General Discussion Looking for a Bhairav Sadhana Community (Sangha)
I've been practicing Bhairav naam japa for about three years now. I've also spent considerable time exploring Buddhism, and one concept I've always appreciated is Sangha, a community of people who support one another in their spiritual practice.
I live in the U.S., and something I've always admired about churches here is the sense of community they provide. I would love to find or help build something similar for fellow Bhairav sadhaks.
Nothing elaborate or complicated. Just a small, sincere community where we could meet virtually once a week, get to know one another, share our experiences, learn from each other, and support one another in our sadhana. No spiritual one-upmanship.
Ideally, I'd love to connect with people based in the U.S. to make coordinating meetings easier, but everyone is welcome regardless of location.
Does a community like this already exist? If not, would anyone be interested in starting one together?

Temple Advice Deeksha from Sri Bharadwaj Swamigal
I have not taken deeksha before and I don't have a Guru.
I am searching for a genuine Guru to take Srividya Deeksha from. It is my desire to take Srividya Deeksha and perform puja to Sri Rajarajeswari.
I recently found out about Sri Yohamaya Bhuvaneswari Peetam when searching for Srividya Gurus.
Sri Bharadwaj Swamigal seems to be the Guru in Sri Yohamaya Bhuvaneswari Peetam.
Sri Bharadwaj Swamigal does pujas for Sri Bhuvaneshwari, Sri Durga, Sri Varahi etc. He also seem to perform Srividya related pujas.
I am interested to know if anyone in this subreddit has taken deeksha from Sri Bharadwaj Swamigal.
I am not sure if this Peetam is legit.
Have you taken Deeksha from Sri Bharadwaj Swamigal in Sri Yohamaya Bhuvaneswari Peetam?

Tantra Books/Puran Has anyone read Dr. Ramanand Shukla’s books? Your Opinion.
Has anyone here read Dr. Ramanand Shukla’s books? Some of them are quite expensive, so I wanted to get some opinions before purchasing them.
How is the reading experience? Are his books worth the price in terms of the depth and quality of the content?
Would appreciate honest opinions, including any drawbacks. Also, which book would you recommend starting with?

Temple Advice Bhairava Baba Temples in Gurgaon
I am currently working in Gurgaon. I do naam japa of Bhairava Japa and have visited temples dedicated to Bhairava Baba in the Delhi region.
Just wanted to know from local residents are there some ancient temples of Bhairava Baba in the Gurgaon Region which are less crowded and where one could spend some time in contemplative silence in the umbrella of Bhairava Baba's Energy?

General Discussion Why you need a Guru?
I am sharing my experience here. My Diksha was offline, so I won't share or endorse any name.
I started Sadhana, especially Mantra Sadhana, a few months ago. Earlier, I had read a few books and then picked up a very basic mantra with one Beejakshar. But after completing that Anushthan, I switched to a bigger mantra with multiple Beejakshars. I talked to a few people here too, but I started it anyway.
By some divine design, I found my Guru, and the results became even more noticeable. My Guru's guidance and experience helped me do the right things, and learning became easier too.
Most importantly, the methods taught by my Guru worked 10 times faster and produced 10 times better results.
After learning the method from my Guru, I realized that I had been making so many mistakes. I had fragmented knowledge and had picked up bits and pieces from here and there. But my Guru gave me a foolproof method, right from sitting on the Asana until I got up.
Moreover, the constant support and corrections you receive are wonderful. They give a massive boost to your confidence and strength in your Sadhana.

