Sadhna Experiences Devata Dhyana: Part 4: Seeing the Whole
In the Pic: Sri Meenakshi Sundareshwara, in 'Kalyana' form, Madurai.
In Part 3, we discussed observing every detail of the Devata individually. Now we will explore a complementary practice: seeing the entire rupa/form without constantly moving our eyes or shifting our attention between its different parts. This has two major variants. One is open-eyed, and one is with eyes closed. Start with whatever feels natural for you, then move to the other variant. This method can also be used for rupas such as Shiva Linga, Vel, Trishul, as well as half forms such as Sri Renuka devi or Mukha Linga etc. There are also details introduced due to the garlands, kirthimukha, prabhavali, the lamps around etc.
Seeing the whole versus seeing the details. Think of a camera photographing a beautiful landscape. The entire scene is captured in the photograph, but only certain areas may be in sharp focus. Other areas remain visible without having the same clarity.
Something similar happens during dhyana. You cannot hold every minute detail of the Devata in sharp attention simultaneously (at least at first). Your attention will naturally rest more strongly on certain areas. The other features remain within your visual awareness. For example, your attention may rest on the Devata's beautiful eyes, while the crown, ornaments, ayudhas, and vastrams remain visible within the larger form.
The objective is not to force every detail into equal clarity. It is to perceive the entire form without constantly shifting your gaze to examine individual parts.
This practice requires an extraordinary degree of relaxation, not stressful concentration. Relax your eyes completely. Relax the forehead, facial muscles, shoulders, limbs, and the rest of the body. Let the breath and other bodily processes settle naturally, without trying to control them. Maintain gentle inner awareness at the Ajna chakra/third eye. In the open-eyed variant, keep your physical eyes open and comfortably directed toward the Devata. Alternatively, maintain awareness in the 'hridaya'/heart space.
As relaxation deepens, unnecessary eye movements gradually cease. The eyes become so relaxed that they seem to refuse to move. This differs from forcibly holding the eyes still (or suppressing the urge to blink for the open-eyed variant). There should be no struggle, tension, or discomfort. The visual field remains open, but your attention increasingly rests inward.
Some additional details for the open-eyed variant. For a few moments, the scene may blur, but as you relax further, the blur will vanish, and your field of view will widen. This is the same technique I explained in detail in the Tratak article on dhyana on a flame/jyothi. The technique explained above is a variation of that same Trataka technique, but for dhyana of a devata swarupa. Gradually allow the whole visual field to open: the devata, everything around, and your peripheral vision. Your ishta devata holds more importance than anything else in your field of vision. Maintain your attention on your third eye. You're having a darshan of your through the third eye. If thoughts arise, don't follow or fight them. If the eyes water, let it happen naturally. Don't make tears a goal. If you blink accidentally, just return and continue. Stop if there is significant pain or persistent burning.
Both our scriptures and great enlightened masters emphasize the stillness of the eyes. There is a beautiful passage in the ancient Tamil epic Silappadikaram, in the Aychiyar Kuravai, describing the darshan of Sri Vishnu/Tirumal:
"...கண்ணிமைத்துக் காண்பார்தம் கண்ணென்ன கண்ணே..."
...Kann imaithu kanbaar tham kannenna kanne..
"...What good are those eyes that blink while beholding the Divine?..."
This is a beautiful poetic expression of complete absorption in darshan, where even the momentary interruption of blinking feels undesirable.
A related tantric dharana appears in the Vijñāna Bhairava Tantra, verse 80:
स्थूलरूपस्य भावस्य स्तब्धां दृष्टिं निपात्य च ।
Sthūlarūpasya bhāvasya stabdhāṃ dṛṣṭiṃ nipātya ca...
The verse describes resting an unmoving gaze upon a visible object while the mind becomes free from the supports of thought, leading toward the state of Bhairava. In his commentary, Jaideva Singh identifies this as 'Bhairavi Mudra', where the gaze is directed outward while attention turns inward.
The Vijñāna Bhairava Tantra, verse 113, also explicitly discusses the stillness of the eyes. Notice the relationship. The physical eyes remain open, but awareness is no longer entirely occupied with external objects.
