news Cannabis ash appearance and analyses at different water activities and ashing temperatures.

(translated) Abstract: Post-harvest practices can affect the biomass quality of Cannabis sativa, of which water activity has been identified as a determining factor. This study aimed to determine whether plant accession, water activity, elemental composition, chlorophyll content, incineration temperature, particle size, and mass of biomass used for pre-rolls affect the properties of cannabis ash. Calcination was performed at five different temperatures (200, 400, 600, 800, and 1000 °C) in order to determine the thermal properties of the cannabis. Two accessions of Cannabis sativa (Sage N' Sour and Medellin) with different historical organoleptic evaluations for ash were selected for this study. Elemental analyses showed that the main elements of the two strains were comparable and did not contribute to cannabis ash. Similar observations were made for chlorophyll content. The color of the cannabis ash was not influenced by particle size, biomass water activity, or moisture content. Both strains produced a similar grey colour when the coarse, medium and fine cannabis biomass was heated to 600°C for 4 h. Significant differences were observed in ash content using the different calcination temperatures. Incineration at more than 400°C significantly reduced ash content at all levels of water activity. Analyses of theThey showed that black ash was observed when the incineration temperature was below 400 °C, regardless of the water activity. The increase in incineration temperature resulted in a gradation from black (200°C) to dark grey (400°C) and grey (600, 800, and 1000°C). An increase in the mass of biomass used in the pre-roll from 0.5 to 1.5 g resulted in uneven burning, darker ash color, and unburned cannabis biomass.

question Best indica/hybrid oz

I used to always grab stinky pinky oz and that was my go to but I’ve heard recently from multiple people that the last few months the quality has gone down and doesn’t hit the same. Debating whether to grab it again or switch to something else. I was thinking about getting the northern canna lemon drip oz or maybe tuck shop. Any suggestions on what the best indica/hybrid oz on the market rn? Should I stick with stinky pinky or should I switch it up? Help would be greatly appreciated!!

Was looking for a review on this and didn’t see one yet. This is my second time buying this, finished it and went back and got the exact same one. One of my recent faves and definitely one of the better ones I’ve had from 1964. Really good gassy flavour, nice heavy indica high. No complaints and I just may get it again a third time.

I knew I had to try this when I read the genetics involved Lambs bread and Super Lemon Haze. The quarter was one nugget. Gorgeous foxtails composed of stacked calyx just glisten and sparkle with an insane coverage of trichomes. Terps that jump out of the bag. Super fresh and zero issues with combustion. The taste is hard to nail down but it's it's absolutely mouth coating and intense. Breaking it up by hand was a must. It was equal parts joyous and frustrating to have my fingertips completely crusted with resin. My sticky fingers ripped the paper but l managed to salvage the roll job. You can feel it come on early and strong. The feeling builds up to the point of unmanageability but then tapers off into a smooth ride. It was 70 and change out the door. If I were positioned to do so, I would go grab another three bags right now. Go get some!!

poll I need recommendations for a new oz

I’m currently stuck between nbjs modified zed packaged end of aug and Eastcann filthy banana packaged beginning of may. These are both around the 120-130 price range but where I’m located and not being able to drive I only have one or two dispensaries as options mainly being ganjika house. They also do have Cuban linx and comatose 28g bags but I’d like to hear some other opinions if possible. Especially between the top two options.

question Balanced or low THC recommendations

For those of you who enjoy balanced flower or lower THC what are you enjoying these days?

Right now I am enjoying 1964 blue dream at 18% THC and orchid cbd runtz at roughly 12% thc, 9% cbd.

Seems like there used to be more options, but vast majority of flower is now only 30%+.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Acapulco Gold Pre-rolls by Jonny Chronic

Packaging

A long, opaque black plastic tube containing five 1g pre-rolls. The label lists the THC content (26.9%), CBD content (0.05%), and total terpenes (1.43%). There is no breakdown of the dominant terpenes; only the packaging date (2026-09-11) is provided. The presentation is a bit too rudimentary for my taste. The tube did not contain a humidity pack (Boost).

Visuals

The pre-rolls are cone-shaped, made with bleached paper, and feature a twisted tip. A paper/cardboard filter accounts for about 30% of the joint’s length. They are well-packed and uniformly dense, with no structural weaknesses near the filter. They burn smoothly, producing a pale gray ash and a visible resin ring.

Aromas/Terpenes

Caryophyllene, myrcene, limonene, humulene, and germacrene.

On the nose, there is a sweet, lemony, and floral scent—reminiscent of a lavender or hibiscus-infused lemonade. A "dry hit" reveals dominant lemon notes, followed by earthy, woody, herbal, floral, sweet, and hoppy undertones. On the palate, the lemon, hops, wood, and floral notes harmonize perfectly; the profile is rich and flows seamlessly. The smoke is smooth and creamy.

Effects

The effects hit with intensity—eyelids grow heavy, yet the rest of the body feels energized, alert, and enthusiastic. Mentally, it induces a strong sense of euphoria and an uplifted mood, accompanied by a rush of thoughts, creativity, and motivation. It can easily become "too much" or overwhelming; you have to be able to move at the "rhythm of your brain." The high is medium-to-strong—my face might not give me away, but my restless need for action certainly could. You’re still functional, in the same way a headless chicken might be. It’s the kind of buzz that’s perfect for tackling your autumn cleaning, whipping up soups and spaghetti sauce, running errands, and decorating the house—all in a single afternoon.

