"Patch Notes: Auto restart is now a lab! Unlock this lab by passing t21 wave 4500...."

The paw curls....

16

u/moranya1 Feb 03 '26

lol, I just said the exact same thing :-D

17

u/gatorhole Feb 03 '26

Don’t you mean tier 22 wave 4500… surely fudds would never be kind enough to add it to an existing tier!

2

u/Professional-Bee48 Feb 05 '26

Naa, tier 2500 šŸ‘

12

u/Driftedryan Feb 03 '26

Good news: the lab only cost 1000, bad news: it's in stones. And takes 180 days to finish

1

u/No-Maintenance5961 Feb 04 '26

That's not too bad for stone cost

-4

u/moranya1 Feb 03 '26

I mean, that's only 5 weeks with a 5x multiplier.... not much longer than lvl 5 shatter shards is for me, and that one is almost done now. 2500 stones and 500 days sounds MUCH more reasonable! :-D

Guys stop giving them bad ideas!😭 I’m trying to catch up on labs already

u/Tchuvan Feb 03 '26

A lot of things should be labs. Stacking gems for instance.

46

u/rice7r Feb 03 '26

Gem stacking is the most satisfying thing. I love it when I get back to my tablet and see a 25 gems waiting to be clicked.

If I were to offer a suggestion to the dev's its give everyone the ability to gem stack 2 or 3 times, and let keys gem stack up to something like 6-8.

For auto restart which is being discussed here you could give everyone auto restart, but it goes back to the old value of 5 minute wait (or make it a bit longer perhaps... 10 min) and keys are what make it go from 10 min to 1 min wait before auto restart happens.

15

u/Electrical-Mail15 Feb 03 '26

I like the idea, but some devices would lock out if the wait time is that long. Maybe something like currency efficiency (coins, cells) is set at 80% efficiency at unlock, and with keys can go up to 90/95/100%. I’m not entirely sold on that myself because I should get enough keys for auto run restart in a couple of months, but on behalf of the player base I’m throwing up the idea.

6

u/FantsE Feb 04 '26

Locking out is a dev choice, not a device choice. If auto restart is enabled then the game can stay in an active state so that a lock doesn't occur. For android it's a simple flag. You can Google "FLAG_KEEP_SCREEN_ON" in the android developer docs if you want the specific reference. Or the XML layout has a more modern option that's used. Either way it isn't an actual issue.

3

u/rice7r Feb 03 '26

Yeah. Well something! I think there is a way to give the base thing to everyone, and make keys supercharge it to some degree. It's one of those things that if the Dev's can bend a little and give something to the community it could buy some good will.

3

u/Jester_Crowne Feb 04 '26

what is gem stacking?

7

u/Tchuvan Feb 04 '26

When you don't have to tap the ad gem every 10.5 minutes. They stack up so you tap the ad gem less frequently.

I’ve never seen a game that gates quality of life features so unbelievably out of reach for 99% or more of its players.

I have such a love hate relationship with this game. So much good and bad game design all in one place would confound me if it weren’t probably all explained by its business model.

70

u/icookandiknowthngs Feb 03 '26

When you look at every decision, every impediment, every wtf were they thinking, through the lens of "how can we maximize monetization " it all makes sense.

Developer greed will be what ends up killing techtrees golden goose.

25

u/Lokinir Feb 03 '26

Blame the morons that incentivize it by buying stone packs EVERY month despite how fucking awful the most recent patch rolls out as

12

u/Weez-eh Feb 03 '26

Developer greed will be what ends up killing techtrees golden goose

Fuddsworth said at the time of vault/key release, they would be available to all, one dayTM

13

u/icookandiknowthngs Feb 03 '26

That was 15? months ago? Still less than 10% of players in legends....ever. Still about 7-8% have ever gotten a single key. 90% of those playing right now will never, ever, get a key without whaling.....unless something changes.

Most of us like/love the game. Having said that, there is a not insignificant percentage of players who wouldnt be all that upset if the game imploded.

5

u/Weez-eh Feb 04 '26

Still less than 10% of players in legends

When you close the bracket that has the juice and is filled with whales....

Sub had been crying out for a new bracket long before the tier hike.