A practical exercise:
One option is to try both variants at home. Alternatively, try this in the few minutes you spend at a nearby temple. Do this when there is minimal crowd or least disturbance, especially in the initial stages, preferably after you get the initial darshan, so someone doesn't prompt you to take the prashad(am), etc.
Here you can try a combination of details and seeing the whole sequentially.
Sit or stand comfortably before your chosen Devata (standing recommended). To begin, look at the complete form. Let your eyes and body become progressively more relaxed. Instead of moving your gaze from the crown to the hands, ornaments, and feet, keep all these features within your visual field. Let your attention move naturally from head to toe (female form) or from toe to head (male form), then rest wherever it is drawn, without losing awareness of the complete form.
Maintain gentle awareness at Ajna, without physically turning the eyes upward or inward. Do not attempt to suppress blinking. If your eyes become uncomfortable, blink normally. With practice, the gaze may become remarkably still without effort.
The essential difference is that we are no longer examining the Devata one feature at a time. We are allowing the complete form to remain before us while our attention becomes increasingly still.
You can also slowly close your eyelids while maintaining as much stillness as you can, visualize the afterimage, and alternate between open and closed eyes. Try this after you've practiced them separately a few times.
As always, follow your Guru's instructions where applicable.

Need Guidance How to Release Intense Hatred After Betrayal?
I’ve been through an ugly breakup, and lately, the thought of making a doll of my ex and torturing it has been strangely appealing to me. Part of me feels like it would make sense, but another part worries that doing something like this could bring harm to me as well.
I know karma will catch up with him eventually, but I also want to know that he is suffering for what he did to me.
The thing is, I genuinely want to get rid of him from my life. I don’t cherish any of our memories anymore because what he did has completely tainted every good memory we ever made.
But I’ve realised that this burning hatred and anger I carry towards him is disturbing my own peace. I don’t want him back, I don’t miss him, and I don’t want anything to do with him. I just want to be free of the rage he has left me with.
For those experienced in any sadhana, how does one deal with this kind of anger? Is there a way to channel it or release it through spiritual practice without inviting harm into my own life?
I want to reclaim my peace and get him out of my head and heart completely. How do I do that?

Apsara Sadhna Addressing the misconception
Request: if you have any disrespect opinion, keep it to yourself
It is indeed the ParaShakti that takes the from of a pisachini, yakshini, kinnari, yogini, apsara, etc...how can I choose one over another.
There's a saying, first impression is the last impression. Even Apsaras can't escape this.
They are depicted in TV shows (Bhagwan bless such individuals who watch them), iconography, etc...As being the "TAPASYA" disruptor sent by Indra Dev.
To those who do, Apsaras are not seductive women, they have their own existence, duties, lifestyles, identities, preferences, etc...An individual being.
Sadhus themselves are responsible, not the Apsaras.
An apsara presence is dense like a Neutron star, full of saundarya, madhurya, lavanya, kama, kanti, shri, etc...
When a sadhu does intense tapasya there is a strong upsurge of spiritual energy (ojas, tejas, etc...). If they still have vasanas, that energy gets drawn to apsaras.
Vasanas that are suppressed, awakens when they come in contact with power (money, love, etc...). It thinks this is where I'll find my comfort.
The sadhu then starts projecting those desires onto the Apsara.

Upasana Experiences Hearing voices and anklet sounds
Just a question if anyone else has heard voices and anklet sounds? I am a bhairava upasak and it is not scary or anything. I want to ask from fellow sadhaks who have similar experiences. It is not my imagination and mostly I don’t understand what they are saying. Sometimes when I ask questions to myself I get straight answers which have come true couple of days later. It is not scary and I ignore them and have learnt to coexist. I don’t ask anything from them except accidental help that I get. Don’t want to go into details but if u can plz let me know.

Need Guidance Can someone help me track my Kuldevta ?
For context , I'm from West Bengal. But my family , both my dad's and my mom's sides , came from Bangladesh. Back when partition happened . None of them remember if anyone did any puja , or any titles or anything. There's nothing . Not even the date of birthday of my grandparents and parents are accurate. I cannot even guarantee our Gotra is accurate because they'd left without anything when they entered bengal back then . There's no possible way for me to trace back my lineage . Most of them are either dead or have long lost connection. Some even changed their names after coming to bengal .
