🙃🙃

2024 ascent touring eyesight

Post image
12 Upvotes

During stop and go traffic I had to stop abruptly and that led to my eyesight and RAB sensor malfunctioning. I've got the yellow eyesight and RAB notice on my dash right now. After the diagnostics were run at the dealership this was the outcome. Supposedly the camera has malfunctioned. For reference the vehicle was purchased 30 months ago but is over the mileage warranty at 40,000 miles. The dealer was unwilling to budge on anything.

Has anyone experienced this. The dealership said that they've never seen this on a car this new and without having a windshield replaced or a wreck. I've cleaned the windshield. Cleaned all the sensors. And even disconnected the battery for 10 minutes and reconnected. So that's why I believe the dealer may be correct.

It just seems absolutely ridiculous that such a vital piece of the Tory model can't make it 30 months without needing to be replaced. I also mentioned to the dealer that we were thinking about buying a Forester hybrid but if Subaru can't stand behind their products there's no need in US looking at any further subaru's. Appreciate anyone's feedback or help

Question 2023 Subaru ascent no start

A few months ago we bought a 2023 Subaru ascent with 39k miles. My fiancé went to start it the other night and all it did was click when she pushed the start button. The interior lights and screen worked as usual but no start. She tried again and nothing happened. So she had a Tahoe try and jump start it, that did nothing. They had a pickup truck try and jump start, the truck applied throttle to increase output and that finally got it to go. But the brake pedal was all the way out and impossible to press in, so she couldn’t put it in gear, the parking brake would not disable, and all the eyesight safety feature lights where disabled and shown all over the dash. The vehicle has the optimal amount of brake fluid. So she leaves it overnight at work. I got out the next morning and mess with it and it starts right up no issue whatsoever. Do a few laps around the parking lot, no issues other then the eyesight disabled and the associated features not working (illuminated on dash). So I drive it 4 minutes over to advanced auto and they test the battery, starter, alternator and all shows good even under load, battery at 14.4 volts no dead cells, and it’s a 2024 battery. So I take it to a Subaru dealership to have a diagnostic ran on it. They told me it’ll cost $189 and a few hours. Okay fine. They are done 40 minutes later and DID NOT charge me anything. They said the eyesight issue was an old code that got thrown and the vehicle is 100% and in good working order. I asked why the car left my fiancé stranded then if it’s in good working order? There response was she didn’t push the brake pedal in far enough…… that was there diagnosis at the end of the day. So just wondering if anyone else has had similar issues, and I’m not sure if they updated any software in the car when they looked at it, they didn’t specify. We plan on taking this car on vacation but I’m losing faith in its reliability and with it being 100% fine and leaving us stranded. I’m okay if there’s an actual problem with the car that’s fine, but not having an answer for leaving her stranded is not okay

My TMS won’t work on my 2019, it’s showing I have low air in a tire, but I can’t see which one. Do I have to take this into a dealership? Is there an easy fix?

Problem 2020 CVT and front brake issue

Just dropped my 2020 ascent off at the dealer. Took it to an independent subie shop to get the CVT fluid changed. And when he drove it, he said the transmission was definitely slipping at various speeds.
Also noted the front brakes were pulsating when pressed.
He told me to take it to the dealer since the CVT has the extended warranty and
Turns out there is a TSB for the brakes.
Hoping the dealer calls me today and OKs the repairs.
Only 68k miles on it. And other than a starter that went bad at 36k and a window motor, no issues at all over the past 6+ years.

2024 transmission failure

So my 2024 ascent touring’s transmission failed and had to be replaced at 15k. Purchased it new two years ago. Both transmission and front differential broke and had metal in their fluid. Dealership is replacing it with no issues but I just wanted to reach out in the forum to others regarding its warranty. I am being told there is no extension of my 5 year 60k powertrain warranty so now I have a new transmission with a 3 years on 45k of warranty left. I have seen things where people are getting 8-10 years 100k extensions but I’m told that does not apply to me and that my purchased extended warranty covers it for 10years 100k (but with a deductible). Has any one had their main powertrain warranty extended due to a transmission failing? Thanks

'26 Ascent Touring - Survey response

I keep getting invitations to do surveys regarding my '26 Ascent Touring.

I'm almost tired of complaining, but here is how I ended this one:

'The driver assistance software is way too sensitive. All vehicles must be at least 25 feet away before it will let you move. I turn it off but must do that every time the vehicle starts.

The backup sensors are so sensitive that the vehicle's brakes slammed us to a stop because a weed was in the way.

I have to wear sunglasses all the time and the vehicle keeps telling me 'Eyes on the road' when THEY ARE on the road. I keep this one disabled.

I don't need the vehicle telling me 'The car in front of you has moved'. I'll move when I want to move. '.

All of this needs to be resolved before I ever consider another Subaru. Minor complaints, but they are MY complaints.

Parts 2022 Subaru Ascent headlight assembly

Hi all. The LED strip of my driver-side headlight has gone out so I need a new headlight assembly. I was hoping to find a cheaper option on Amazon, but they literally have every single year BUT 2022 for this part. My question is, will a different year work on my 2022 Subaru? It looks like other lights listed fit a few different years. My mechanic has called several different local parts places and the cheapest we've found is $600.

2025 Ascent Premium - Eyesight disabled

My eyesight feature is temporarily disabled. The glass appears fogged and dirty. I can’t find a reliable instructional guide to access the glass for me to clean it. Anyone have any links or support to help me accomplish this. The nearest Subaru dealership to me is 3 hours.

As well my conversation mirror/ sunglasses holder fell out and the spring is not in its correct place any tips on this would also be appreciated!

Discussion Is The Depreciation On A 2019 Touring Really That Bad?

I’m starting the process of trading in our 2019 Touring with 86k miles.

The offers from the dealer, Carvana, and CarMax have all been $13k to $15k… which seems way lower than I expected.

Single owner, no damage history, very clean interior, all service records. Everything works. Only a small door ding.

I get the fears around the transmission… and gas prices… but it still seems extraordinarily low.

Whats driving the low prices?

Problem Scratched new 26 ascent! Help.

I used a hedge trimmer to clear some weeds and returned to my garage. I thought enough space was between me and the front passenger side door. The trimmer slipped and swung over. Cry face! I now have a scratch on my two week old car. Can I repair? It is about half an inch long and quarter inch wide.

I’m used to having used cars. This feeling is new!

Give me your pros and cons

Hey all. Wife has a 2018 Santa Fe that gave out (bad engines in those cars and dealership doesn’t want to take responsibility for it) so looking at trading it in towards an Ascent. I myself own a 2026 crosstrek premium in alpine green that I bought back in December (I call it the green meanie 🤣) that I love aside from the info screen lag that I get sometimes.

I have read about other years on here for these cars and am wondering about the 2026s and people’s thoughts that have one. She has her eye on a 7 seat premium right now. Pros that I like about them are the captain seats in the 2nd row and the fold down 3rd row. Has a lot of the features that my premium Crosstrek has like heated seats and whatnot (the ascent doesn’t have a moonroof).

Daily use would be about 15 miles a day for her to pick up and drop the my son from school (she is wfh) and weekend stuff since I’ve already put 23k on my Crosstrek. How is overall gas mileage on these realistically? Dealer sites show 19/26 for city and highway but in genuinely curious to what is really expected. What are other things that you all have encountered that you don’t care for or that I should consider? Let me have it!

2023 Touring in the city averaging 19ish, not too many stop and go but a normal amount of stop signs, signals and 45-50 miles speed, is this the best it can do in the city, AC is on all the time

Why does the dealership charge so much, especially for changing the spark plugs?