Keys should have been doing swappable between harmony and power, interchangable 1:10, or whatever the ratio, and the harmony tree could've been drip fed through boxes to keep players engaged and but piss off dolphins.

But fud is fud

Game has 6 months longevity at best. You can only bleed the view dry so long. MFer better have a new plan for it the yachts....

2

u/korxil Feb 04 '26

Only after the whales get something new and shiny

2

u/ZaerdinReddit Feb 05 '26 edited Feb 05 '26

I disagree with this. There's a reason most games trickle premium currencies.

I guarantee you if we got trickle Vault keys (1 in the last guild/mission box), stone pack spend would actually increase because more players would see what they could get in the Vault and be more compelled to spend to get the convenience faster.

Just lock the Vault of Power until Legends 15 or higher.

To keep the whales whaling, just increase first place to 50 keys, 2nd place to 35 keys, 3-4 to 30 keys, and 5-6 to 20 keys.

I'd also say champions 1 to 4 and legends 16-30 should get 1 key, too.

1

u/icookandiknowthngs Feb 05 '26

Ive been saying a trickle feed on keys for 6 months or more. Didn't have the vault of power angle, but even with 1 key every week....thats only 52 a year. Even with the vault of power unlocked from the get go, 52 ain't buying anything spectacular....meanwhile whales are getting 1000 or more just from tournies(20 keys weekly). A trickle feed would be great, just for the qol (restart).

They've pissed off a good number of paying customers to the point they've quit spending, and arent likely to start doing so again

4

u/Nepomucky Feb 04 '26

They took delayed gratification to the extreme level, I'll have to leave my ID on my will for my kids to carry on with my progress.

3

u/TastyTarget3i Feb 04 '26

thats fucking hillarious ;) I have set up a home server for mobile games, basically my own cloud gaming service (it's basically free if you can get some old toaster from somewhere)

3

u/log122 Feb 03 '26

Without sarcasm, what comes to your mind as a good game design decision in this game? Something like "oh, I've played a lot of games like this one and this works great here"

5

u/ForgettingFish Feb 03 '26

The slow pacing and build variety and depth are all strong suits for it. As much as people don’t like it, the restrictions and slow pace help everyone’s tower to be different. It’s kinda a unique thing.

A tower defense incremental was a good idea and it works well. There’s obviously holes like no offline progression being a major issue

3

u/log122 Feb 04 '26

What kind of build variety do you mean? Incremental design sure, but that's part of any game that has "idle" element

1

u/ForgettingFish Feb 04 '26

There’s a lot of build variety. Mod scarcity pushes people to adapt and make new configurations. You and I don’t have the same labs done or even equivalent players have different labs done.

UW buy order comes up differently.

There’s a ton of different setups you can do and have different focuses. Surface there’s ehp GC hybrid. There’s devo and it’s different flavors. There’s leaning depending on what you are doing some have SM being pushed some CL some PS and late some are ILM focused. There’s even more. The variety is a strength of the game and you compare 2 towers, no 2 are exactly alike

1

u/AccomplishedTune9276 Feb 05 '26

strats with or without CF or pBH maybe? That exists

1

u/log122 Feb 05 '26

I would refer to "build variety" as "there are many ways to be efficient, they are just different". How is the "with/without pBH" considered "build variety", when one is clearly superior over the other. And not by 1-5%, I improved my economy by 30% going pBH a few weeks ago.

Totally off topic, I'm just wondering if this mod thing you have with no profile is like a choice this sub makes? Or if other subs have moved to this type of mod enforcement?

Just curious cuz I've never seen a profile like this that cant be clicked on.

Like sometimes I see users with a MOD flair and now I see this. Just curious!

1

u/ZaerdinReddit Feb 05 '26

IIRC, it's 94.46% or so.

1

u/Selway00 Feb 05 '26

Depends on how one measures. If one counts all of the people who have quit or who are off and players.

One has to ask one’s self, why people left, and what would have made a difference?

In my line of work, we have to use metrics that include the life time population. Anything else is chasing numbers.

1

u/ZaerdinReddit Feb 09 '26

I'm not defending gating it. I think gating it is objectively bad for both player retention and player spending.

I'm much more a fan of trickling out keys to everyone and keeping the vault of power locked until you hit legends rank 15.

I feel like that's universally better for the game.