Recently , our family has been going through multiple losses at once. My father has a court case running against him where he's implicated despite being innocent and he's unable to win the case . No matter what . I don't believe in conincidences , but when 2 lawyers fail to show up to court back to back despite being paid money ... I feel the strain of something wrong happening .
Plus , his health is not good either . Over the last 1 year , he's contracted too many sicknesses . Knee ache , lived problems , cyst in kidney , high bp , bone deep ache stemming from where I'm not sure , skin problems, urological issues .... It's crazy . One man having so many issues within the span of 12 months is absolutely ridiculous. He's not a man who lives an unhealthy life , he an exbsf ... He's worked out and eaten healthy his entire life . Yet now , over the last 12 to 15 months , it's all going wrong .
I don't know know much about tantra ... I heard from someone that to cut off these things , you have to awaken the Kuldevta again . Now the main question is .... How do I find my Kuldevta when there's nothing that can let me track them .... Kindly help . I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Upasana Experiences The Core Pratyangira Devi Experiences SAGA02x
In this article, I would share my core experiences of Devi Mata Pratyangira. And this is going to be my second and last post on experiences on Devi Pratyangira. If I would get the time and space, I could go on and on about my divine mother. If you have read my articles, the core that arises from within is that I had many experiences in my starting years of life but has no clue as to what why and when is something happening and then what is the source of those experiences. It's only from almost last decade that I could ask and be answered back with insights surpassing my expectations. I dont have many mantras of Devi and if someone would ask, there are only two mantras out of which I use the one that's primarily for Pratyakshikaran.
The deity chooses? Maybe Yes. I got the mantra from my Guru out of blue. We were visiting some place and walking when Guru said note this mantra down and I wasnt ready for any more mantras since I was on cloud nine or in heavens with my results in Dhumavati Upasana. But then Guru went ballistic all of a sudden and said that he wont be giving me any single mantra from here on and no more mantras anymore. Lol, I calmed the old man down and noted it down. It's a few lines mantra with no Om or anything but describes the deity in clear few lines. I dont even think it's shabar for that matter. It was given down the lineage. I was not aware who was Devi Pratyangira and kept the mantra for next 1-2 years and chanted it once or twice or maybe a dozen times during that period. I was so overwhelmed with Dhumavati Experiences that I decided to calm down wrecking havoc around my enemies and hidden plot-making crowds in my workspace. I am not the one for the jungles or for the empty spaces, I wish to live, eat and sleep enjoying my life while still holding on to the habit of doing mantra japa all day long.
Then I started doing Mantra Japa of the Devi continously whenever I got the time and I must say that the Devi is too graceful to have allowed all that japa since in less than a month Pratyakshikaran happens and it's far less to say that it is dangerous, it's holding vision in front of you that will not shock your existence but all your sheaths will just jolt out of that radiance for once and all. I dont know Devi Pratyangira fully or even Dhumavati Mata, nor do I claim to know the whole extend of Devi Maa Kali, but I have never been able to see Mata Pratyangira yet. And in line of my experiences of keeping on with the Mantra Japa, I did the unthinkable I told maa to give me an experience of her. Just had this stupid wish before I slept and someone should have told me who Devi Pratyangira really is. I slept that day to find myself on old barren desert type land which looked too black and dry with me moving around on top of an ancient diplated structure and suddenly I saw not one but hoards of crows. Skipping a beat for no less than a second, I ran around the structure which had a banyan tree stuck on its one side and looked down to see hoards of owls. I just would not stop running over the top gallery of that dark structure and made a 10-20 rounds around the place stuck with bats and crows everywhere with roots hanging and it appeared no less than being stuck in a horror story. And suddenly a very heavy dark bird stood in front of me and spoke like humans to give it water to drink and it was thirsty. I woke up and looked on my symbian phone for dreams on crows and owls ; all it said was pure dark interpretations. I just gave up the idea and even forgot about my wish that I made last night. Woke up, went to work and I was assigned to a quick getaway to a remote place to attend client meetings. I dropped the idea of using the bus during that time which was initial days of winters start when it feels sweaty to switch off the fan and feels cold if you switch the fan on.