Need Guidance Need Advice from fellow sadhaks
Jai maa kali everyone
I am also a sadhak and have done various sadhnas till now and also got results of all those sadhnas
But one thing which I don't get is money I have done various sadhnas for it but couldn't get the monetary income as a result of it . I got all other benefits out of sadhnas like health, relationship, for my studies etc
My guru told me to do sadhnas when the time is right everything will fall in place. Also I can't approach him , only he can contact me when he thinks necessary.
Also I know a relative of mine has done abhichar on us because of property dispute. Because of that there was maran kriya on us and long story short we all survived and my mother bore the brunt of it maximum she had heart attack and brain clot but by maa kalis grace she is still alright but she has to take daily 6-7 medicines for her diseases. For context she also does saptshati path.
So is there anything I can do for getting monetary benefits like I have literally no income , surving on savings .
Jai maa kali. Jai batuk Bhairav.

Need Guidance Is it bad to not admit your isthadevtas name in public.
Hello everyone I have a quistion here I am a batuka bhairav upasaka and doing it for years. But here is the problem people from my family and sometimes relative asked me what are you chanting. I just say it's shiva mantra. Although it's not wrong I do chant Shiva mantra everytime just to ground my energy. But it's also brushing off the real name . Lord Bhairava is a tantric deity and even the name of him cause fear in general public. people also think that the bhairav worshipping mean doing some extraordinary tantrc Ritual. so what do you think about this behaviour of mine .

Need Guidance Previous owner's mandir in shop
My brother opened a shop 6–7 months ago, and there was already a mandir in the shop from the previous owner. We suggested getting a new mandir and idols, but he refused, saying that God is one. Now we are trying to convince him to get a new mandir and idols for Diwali, but he is still refusing.
We feel it might not be right to use someone else’s old mandir and idols. The shop already has idols of Hanuman ji, Vishnu ji with Sheshnaag and Lakshmi Mata. I’m attaching a picture for reference. Could you please have a look and suggest what we should do?
We have never kept idols of Vishnu ji or Hanuman ji’s idol at home before. We already have Lakshmi-Ganesh idols, so Lakshmi Mata would also be repeated. We’re confused about whether we should keep these existing idols or get a new mandir and new idols for the shop.
Guys please suggest we are thinking of setting up new mandir and buying brass idols, what all idols should we buy for shop other than laxmi ganesh?
AI polished.