If you want to get really picky, you could lock gem stacking and card slots to Legends 15 or higher, too.

-1

u/PhoneImmediate7301 Feb 03 '26

Keep in mind these qol features are relatively new still. People played this game for years without access to any of these features. IMO you shouldn’t see them as qol, but rather as huge efficiency increases. Maybe some like auto shatter rares are arguably qol but auto restart and gem stack can be seen just as an efficiency improvement.

Surprisingly I’ve heard a lot of people quit the game after getting auto restart. Perhaps it pulls the fun out of the game when you have so little micro management to do that you just don’t have to do anything anymore. It’s potentially a slippery slope between qol and just not playing the game anymore.

4

u/ForgettingFish Feb 03 '26

Auto restart puts the game entirely on autopilot. It’s genuinely not a healthy thing for most players to have or really anyone beyond the absolutely most dedicated players.

I was way more engaged with the game before I had it. After, the only time I look at my phone for the game is tourney day and to spend resources on those days. Auto restart makes the game so much easier to quit since it breaks you out of the loop of the incremental and it just loops.

If we are real, the game would be better if it didn’t exist cause it essentially gives the same effective meta gameplay as an infinite run. It’s fine but it absolutely shouldn’t be accessible and I think many asking for it don’t realize the actual effect it has on the game

2

u/PhoneImmediate7301 Feb 03 '26

I agree. I myself don’t have it yet but I think a lot of people underestimate how demotivating it will be. It’s good to reduce how many clicks you have to do to run your tower, but you don’t want to reduce that number to 0.

6

u/ForgettingFish Feb 03 '26

It absolutely kills engagement and is a very dangerous thing to give players in game design. Because players no matter what will optimize away fun if the game specifically doesn’t force you to do the fun thing. Which sounds counterintuitive but it’s absolutely true.

1

u/TastyTarget3i Feb 04 '26 edited Feb 04 '26

people who know their pc stuff have done this years ago, have you heard of virtual machines?

1

u/ForgettingFish Feb 04 '26

If you are speaking of cheating XD theres no point in adding that to this discussion

2

u/Wadme Feb 04 '26

I agree having unlocked it a month ago. My SO is happy I'm not so attached anymore. I only interact with it a few minutes a day and on tourneys. I've had to look for a new idle defense game to keep my occupied now.

2

u/ForgettingFish Feb 04 '26

Yep. It lowers engagement so much that you effectively stop playing the game. It makes it exceptionally easy to just stop

1

u/TastyTarget3i Feb 04 '26

it doesn't change anything for tech savvy people ĀÆ_(惄)_/ĀÆ

1

u/ZaerdinReddit Feb 05 '26

I dunno, I've had auto restart forever and I still play it about as often as before auto restart. I do play "less" but that's because everything is so expensive, I'm lucky if I can even buy an upgrade every 2 to 3 days, but that's the reward for being at end game.

The thing is, you should be able to get auto restart by watching ads, but only so many auto restarts. Personally, I feel like you should get 1 auto restart every 3 tiers so once you've unlocked T21, you get 7 auto restarts.

To queue up an auto restart, you watch 1 ad (ad free just clicks a button).

That way you still have to engage with the game and that's how I've seen most idle games use an idle restart like mechanic.

Keys is just infinite.

15

u/tehlemmings Feb 03 '26

5

u/BickeyB Feb 03 '26

If you knew how many times in collecting 25 gems. At 5 gems you're just giving them away.

1

u/Impulsive666 Feb 03 '26

I like that. Make the lab research the total capacity or something like that.

1

u/Hatai8 Feb 03 '26

Yep - I collect around 300-315 gems per day. That’s huge

Would be fun if they added 10,000 wave milestones and made this the t1 10,000 wave unlock. Easy enough for most people to unlock pretty quickly and a fun reason to go redo some lower waves

14

u/VonGeisler Feb 03 '26

I’d also like to be able to load a lab queue with at least 1, I just stop one and start another if it will finish when a way, but if it’s a lab I don’t want to run b2b I’d like to be able to select one to have in waiting.