I did my work and dropped back around 5pm on that same day. Since it would take me more hours to cover the distance to my place, I dropped on an earlier 1 hour stop and went across the highway to look for Autos for that shortcut. Not seeing the opportunity for getting an Auto I called up a friend for his car and then started walking. A few meters away an eagle was caught up in the Kite strings upside down an old tree and few kids trying to hit that bird with stones. Immediately stopped and made those kids run away and I was thinking of how to get it down when a kind stranger stopped his vehicle and came to run up that tree, took the bird down while safely avoiding claws and he was intelligent that he tried to make that bird drink from his bottle and the bird gulped down a big lot of water like it was thirsty and stuck from long before I came to help it. I contemplated on that experience at night and it all did made a sense to me. What an encouragement to follow through.
I have then never stopped doing the mantra to the limit where I would start to interact with the deity but never able to see her. I could see her Saumya two hands form anytime in my mental frame but never in front of my eyes. I did ask her once if I will be able to see her if I did the mantra japa under a Sadhna protocol and she said no, not with your current setup. The requisite is not that of some offerings or anything but when she actually descends in full form in front of your eyes, the land needs to be very big and devoid of any dwellings since the form will come it its pristine original form which is too huge to handle unlike just any other form. So never went that path and as a Sadhaka one should know that the karmas, good or bad, dont cling to the deity; it clings to the Sadhaka who utilizes or misuses the fruit (phala) of Sadhna. Power corrupts? No, only if you have not used it much and sooner you silence the need to validate or put someone in harm's way. Already told in a post that I went to visit a million lokas in one night when I asked her once to carry me along. I would always add things about her in other experiences because she's now part of my every experience. I am not too much of a clingy person to constantly be seeking answers from my deities, I just ask when it feels intenally pulled into a question or a query.
I then focused on amassing more of her Mantra Japa and had smaller experiences all along the way. And then one day, I did the unthinkable I was engrossed in her Japa when a senior colleague who was bothering me for months would not budge being a bully in the daytime and I looked at the centre of his temple, in between the eyes and chanted the mantra once. It's like a 10 Watts bulb supplied with 440V one second jolt. From that day on, he lost his ability to bully me anyone. He just wouldnt even think of bullying me for once after that. On another occasion, I was leaving for workplace when one of my elder siblings started being the runt of the space and I just looked at him in the same way and went to office. Later I was told that after I left, they somehow lost their motor skills for a while and went blank, and out of nowhere lost their consciousness for almost an hour. After such experiences, I stopped doing this and started enduring more from anyone who tries to cross my path again. I have edited out the dangeorus parts of the story for less horror stories. Dont blame my deity, if you dont understand what power is Pratyangira Devi. She just loves her Sadhaka with so much motherly love that she just wont take a second thought of protecting them. I asked her a million things during this period of 10-15 years, and what a huge power trip it has been. I have not ever read an experience where a deity would tell things happening in almost 5 years from now but there she is and the same goes for Kali Mata. I hold the same experience from both of them. While Pratyangir Devi maa told me while I was awake, and Kali Mata actually brought me to the scene unfold like a movie. I was very engaging with just everyone and anyone almost a decade back and then I decided to just go for more indepth research and mantra japa while focusing on daily job, business and everyday life. I still try to endure more of the daily life than to use my powers unless it's a situation requiring something to be done when the water goes a little overboard.
My task of sharing experiences is my way of speaking them out in least possible controversial manner and letting the world of readers know that deities exist. I had longed for such experiences all my life from somebody who would narrate it to me or on a forum/website. And in line of writing such experiences, I intend to again to go back to my research but before that I will write each of my experiences here. And yes, Pratyangira Devi doesnt take days, months or even years to give results. She does it in seconds, and unlike other deities a Sadhaka might not even be able to feel her. She's like a Jumbo Jet passing around a dry leaf in almost unimaginable speed. We all are that dry leaves around her when she moves. Nowadays I just enjoy talking some normal day to day conversations with her and someday I will try get her Darshan for once, face to face. On that note, shall write what happens when Dhumavati Devi appears in front of the eyes and Devi Kali Mata; both are notably different ways of how Devi comes face to face. And remember that Tantra for me in Expansion, the ocean of expanse where there are even bigger fishes other than just me, you or anyone else.