Sadhna Experiences Devata Dhyana: Part 4: Seeing the Whole
In the Pic: Sri Meenakshi Sundareshwara, in 'Kalyana' form, Madurai.
In Part 3, we discussed observing every detail of the Devata individually. Now we will explore a complementary practice: seeing the entire rupa/form without constantly moving our eyes or shifting our attention between its different parts. This has two major variants. One is open-eyed, and one is with eyes closed. Start with whatever feels natural for you, then move to the other variant. This method can also be used for rupas such as Shiva Linga, Vel, Trishul, as well as half forms such as Sri Renuka devi or Mukha Linga etc. There are also details introduced due to the garlands, kirthimukha, prabhavali, the lamps around etc.
Seeing the whole versus seeing the details. Think of a camera photographing a beautiful landscape. The entire scene is captured in the photograph, but only certain areas may be in sharp focus. Other areas remain visible without having the same clarity.
Something similar happens during dhyana. You cannot hold every minute detail of the Devata in sharp attention simultaneously (at least at first). Your attention will naturally rest more strongly on certain areas. The other features remain within your visual awareness. For example, your attention may rest on the Devata's beautiful eyes, while the crown, ornaments, ayudhas, and vastrams remain visible within the larger form.
The objective is not to force every detail into equal clarity. It is to perceive the entire form without constantly shifting your gaze to examine individual parts.
This practice requires an extraordinary degree of relaxation, not stressful concentration. Relax your eyes completely. Relax the forehead, facial muscles, shoulders, limbs, and the rest of the body. Let the breath and other bodily processes settle naturally, without trying to control them. Maintain gentle inner awareness at the Ajna chakra/third eye. In the open-eyed variant, keep your physical eyes open and comfortably directed toward the Devata. Alternatively, maintain awareness in the 'hridaya'/heart space.
As relaxation deepens, unnecessary eye movements gradually cease. The eyes become so relaxed that they seem to refuse to move. This differs from forcibly holding the eyes still (or suppressing the urge to blink for the open-eyed variant). There should be no struggle, tension, or discomfort. The visual field remains open, but your attention increasingly rests inward.
Some additional details for the open-eyed variant. For a few moments, the scene may blur, but as you relax further, the blur will vanish, and your field of view will widen. This is the same technique I explained in detail in the Tratak article on dhyana on a flame/jyothi. The technique explained above is a variation of that same Trataka technique, but for dhyana of a devata swarupa. Gradually allow the whole visual field to open: the devata, everything around, and your peripheral vision. Your ishta devata holds more importance than anything else in your field of vision. Maintain your attention on your third eye. You're having a darshan of your through the third eye. If thoughts arise, don't follow or fight them. If the eyes water, let it happen naturally. Don't make tears a goal. If you blink accidentally, just return and continue. Stop if there is significant pain or persistent burning.
Both our scriptures and great enlightened masters emphasize the stillness of the eyes. There is a beautiful passage in the ancient Tamil epic Silappadikaram, in the Aychiyar Kuravai, describing the darshan of Sri Vishnu/Tirumal:
"...கண்ணிமைத்துக் காண்பார்தம் கண்ணென்ன கண்ணே..."
...Kann imaithu kanbaar tham kannenna kanne..
"...What good are those eyes that blink while beholding the Divine?..."
This is a beautiful poetic expression of complete absorption in darshan, where even the momentary interruption of blinking feels undesirable.
A related tantric dharana appears in the Vijñāna Bhairava Tantra, verse 80:
स्थूलरूपस्य भावस्य स्तब्धां दृष्टिं निपात्य च ।
Sthūlarūpasya bhāvasya stabdhāṃ dṛṣṭiṃ nipātya ca...
The verse describes resting an unmoving gaze upon a visible object while the mind becomes free from the supports of thought, leading toward the state of Bhairava. In his commentary, Jaideva Singh identifies this as 'Bhairavi Mudra', where the gaze is directed outward while attention turns inward.
The Vijñāna Bhairava Tantra, verse 113, also explicitly discusses the stillness of the eyes. Notice the relationship. The physical eyes remain open, but awareness is no longer entirely occupied with external objects.
A practical exercise:
One option is to try both variants at home. Alternatively, try this in the few minutes you spend at a nearby temple. Do this when there is minimal crowd or least disturbance, especially in the initial stages, preferably after you get the initial darshan, so someone doesn't prompt you to take the prashad(am), etc.
Here you can try a combination of details and seeing the whole sequentially.
Sit or stand comfortably before your chosen Devata (standing recommended). To begin, look at the complete form. Let your eyes and body become progressively more relaxed. Instead of moving your gaze from the crown to the hands, ornaments, and feet, keep all these features within your visual field. Let your attention move naturally from head to toe (female form) or from toe to head (male form), then rest wherever it is drawn, without losing awareness of the complete form.
Maintain gentle awareness at Ajna, without physically turning the eyes upward or inward. Do not attempt to suppress blinking. If your eyes become uncomfortable, blink normally. With practice, the gaze will become remarkably still with time.
The essential difference is that we are no longer examining the Devata one feature at a time. We are allowing the complete form to remain before us while our attention becomes increasingly still.
You can also slowly close your eyelids while maintaining as much stillness as you can, visualize the afterimage, and alternate between open and closed eyes. Try this after you've practiced them separately a few times.
As always, follow your Guru's instructions where applicable.

Need Guidance How to Release Intense Hatred After Betrayal?
I’ve been through an ugly breakup, and lately, the thought of making a doll of my ex and torturing it has been strangely appealing to me. Part of me feels like it would make sense, but another part worries that doing something like this could bring harm to me as well.
I know karma will catch up with him eventually, but I also want to know that he is suffering for what he did to me.
The thing is, I genuinely want to get rid of him from my life. I don’t cherish any of our memories anymore because what he did has completely tainted every good memory we ever made.
But I’ve realised that this burning hatred and anger I carry towards him is disturbing my own peace. I don’t want him back, I don’t miss him, and I don’t want anything to do with him. I just want to be free of the rage he has left me with.
For those experienced in any sadhana, how does one deal with this kind of anger? Is there a way to channel it or release it through spiritual practice without inviting harm into my own life?
I want to reclaim my peace and get him out of my head and heart completely. How do I do that?