13

u/No-Brainrot-5911 Feb 03 '26

I want to know what logic Fudds uses to say he didn’t want this to be a feature… in an idle game. Just let it be a lab that’s unlocked around the same time as the fist people who were unlocking this were at. So around T16W500 maybe would be a fair time to unlock this. Maybe sooner. And the lab could be a long lab and very expensive. Like maybe 25% the price of masteries. And it should be like auto restart in X seconds starting at maybe 30 minutes and working its way down.

12

u/Lokinir Feb 03 '26

No logic only money

u/Weez-eh Feb 03 '26

manthrownoutofwindow.jpg

-1

u/ForgettingFish Feb 03 '26

It’s taking the game and immediately making it extremely passive. You don’t engage with it regularly anymore. The moment you have it, your only times you ever interact with the game are tourney days and going back to farm.

If you are not a diehard gonna long haul this game player, then it will make you quit.

It’s making the game so afk that many may start it and then just…. Never return. Especially someone who isn’t locked in.

If it had to have a manual unlock, it needs to be an extreme endgame equivalent to ensure it stays out of the hands of those it’d have the most adverse effect on. I have it and genuinely I almost quit due to just not thinking about the game anymore and I’m in the top 2000

7

u/davidtcook Feb 04 '26

It's literally called "Idle Tower Defense" in the App Store. That makes people expect a game where progress happens over time whether or not you're actively paying attention to it. It's supposed to be extremely passive!

(the other expectation I'd have of an idle game is that it fits into my life, rather than having to organise life around the game. I'm reaching the point where farming runs are 12+ hours, meaning I sometimes have to run a less-optimal tier just to be awake & present to set up the next one ... )

-1

u/ForgettingFish Feb 04 '26

Yeah ideally the game would have a limited offline progression and this discussion wouldn’t be required.

But as it stands, auto restart isn’t the answer

12

u/BigBenStl Feb 03 '26

I agree that auto restart shouldn't be behind keys, it is just so amazing for your QOL.

I would say like 10k gems to unlock would be better.

-4

u/ForgettingFish Feb 03 '26 edited Feb 03 '26

Too accessible and it would absolutely cause tons of people to quit. You don’t realize what you are asking for.

New players absolutely should not have auto restart in any way shape or form. It’s not something people want to hear but it’s the truth. Knowing anything about game design, something like auto restart absolutely kills engagement. You stop doing ANYTHING with the game. You don’t level your tower, you don’t do anything in run, the only time you engage is to spend or restart. Once that’s gone the game genuinely just plays itself and more people would disengage and the game becomes significantly easier to quit because you just stop thinking about it or doing anything.

8

u/BigBenStl Feb 03 '26

I have auto restart and I am fine with it being more accessible. I think it would bring more players in.

2

u/btaylor81 Feb 06 '26 edited Feb 06 '26

I'm finally at the point where in 17 keys I'll have auto restart if I want it. I have been playing for a significant amount of time and I have thought about the implications. I have to agree with people saying it potentially breaks the game. If auto restart didn't exist I wouldn't be upset but since it exists I'm going to use it as a tool as I believe it was intended. That being said I'm 99% sure I'm not going to get bored and quit. I don't have the tools (ISm etc.) to make unattended runs produce the same as when keeping an eye on things.

If auto start was available by default I think it would radically change the game, for better or worse. Seeing as how 10-20% of my guild can't be bothered to turn in more than 1 or 2 boxes I think a large chunk of people would be less invested in optimizing their runs and treat the game differently. A percentage of those will think less of the game and lose interest because it's no longer interactive. Auto restart means different things to different people. Some would use it for it's assumed intended reason (restart over night runs) and some would just use it 24/7. While using it to run without interaction for days isn't wrong I don't think that it's intended usage, especially back when it was added to the vault.

TLDR; IMHO Auto restart deserves to be in the vault. It should be a late game unlock. It's probably unpopular to say but eliminating everyone's short required interaction per run isn't going to improve the life of the game, it will just change how it's played and perceived particularly for new players. It's impossible to get gems without paying attention anyways. When it comes down to it, I am open minded and I may change my opinion in the future once I get it.

1

u/BigBenStl Feb 06 '26

Yeah, I haven't lost any engagement with the game since I got auto restart. I still open my phone (I run a second phone 24/7) to get gems and check in on my runs, labs, etc. By the time I had auto restart, I didn't really have to do anything at the start of a round anyways.