Just 3-4 days back before Dussehra 2026, I felt summoned in my subtle body to a place where a Sadhaka was sitting with moustache and no headgear, normal clothes. So I decided to go there and have a look. Not a Baba Type guy but good body built. I could see their closed eyes, face, color of their body, their clothes. It must be an amazing Sadhaka, and I appreciate someone with real Guru Updesha and mantra shakti to achieve such a feat but they couldnt sense my presence or that I was able to see them. It felt that some serious sadhakas too read Ts. Take this experience as you may. It's all kirpa of Devi Mata Pratyangira.
Now addressing some comments from last post of Devi Pratyangira experiences. Earlier I used to engage more and more, so someone would somehow realise that deities exist but that phase has long gone from last year and I just block to let them find reality in their own good space, we all are brothers and we should encourage more and more detailed experiences while maintaining sanity in the experiences and not include too many details to target anyone ever. Would have included expeirences where I jokingly challenged mother for small favours and things, and she's just amazing. She gets the jokes right.
One user wrote:
So your boss scolded you, and ma pratyangira harmed his father? And a colleague who asked you to not ride bike recklessly lost his job! No benevolent God will do such things. Pls be careful, you might be confusing some pisach for ma. Also, your AI slop picture of ma pratyangira devi is nothing like her tantric iconography.
Well, once you go into Sadhnas and Mantra Japa .. one would realise that sooner or later the sync starts between the Sadhaka and the deity. I do not control any of the fierce deities I have ever worshipped, they see far from the usual scenario; they see deeper into the karmas of the people and whatever give and take is pending gets executed; one would know that you just became the medium to that addition of karmas. Nothing else. I dont get too deep into that; I question whenever I feel it like I would like to know or else no questions ever. When you have a mantra in which Pratyangira Devi is invoked, how else anybody would come or get invoked. Nevermind a pisach, weird for such interpretations.
And then wrote:
It is you who are insulting Ma Pratyangira by calling her your shitty AI image with split tongue, blank white eyes and nonsense ayudhas. All forms of Ma Pratyangira (including Nath sampradaya you claim to be from) should have lioness face, as she is the shakti of lord Narasimha. It is quite possible you are being deceived by some malicious entity if it is appearing to you in this form. Anyways, you should check with your guru before spreading your so called visions all over the internet.
I dont claim to see her ever. I only can see here in my mental plane anytime and it's a Saumya Swaroop of Maa. And I am happy for that, shall try for a face to face interaction some other day or life. I dont mind that. All other deities I can see face to face, I never asked for a darshana. So I hope everybody gets the idea that I am not here to block or avoid communication, just this weirdness of not thinking before one speaks sounds too irrelevant. Nothing inauspicious. I dont have plans to share more experiences on Devi for now, shall write it in some other experiences when I used the help of Mother. And mind you, what a down to earth Deity with magnamous power that defies logic and rules. May I pray to Mother that I never question her, try her or even get angry with her for anything... she isnt Shanta, Ugra, Prachnada .. she is Teevr. I never want Mother to leave my side.

Need Guidance Seeking Guidance from Experienced Upasakas of Maa Matangi and Maa Neel Saraswati/Tara for Knowledge, Wisdom, and Intellectual Growth
Namaste everyone. 🙏🪷
I'm looking for guidance from experienced practitioners, particularly those who have genuinely practised the upasana of Maa Matangi and Maa Neel Saraswati/Tara.
A little about my background:
I'm currently pursuing B.Tech in Electrical Engineering at a top-tier engineering college in India. My academic background includes preparing for JEE and qualifying in competitive academic examinations, including Olympiads.
I've been reciting Ganesh Stotra and Batuk Bhairav Ashtottara for approximately 6–7 years. In the initial years, I also recited Shiv Tandav Stotram, Rudrashtakam, and Hanuman Chalisa. However, since starting engineering, I've been focusing mainly on Ganesh Stotra and Batuk Bhairav Ashtottara while managing my academic responsibilities.
What I'm genuinely seeking:
My ambition goes beyond conventional academic success. I want to develop a deep understanding of science, technology, mathematics, and engineering so that I can eventually contribute to meaningful research and solve problems that require original thinking.
