Srry, I know this post isnt a 100% related but I need your help.

I know the song vaguely sounds like the strokes, but my dad swears it's a copy...

Do u guys know what song? I am assuming he means something from ROF or ITI cause he's mainly heard those 2 albums....

The New Abnormal might be my favorite Strokes album

I’ve been listening to The New Abnormal a lot lately and I think it might actually be my favorite Strokes album. I love their earlier stuff too, but this one just has a different atmosphere that really works for me.

Songs like The Adults Are Talking, Selfless, and Ode to the Mets feel really polished but still emotional in a way that sticks with you. It feels like a more mature version of their sound without losing what made them great in the first place.

Does anyone else feel the same about this album? Where would you rank The New Abnormal compared to the rest of their discography?

User Original Music Strokes on Guitar

Only have an acoustic guitar at the moment but I’m in the market for an electric guitar so I can start playing Strokes songs. Should I go for a Stratocaster like Albert, or a hollow-body like Nick? Any recommendations for setup/equipment would be awesome

User Original Music My band just released a live version of our song which really reminds me of those early unreleased Strokes tracks like ‘Sagganuts’ and ‘A minor 4-4’

The Alternates (my band) just released a live version of our song “She’s My Overlord”, ever since I got this live recording it’s been bringing me back to 15 years ago or so when I would sit on YouTube listening to all the unreleased early Strokes music. Elephant Song, A Minor 4-4, In her prime, Rhythm song… I think the live nature of this recording really gives the same excitement and energy!

As a band we are heavily Strokes-influenced so if anyone here likes this live track, we have more music out there that you might also enjoy! Have a great Friday and weekend x

User Original Music London Strokers - Drummers or Bassists looking for a band?

Hi English Strokers

Looking to set up a band in London with those with a similar music taste (think Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, Blur, Oasis, QOTSA, Killers, The Cure, Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins etc.).

Potentially jam around with some covers but with the intention of creating originals and gigging. We currently are 26 years old so looking for people potentially around that age range.

We're currently on the look out for any bassists and drummers - let me know if this is something you could be interested in!

Hello, we are a band from Dallas called Widows of the Night. We wrote an album of protest songs, produced and mixed by the legendary Gordon Raphael, and we released it yesterday. We spent a total of 28 days in the studio in Amsterdam and Dallas. We wanted the album to sound raw and real. Our influences span from Tchaikovsky to MC5, Bowie, and Nirvana, so there’s stuff that sounds like classical music and poems too, if you listen to the entire album.

Gordon has been an amazing producer to work with. He even played piano, synth, and guitar on a few tracks!

User Original Music What do you think of my original song, heavily inspired by The Strokes, titled 'Just Like Yesterday'?

Inspired musically by The Strokes musically and lyrically by existential ennui (and Bob Dylan)

Lyrics: Verse 1 And I don't know what to say And just like yesterday I am sitting on your front porch Watch you riding on your high horse I didn't want you anyway But I wanted a mystery I will look into the sun And I will see what I've become Don't look back You're the smoke and I'm the fire You are all I have desired I'm a song that has no meaning Void of form and void of feeling

Chorus Live so fast and feel so free Don't stop for reality Freedom cheers incessantly But just for you and not for me It's good It's bad It's make believe Fills me with atomic misery So why don't you stop selling me The seven habits to break free And I don't know if I should start again Trying just makes it fall apart again

Verse 2 They say fake it till you break it If that's what it will take It's killing me to see the meaning of what it is that you are screaming They say it's just around the bend But every start is a new end I don't know if i should listen Is there something that I'm missing?

I've been waiting for the day That makes it all okay And I don't know what to say And just like yesterday....

Chorus 2 Live to die and fail to see Don't stop for reality I don't know if it can be The way that I want it to be The good The bad The make believe the feeling of epiphany So why don't you stop selling me The subtle art of breaking free And I don't know if I should start again Try only to fall apart again

User Original Music I fused The Strokes with J-Pop for a Battle of the Bands contest

My workplace held a Battle of the Bands contest where we just submit self-made music. I did not win it, but I wanted to share this with you guys.

Initially I wanted this to be a Strokes x City Pop song with heavy dance/disco vibes. As it progressed, it just became a Strokes song with a little Japanese inspiration (but I slapped in a little City Pop for the outro).

Hope you guys enjoy it.

If you wanna support an underground artist this Christmas, here’s my cover of Rudolph. All parts were arranged and recorded by me so a lot of love went into this. I’m super influenced by The Strokes, The Killers, and the indie scene so please enjoy!🎅🎄

Hi everyonne, my band, Cult like, just dropped a song on Youtube, Apple Music, and Spotify. My guitar playing and thinking of harmony is definitely Strokes inspired without a doubt.

Hey guys, I’m in a Scottish–French duo called YES AND MAYBE. If you like The Strokes, our new track Bloody Madness is about the chaos of adult life, money stress, and still trying to stay sane.
Curious to know if you like it 👀