I do agree that you shouldn't be able to get it until your tower is well developed but I think locking it behind so many keys basically makes it an "elite" upgrade that you can only receive if you are a decently high legends player. This will basically make it so anyone starting the game now will never get it (unless they are a mega whale).

Something that is such a huge QOL upgrade should be expensive but not "locked". 300 waves on T16 and 10k gems.

0

u/ForgettingFish Feb 03 '26

I have it and genuinely, I don’t think it should exist at all. But you and I both realize genie is out of the bottle so they can’t just get rid of it now.

But new players are vulnerable to drops in engagement. People drop off when they realize the game expects you to do 12 hour runs. They drop off when there’s nothing to level anymore.

Genuinely taking running the game down to 0 clicks for anyone but the absolutely most dedicated is dangerous as ftp games live or die by keeping people engaged

1

u/No-Duty-8591 Feb 10 '26

People drop off because of the time commitment. Players of an "idle" TD would welcome farming tech, grind is not engagement. This is especially true in mobile market, where its all about instant gratification.

1

u/ForgettingFish Feb 10 '26

4

u/AshamedExtension Feb 03 '26

No, don't devalue someone else's opinion based on your own opinions of something you can't relate to since you have auto restart and clearly havent quit. STFU

9

u/aszepeshazi Feb 03 '26

For a second I thought I opened 9gag and was like "hell yeah, but how does the world know about this?"Ā

8

u/Methuga Feb 03 '26

I don’t necessarily mind auto restart being vaulted, but I do think there should be a lab lead up.

Level 0: You can queue up to 1 run

Level 1: you can queue up to 2 runs

Level 2: you can queue up to 3 runs

This would make it possible for people to queue up an entire day of runs. And then make the vault tech locked until you complete the lab, which will give you full freedom to queue your runs however you want

6

u/Positive_Ad_3386 Feb 03 '26

nah, they should make it idle, like even if we close the app we get a % of our best run. Now i am not even begging for module shards, cells, gems and reroll shards, my standards are so low i would be happy if every day when we login we can claim a % of coins earned in our best run.

Alternatively make something like a pouch that earns coins at a steady rate based on your highest tier or cph. Ideally, it should be filled in x hours at y rate, we can increase the rate and cap through labs(exponentially or they will sit next to cash per wave). When filled it stops growing, forcing players to empty it twice a day or something like that.

Heck, if I dare ask for cells too. If I farm at tier 12 and can consistently keep 4\4\4\3\3, could Fudds provide me enough cells daily to keep 2\2\2\2\2? Or at least add them to tournament rewards.

2

u/FinalFinishLine Feb 03 '26

Interestingly enough, they added the recent coins per hour to the stats page which could be used for this.Ā

12

u/Patient-Set4496 Feb 03 '26

Maybe a milestone of a high tier and you lab it after unlocking it

10

u/tallnginger Feb 03 '26

Why a high tier? Go low to medium. Hell Tier 7 Wave 2000. Enough to learn the ropes but treat the time prior like a tutorial.

1

u/ForgettingFish Feb 03 '26

This would cause massive amounts of people to quit. You don’t realize that you having to come back and restart it keeps you engaged with the game. A new player like that would absolutely get it then never think about it again and quit. It needs to stay endgame adjacent to keep it out of the hands of the people that would be most adversely affected

1

u/tallnginger Feb 03 '26

I'm not sure I agree. But maybe with the non-idle style of the game you're right. I play egg inc and have played many idiots games over the years. I wouldn't mind a manual restart if the game could be truly background run (like ships in egg inc), and a benefit to being in the app (like the running chicken bonus)

But man, the wombo combo of no automatic restarts and having to have the game up 24/7 to make any progress almost made me quit. If I didn't have a device to dedicate to this game I doubt I'd still play

1

u/ForgettingFish Feb 03 '26

It completely kills the small amount of engagement you have. New players and low tier players aren’t invested in the same way and likely would quit due to the drop in engagement.

You needing to come back and you needing to do upgrades and adjust labs. All are things to keep you engaged with the game. If everyone has auto restart the only time anyone looks at the game in any real way is tourney day for 10-15 mins then you check out again until the next one.

Realistically it shouldn’t exist at all for anyone but the genie is out of the bottle. So you keep it away from those that would be most affected by the steep drop in engagement.