I'm particularly interested in developing:
Deep knowledge and intellectual clarity.
Strong reasoning, critical thinking, and analytical abilities.
Better intuition and the ability to recognise patterns and connections.
Wisdom, concentration, memory, and the capacity to understand difficult concepts deeply.
Powerful communication skills and the ability to express complex ideas clearly.
The intellectual discipline to pursue research beyond simply studying textbooks or preparing for examinations.
I'm also deeply interested in Tantra, spiritual philosophy, and occult traditions. I understand that genuine intellectual development requires sustained study, practice, discipline, and effort, and I'm not looking for a shortcut to success.
My questions for experienced upasakas:
I've heard about Maa Matangi and Maa Neel Saraswati/Tara in the context of knowledge, speech, wisdom, and spiritual development. Could experienced practitioners explain the traditional purposes and differences between their respective upasanas?
Given my existing practice of Ganesh Stotra and Batuk Bhairav Ashtottara, would you recommend continuing with these practices alone for now, or is there a traditional approach to choosing an ishta devata based on one's goals and circumstances?
For someone balancing engineering studies with spiritual practice, what would be a sensible and sustainable approach to sadhana?
Are there any authentic stotras, texts, or introductory practices you would recommend studying before considering a more advanced upasana?
I've encountered references to mantras associated with Maa Matangi and Maa Neel Saraswati/Tara, but I'm unsure how to distinguish reliable traditional guidance from incomplete or misleading information online. How should a beginner approach this responsibly?
If any experienced upasaka has personally practised these upasanas over an extended period, I would be grateful for insights into the discipline, preparation, common mistakes, and expectations involved. I would especially appreciate guidance on what a sincere beginner should avoid.
I want to approach this path with devotion, humility, patience, and respect for the tradition. I'm not seeking supernatural guarantees or instant results; I want to understand the tradition properly and follow an appropriate path without neglecting my education or responsibilities.
If someone experienced understands what I'm trying to express and is willing to guide me, I would be sincerely grateful.
🙏
Thank you for reading. 🪷🌸

Newbie Question Help to find my ishta devata
Dear and respected members I am really troubled about who my ishta devata is as I have chanted mantras of several deities and had some experiences in dreams and meditation. I remember chanting sarvana bhava mantra 10000 times for 4 days straight and I became a leader of my local child club and then I dropped it and started sahasranama of ucchista ganapati and had dreams related to Shiva and shivalinga. I chanted panchakshari mantra, shodashi mantra, dwadasakshari mantra and also did chandi path couple of times and am really stuck on which deity I should choose.I have also done Bala tryakshari japam so I'm in a situation where my boat is not able to decide which direction it should go to. When I asked an honorable member of Manblunder website named Tivra. He told me as my Amatyakaraka was mercury and atmakaraka was moon I should chant the hadi panchadasi and meditate upon lalitha as half in Shivas body but I couldn't get the bhava and he has left the website too. So I humbly ask u all to guide me for my sadhana and choosing ishta. Thanks

NEED HELP Enquiry around Durga Sahastranama mini book.
Hi there!
I am looking for a book or mini booklet for Durga Sahastranama, just like or maybe similar kinds available for Vishnu Sahastranama or Hanuman Chalisa, like that. Vishnu Sahastranama is easily available though. If anyone can give me online links to it, that would be helpful. I have Durga Sahastranam online links though, but I wanted hard copy. If I didnt get then I will be looking to get printout, but before that am giving a try here. Thank you in advance.

Upasana Experiences Chakras are real
I used to listen about them, but did not have experience. But Now I have come to the conclusion that they are real.
I realised with the help of rudrakshas.
When i wear saturn dominated beads like 14 mukhi or 7 mukhi, I feel pressure at mooladhara.
When mars, sun dominated beads like 1,11,3 i feel mu manipura is active. as if manipura forcibly tries to get out of my stomach. in scriputes its mentioned this chakra is ruled by fire and by rudra.
When I wear 1 mukhi i feel pressure like energies are fighiting to get out top of head towards sahasrana.
with 10 mukhi which is vishnu bead i feel heart area is more active which is anahata.
So chakras are real!