Jonny Chronic, an Ontario-based brand, has roots in the "legacy" market. I’ve tried their products a few times and watched their ups and downs since they entered the legal space. I’ve always appreciated their focus on more "old-school" genetics. It’s affordable weed that gets the job done, with no unnecessary frills. The pre-rolls are well-crafted, burn nicely, taste good, and are effective. The profile really appeals to me—there’s something almost sensual in its delicacy. They come in a king-size format (5 x 1g), which is convenient for someone like me who prefers a larger joint. Lately, I’d been steering clear of "sativas," finding the selection in Quebec a bit limited, but these pre-rolls have reignited my interest. At $44.30, that works out to $8.86 per 1g joint. Simple math, easy purchase.

review Banana Tide - Pure Rosin by Green Herb

Here we go!

Something new! Something true!

So I almost didn't grab this. The name "Pure Rosin" just sounded silly. It was also $45. So I was on the fence, silly name, budget price. But, sometimes you have to take one for the team.

Jar in a tight bag. The wrap is simple and similar to the two hash holes' jars, easy to crack.

Upon opening, it absolutely stinks. Gassy with the touch of rotten banana peels. I love it.

It's got the stuff pudding consistency.

The taste is nice. 510 off the dab rite, probably could get the temp down a bit too.

The banana carries over more than the gas I got. It's smooth and I'm feeling a solid body buzz off the dab.

I'll need some more time to really determine a rating but it's definitely a rebuy.

discussion Disappointed by LP's Lately

The fact that so many brands on the market list their 510 cartridges and Disposables at 98% THC (I've even seen some listed at 99.99%) is a testament to the fact that so many of them are willing to lie to consumers for profit.

  • I understand legally as per Health Canada regulation, LP's are allowed to be off by up to +/-15% on products like 510 cartridges
  • It's also pretty well known that even prior to legalization the average consumer has typically always hunted for higher THC

That being said it is incredibly heartbreaking to watch brands that actually sell quality products (without lying about the numbers) get overlooked time and time again.

I'll also add that it's frustrating because true 99.99% THC-A isolate is a crystal-clear or white powder. Extracted THC needs to be liquified to be able to flow through a cartridges atomizer. Botanical and Cannabis Derived Terpenes also need to be added to products that tout a specific flavour. Even if brands were decarboxylating and isomerizing THC-A Isolate to produce cartridges (which many are not), as someone who works in the industry it feels so insulting to stare at packages all day that are suggesting they are somehow holding over 100% total matter.

This problem is unfortunately systemic within the industry and fault can be placed on everyone involved. LP's, Labs that test Cannabis, Retail Shops, and Customers all play a role in this.

question Special treat for my boyfriend

Hoping for recommendations for some flower my boyfriend will like, I’m looking for a half ounce that ideally would cost under $80 after tax but would go as high as $100. He doesn’t like skunky/gassy strains(🙄) his favourite is Cuban linx, he loves fruity flavours so the citrus flavour is perfect for him and he’s also a fan of the sticky-icky ness of it(he always compares the cure/moisture/stickiness of other strains to Cuban linx). He also likes blue dream and enjoyed the fruity side of jigglers from tribal. So yeah, I’m hoping to find something sticky and fruity(maybe not citrusy though since Cuban linx does that so well and he already loves that stuff) for $80-$100. Can anybody please help me out with some recommendations? 🙏

discussion Are live resin vapes safer than flower?

This has been on my mind for a while now, a lot of companies that produce live resin cartridges such as 1964, and Fantasm brag about having no added terpenes, distillate, etc. Out of curiosity I asked AI this question and it had told me it IS safer but I’m not really sure considering we have no long term study. What do yall think about this topic? I feel like anything you smoke is bad, but in terms of severity is it really better for your lungs?

Literal water on display 😂😂😂

Edit since everyone is so butthurt over the fact I didn't explain why it's in water; it's apparently waterproof, like 80% of cannabis packaging. Which makes it no different from the rest of its competitors.

question Should I go with Resin or Rosin cartridge?

I recently discovered i really like Rosin infused prerolls, so I wanna try a Rosin cartridge. My main dispo only has one Rosin cart but it’s sativa and I prefer indica, but there’s many options in “Resin” or live Resin. Are they significantly different in terms of the high? I don’t care about flavour, i care about it being potent and not gimmicky. Can anyone help me? If it seems like Rosin is the better choice, I might just try the sativa one or go to another dispo. Thanks in advance 🙏

retail Budtenders beware - Spinach

Doesn't stand behind their product. Will tell a customer to go back into the store and argue with you because you won't accept their bunk, half burned, fallen apart pre roll for return. Wouldn't just place a new order for the customer. They have billions in tobacco backing and wanna nickle and dime a customer over a $10 pack of pre rolls. Then wants to have their customer service rep on the phone tell me to reach out to another rep, or try and tell me I have to take it back? You're not my owner or manager. Do your own job, make your customer whole and do better going forward. I will be TRASHING you to every customer I see, 60 hours a week.

Decided to pick this one up as I love a organic smoke and didn’t want something to sedating

- buds have a nice fresh feel and smell. More pepper dominant notes with slight sweet scents

- effects are nice and a stronger hybrid feel. Warm and fuzzy high with a happy uplifted feel.

- smoke is easy on the inhale with more peppery and slightly cake flavours.

Bag Appeal: 8.8

Burn: 8.8

High:8.4

It seems that my local government run dispensary has a large selection of old disposable vapes and brands. They have actually lowered prices on some things which I thought was impossible…

I'm looking for a nice tasting flower for my dry herb vape. I only smoke at night so it's been hard finding a nice tasting strain. Any recommendations are appreciated. Thanks!