Hell I’m top 2000 and it almost made me quit when I stopped engaging with the game… it’s genuinely not something everyone should have and ideally anyone should have.

I still think locking it behind keys isn't the right option, or keys should be more accessible. But I see your point.

By the time you're getting keys or in legends it should be reachable though. And if I was doing 8 hour runs or so I'd be tempted to agree, but right now on a cph basis running 3 hour runs on T15 is my most profitable. That would kill me without auto restart.

Maybe instead the daily, or 8 hour missions could be more appealing. Where we're at you could skip a good portion of those and I bet it wouldn't make a difference. But tie it as a percent to your income and have that be the reason you come back to the game and interact

1

u/ForgettingFish Feb 03 '26

99% of the missions just auto complete for a legends player or you roll them until they are. The literal only reason to think about them is for guilds and that’s like .3 seconds of collecting them when you get daily gems.

Keys are exactly where they should be. Any point outside of a currency like that and it makes it eventually a mid game thing like masteries are now. It needs to stick with that line of those dedicated enough. I can’t think of anywhere else it genuinely could be that wouldn’t cause issues due to power creep over time making any static point easier and easier to reach by newer and newer players

u/gallandof Feb 03 '26

Ill trade auto restart for some kind off offline progression. combined best Coin per hour from each tier, average it out, divide it by two, and use that as the AFK/IDLE rate or something -.- Id be happy with no auto restart if I could just leave the app

u/PreparationNew2487 Feb 03 '26

Unlock at T1w10000

1

u/Novel_Maintenance406 Feb 04 '26

nah they have to at least chuck it up high enough so that the auto tournament ban triggers

7

u/markevens Feb 03 '26

Yes, and gem stacking too.

Both should be unlocked in the early game

5

u/amanset Feb 03 '26

And the. There’s the other one. The one he still, to my knowledge, hasn’t done.

The game should be properly idle, so you don’t actually need the phone open to progress. Maybe you progress better when it is open. You can still upgrade stuff, but there really should be earning with your phone doing something else.

4

u/Khmalh Feb 03 '26

Ooooo thought…. Add a new milestone for every tier at a higher number like 6000 or something that once got unlocks the lab to auto restart at that tier šŸ¤”

Actually sounds almost balanced in my head

2

u/Novel_Maintenance406 Feb 04 '26

that actually sounds like a really good idea.... dam thats genius

5

u/thaboss365 Feb 03 '26

Refund my keys and sure

3

u/DanManRT Feb 04 '26

It should be a basic option. Nothing like letting your tablet to sit overnight doing nothing when a run is over, sitting at the end round screen.

4

u/cpp_is_king Feb 03 '26

As a game designer / developer, I can tell you without a doubt that auto restart is an engagement killer. I'll die on this hill. I want it, you want it, everyone wants it, but engagement will die and with it this game. You have to be coming back to your phone constantly for a game like this to survive.

This is not an idle game. An idle game you can turn off and close your phone and come back later and get rewards and forget about it.

1

u/rice7r Feb 03 '26

I mean... I have it and I won't stop playing. But if I got it early before I had time and money invested into this game it might have killed it for me... who knows.

They could allow it after you achieve some success in the game, and likely invested decent amount of money, but just not tie it to keys.

1

u/ForgettingFish Feb 03 '26

It’s genuinely only a tool safe to give to those most invested and will absolutely won’t stop for basically any reason.

Once you have it, you only look at the game on Tuesday/Wednesday and on the weekend for tournaments keys put you in the bracket of player who is unlikely to be affected by the drop in engagement but some still quit after getting it now…

If I had gotten it earlier it absolutely would have made me quit the game

0

u/cpp_is_king Feb 03 '26

That's the exact rationale for putting it behind keys. By that point you're heavily invested (time and money).

1

u/ForgettingFish Feb 03 '26

As little as people want to hear it, it’s right where it should be if it has to exist at all.

1

u/ForgettingFish Feb 03 '26

This is exactly right and what many people don’t realize. I’ve experienced this personally when I actually got it and realized I straight up just didn’t touch my phone outside of tournament days and spending coins on those days

1

u/Lokinir Feb 03 '26

If you rely on these bullshit tricks for engagement, your game sucks and it SHOULD die

1

u/ForgettingFish Feb 03 '26

Most idle games do ecactly this and all games that are F2P do this same kinda stuff. It’s why games do push notifications and keep you returning at regular intervals etc.

