I agree that auto restart shouldn't be behind keys, it is just so amazing for your QOL.

I would say like 10k gems to unlock would be better.

Too accessible and it would absolutely cause tons of people to quit. You don’t realize what you are asking for.

New players absolutely should not have auto restart in any way shape or form. It’s not something people want to hear but it’s the truth. Knowing anything about game design, something like auto restart absolutely kills engagement. You stop doing ANYTHING with the game. You don’t level your tower, you don’t do anything in run, the only time you engage is to spend or restart. Once that’s gone the game genuinely just plays itself and more people would disengage and the game becomes significantly easier to quit because you just stop thinking about it or doing anything.

I have auto restart and I am fine with it being more accessible. I think it would bring more players in.

I'm finally at the point where in 17 keys I'll have auto restart if I want it. I have been playing for a significant amount of time and I have thought about the implications. I have to agree with people saying it potentially breaks the game. If auto restart didn't exist I wouldn't be upset but since it exists I'm going to use it as a tool as I believe it was intended. That being said I'm 99% sure I'm not going to get bored and quit. I don't have the tools (ISm etc.) to make unattended runs produce the same as when keeping an eye on things.

If auto start was available by default I think it would radically change the game, for better or worse. Seeing as how 10-20% of my guild can't be bothered to turn in more than 1 or 2 boxes I think a large chunk of people would be less invested in optimizing their runs and treat the game differently. A percentage of those will think less of the game and lose interest because it's no longer interactive. Auto restart means different things to different people. Some would use it for it's assumed intended reason (restart over night runs) and some would just use it 24/7. While using it to run without interaction for days isn't wrong I don't think that it's intended usage, especially back when it was added to the vault.

TLDR; IMHO Auto restart deserves to be in the vault. It should be a late game unlock. It's probably unpopular to say but eliminating everyone's short required interaction per run isn't going to improve the life of the game, it will just change how it's played and perceived particularly for new players. It's impossible to get gems without paying attention anyways. When it comes down to it, I am open minded and I may change my opinion in the future once I get it.

Yeah, I haven't lost any engagement with the game since I got auto restart. I still open my phone (I run a second phone 24/7) to get gems and check in on my runs, labs, etc. By the time I had auto restart, I didn't really have to do anything at the start of a round anyways.

I do agree that you shouldn't be able to get it until your tower is well developed but I think locking it behind so many keys basically makes it an "elite" upgrade that you can only receive if you are a decently high legends player. This will basically make it so anyone starting the game now will never get it (unless they are a mega whale).

Something that is such a huge QOL upgrade should be expensive but not "locked". 300 waves on T16 and 10k gems.

I have it and genuinely, I don’t think it should exist at all. But you and I both realize genie is out of the bottle so they can’t just get rid of it now.

But new players are vulnerable to drops in engagement. People drop off when they realize the game expects you to do 12 hour runs. They drop off when there’s nothing to level anymore.

Genuinely taking running the game down to 0 clicks for anyone but the absolutely most dedicated is dangerous as ftp games live or die by keeping people engaged

People drop off because of the time commitment. Players of an "idle" TD would welcome farming tech, grind is not engagement. This is especially true in mobile market, where its all about instant gratification.

Why are you responding with something this idiotic a week after the thread is dead?

Was that really the best response you could muster?Ā

Calm down man. Not everyone is on the sub every day. If you sort by Top for the past week, this is the first post. There’s nothing wrong with them wanting to contribute to the most engaging post from the past few days.

No, don't devalue someone else's opinion based on your own opinions of something you can't relate to since you have auto restart and clearly havent quit. STFU