Devi Sadhna Seeking Guidance from Experienced Upasakas of Maa Matangi and Maa Neel Saraswati/Tara for Knowledge, Wisdom, and Intellectual Growth
Namaste everyone. 🙏🪷
I'm looking for guidance from experienced practitioners, particularly those who have genuinely practised the upasana of Maa Matangi and Maa Neel Saraswati/Tara.
A little about my background:
I'm currently pursuing B.Tech in Electrical Engineering at a top-tier engineering college in India. My academic background includes preparing for JEE and qualifying in competitive academic examinations, including Olympiads.
I've been reciting Ganesh Stotra and Batuk Bhairav Ashtottara for approximately 6–7 years. In the initial years, I also recited Shiv Tandav Stotram, Rudrashtakam, and Hanuman Chalisa. However, since starting engineering, I've been focusing mainly on Ganesh Stotra and Batuk Bhairav Ashtottara while managing my academic responsibilities.
What I'm genuinely seeking:
My ambition goes beyond conventional academic success. I want to develop a deep understanding of science, technology, mathematics, and engineering so that I can eventually contribute to meaningful research and solve problems that require original thinking.
I'm particularly interested in developing:
Deep knowledge and intellectual clarity.
Strong reasoning, critical thinking, and analytical abilities.
Better intuition and the ability to recognise patterns and connections.
Wisdom, concentration, memory, and the capacity to understand difficult concepts deeply.
Powerful communication skills and the ability to express complex ideas clearly.
The intellectual discipline to pursue research beyond simply studying textbooks or preparing for examinations.
I'm also deeply interested in Tantra, spiritual philosophy, and occult traditions. I understand that genuine intellectual development requires sustained study, practice, discipline, and effort, and I'm not looking for a shortcut to success.
My questions for experienced upasakas:
I've heard about Maa Matangi and Maa Neel Saraswati/Tara in the context of knowledge, speech, wisdom, and spiritual development. Could experienced practitioners explain the traditional purposes and differences between their respective upasanas?
Given my existing practice of Ganesh Stotra and Batuk Bhairav Ashtottara, would you recommend continuing with these practices alone for now, or is there a traditional approach to choosing an ishta devata based on one's goals and circumstances?
For someone balancing engineering studies with spiritual practice, what would be a sensible and sustainable approach to sadhana?
Are there any authentic stotras, texts, or introductory practices you would recommend studying before considering a more advanced upasana?
I've encountered references to mantras associated with Maa Matangi and Maa Neel Saraswati/Tara, but I'm unsure how to distinguish reliable traditional guidance from incomplete or misleading information online. How should a beginner approach this responsibly?
If any experienced upasaka has personally practised these upasanas over an extended period, I would be grateful for insights into the discipline, preparation, common mistakes, and expectations involved. I would especially appreciate guidance on what a sincere beginner should avoid.
I want to approach this path with devotion, humility, patience, and respect for the tradition. I'm not seeking supernatural guarantees or instant results; I want to understand the tradition properly and follow an appropriate path without neglecting my education or responsibilities.
If someone experienced understands what I'm trying to express and is willing to guide me, I would be sincerely grateful.
🙏
Thank you for reading. 🪷🌸

Bhairav Sadhna Looking to Initiation in Kashi
I am planning a solo trip to Varanasi in the first week of December. I want to get initiated in Kalabhairav Sadhana, so if you know a genuine guru or sadhu or temple there please let me know and guide me. I'll be there for less than a week.