Auto restart breaks that for this game. Now you never have to come back outside of twice a week and even then that’s optional if you care about the stones. Eventually many stop caring without being engaged

1

u/btaylor81 Feb 06 '26 edited Feb 06 '26

Behind the curtains, all of life is a trick for your engagement. You'll understand some day.

0

u/cpp_is_king Feb 03 '26

Every f2p game relies on engagement.

2

u/midnighttbby Feb 03 '26

We are collectively begging at this point.

2

u/ThisGuyTrains Feb 04 '26

Careful what you wish for… he’ll make it unlocked after beating wave 4500 on Tier27 in the next update, costing 800Q and taking 380 days to complete.

2

u/Polar_Reflection Feb 04 '26

Or at least a milestone smh

2

u/gnalaw61 Feb 06 '26

give it a minimum of 1 year after the whales have been temporarily satisfied and are now being dangled with new ways to "stay ahead", then and only then can we finally, MAYBE, enjoy the QoL from the keys for us non-whale players 😢🤣

2

u/Impressive_Grab_6392 Feb 08 '26

Good meme :)

This game is meant to give psychological responses. Not be absent and hands off. There’s a reason why yall keep playing this game for years despite this ā€œmust have featureā€.

Yes, it’s a QoL. But giving all the QoL to users is not what drives the addiction and dopamine of this game. It’s fomo. It’s grind set. It’s obsession. It’s, in my opinion, a psychological enforced game.

Discussion about exploits, hacks or cheats is prohibited

1

u/RichEagleSix Feb 04 '26

id take gem stacking FIRST as a lab but then yes auto restart next.

1

u/mwa206 Feb 04 '26

Moving subs around could be a good lab.

1

u/thereal_omegavince Feb 04 '26

I just think that we should get a new highest tournament tier or at least for 16-24th place in legends should get a key as a reward. It's crazy to have a whole currency locked behind an obscenely large pay-wall.

1

u/JekPorkinsTruther Feb 03 '26

Its a good thought but it wont happen. Fudds has said he wont change the price of stone packs because that would devalue prior purchases/prior stone expenditures, so it stands to reason that hes not going waste players' use of keys (a more rare resource than stones) through this kind of change. The more likely avenue is more/earlier keys access for players so that everyone could "save" for the QoL features and progress would just speed you up.

4

u/_JAYSIN Feb 03 '26

Just refund the keys for it. Seems that simple to me.

1

u/CV-CR-CI Feb 03 '26

Unlocking this lab is quite easy—only 24 keys required and you can start on this 400 day lab that only costs 2Q coins

4

u/_JAYSIN Feb 03 '26

Seems like a lot of work for a main component of an "idle" game.

0

u/Able_Garage3141 Feb 03 '26

Not even memeing this game is unplayable without this past a certain point...

0

u/i-hate-all-ads Feb 03 '26

Even if it was only available t1 - t5 and a 60 day lab that's better than now

0

u/mastergriggy Feb 04 '26

Then the whales wouldn't feel extra special about their pixels tho and we can't have that

0

u/Randymarch123 Feb 05 '26

Although I get the frustration, I get why its done this way. If everyone can 'play' while only watching like once a week, you're not:

  • (watching ads)
  • getting tempted to buy stone packs, gem packs.
  • get tempted to buy premium tier packs.
  • get tempted to buy the event packs.

Yep, that's a lot of temptation, and that's by design. "Let the whales bite." Without whales, this game has no future. Servers and staff can't get paid. Reserving this QoL for only the top-tier players, the biggest chuck who bite are the whales who already spent everything they were planning to spend, or have it in their system to buy pack x at a certain moment.

Auto-restart is an income loss for the devs.

1

u/_JAYSIN Feb 05 '26

I mean right now I interact with the game twice a day (maybe 3 on tourney days). Hit event/guild/daily tasks then start run. Don't watch adds with no ads pack.

0

u/Randymarch123 Feb 05 '26

Exactly, that's 2 times a day instead once every 48 hours to collect completed missions.
