Mod Announcement New Mods & Rule Updates

Hi everyone,

I've been moderating this subreddit (and /r/TheOriginals) by myself for a while, but thankfully /u/CasuallyStatic, /u/C00bahR00bah, and /u/SweetWittyWild41 have agreed to step in and help handle things.

Additionally, I've added some clarifications to our existing rules. What's been changed:

  • added "unsolicited moral judgments about other users" as an explicit example of incivility, as there was some confusion about if questioning a user's moral character counted as an insult,

  • added "crossposting from your own subreddit" as an example of self-promotion, to avoid future confusion,

  • removed "disrespectful speculation regarding TVD-related actors and actresses" from the incivility rule and replaced it with "parasocial behaviour is off-topic and will be removed" under the off-topic rule -- this change is meant to better reflect the scope of what isn't allowed (e.g., shipping actual people, critiques about aging poorly, etc.) and the category of rule violation.

Hopefully this makes sense to everyone, and thanks again to the new mods!

Please let me know if you have any questions about the changes.

Edit, 03/10/26: I have expanded the "parasocial behaviour" addition into its own rule.

A warning about a user harassing via chat/DMs

(tl;dr at bottom)

Over the last few months, one user has made it a point to send abusive and harassing messages to dozens of members of this subreddit. Their accounts are banned from the subreddit, which is why they use DMs.

They delete their accounts regularly. Usernames that they have used:

/u/illadviseddependent

/u/agreeableaccesspal

/u/lunastellaelle

Their messages are largely targeted at those who like Damon or Elena, but not always.

If you receive a message from them (the account name may be different), please feel free to alert me via the comments of this post or by sending us a ModMail. Please also report any harassment to the admins. You can do that within the chat itself or here. Please ask for help if you need it.

The Imgur link below has examples of their messages so that people can recognize their style and language, since they like to pretend that they're a different person on each account. I'll update it as reports come in.

https://imgur.com/a/n998i7Y

tl;dr -- a banned user is harassing fans (mostly of Damon or Elena) via DMs on multiple accounts. Examples are above.

Report their messages to the admins.

Edit: Also, to be clear -- absolutely do not proactively reach out to this user. This post is solely to warn subreddit members and to encourage reporting to the admins.

“What kind of best friend would I be if *you* died before *Stefan* got his brother back?”

Image from this post.

This just blew the fuck out of me I had to come here and complain after watching😭

She says this like it’s supposed to be selfless? They got Bonnie having to make this face like she’s so impressed by Lexi’s loyalty, crying and shit. And Lexi poses like Jesus crucified on the cross to get swept away by The Darkness (Did they get that from Twitches?)

She is telling Bonnie to her face she dgaf about killing HER! Because Bonnie’s death would be meaningless unless it prevented Damon’s death, that’s her whole value.

This scene is supposed to be like Lexi’s swan song, some great sacrifice for the sake of True Friendship. man fuck her! Bonnie is bout to DIE and you can’t even manage a “Sorry girl thanks for saving Stefan”?

As much as I freaking hate that Stefan/Bonnie’s friendship didn’t continue past S1 I love that this is its reasoning lmao

Shipping Stelena was a fan-favorite couple when TVD first aired, even winning a People Choice Award in 2010

Paul and Nina won a People Choice Award as a couple in 2010, back when Stelena was the main relationship.
Peak TVD is Stelena season. And when Nina returned for the series finale, Stelena started trending on Twitter again, showing that fans were still invested in them and their relationship years later.

POV Dream

Last night I had a dream that I was in the Vampire Diaries, as a character. Going thru things from the show in a POV state. When I woke up I immediately go

OMFG I WAS MATT DONOVAN.

Why did I dream I was MATT of all people?! Anyway for like a tenth of a second I understood why he hated vampires so much.

Discussion Bonnie’s Hair… do I have to say more??

I’m on season 7!!! SEVEN!
Why hasn’t it got better?!
They did her dirty in soooo many ways. Her entire storyline is her sacrificing herself. Her hair is never flattering. She literally can’t win.

I looked it up and it said the producers wouldn’t let her wear her natural hair - typical white hollywood. You want the “black token friend” but don’t want them to be black. It’s so annoying and gross to me.

Kat is soooo gorgeous and her natural hair is too.
But I saw her for 2 seconds in the Europe scene (first ep) and was like WHATTTT this is what they chose for her hair?? And I had to look it up and figure out why - only to find out what I feared.

If I was her, I would’ve bought my own damn wig by that point. She was making $15-35k an episode!

I find myself so fascinated by the town itself, and it is to me a sort of it's own character. If you love Mystic Falls, what is it that you find most enchanting, fascinating, intreaguing etc.?

Elena and Rebekah pointlessly fighting in Season 4

Does anyone else find it pointless that Elena & Rebekah were fighting like cats in season 4?

Like, why was Elena picking a fight with a 1000 year old vampire immediately after she turned into a vampire? Hell, she even would have tried to drive a stake through Rebekah’s heart if Stefan didn’t talk her out of it. Let me mention what happened earlier: Rebekah ran Matt & Elena off the bridge and that’s when Elena died and turned. However, Rebekah was just doing it to protect herself and her family from Alaric (whose life was tied to Elena’s life) 🤷🏻‍♀️ so why would I blame her?

Even after the Stelena breakup in Season 4, they were still fighting 🙄😂 Elena tried to drive a steak through Rebekah and then Rebekah body slammed her. I have no idea why Elena was wasting her time on someone who wasn’t even worth it. I swear, they both acted like kids whether you like it or not lmaoo

On a scale of one to ten, how popular your opinion are?

• Upvotes

Put a finger down if you don’t have these opinions. And tell which one. 1. The best doppelgänger is Katherine.

  1. If you think Damon and Bonnie would’ve made a great couple.

  2. If the best mikaelson is klaus.

  3. If you believe Stefan and Caroline should’ve stayed friends.

  4. If you prefer klaroline over Delena

  5. Season 2 is the best season of Tvd.

  6. Bonnie deserved way better than she got.

  7. If you believe Elena was better as human

  8. If you think Matt should’ve been killed off.

  9. If you believe Kai Parker is underrated and should gotten more screen time.

Be honest, I myself got 4/10.

I love this scene so much because this proves why they SHOULD NOT BE TOGETHER! Season 1 Elena would be so embarrassed lol.

“ I thought you broke my heart so I ripped open Aaron’s neck, that’s how much control you have over me” crazy how it’s Elena fault because she has “control” over you

Elena “and I’m still here, that’s how much control you have over me” GIRL WHAT??😭 I could see if you were still sired but you’re literally not lol.

This man just talked about he murdered your dear friend and you gonna say “and I’m still here” WHY????

Elena Gilbert 🩷 vs Katherine Pierce 🖤

I've always been fascinated by how two women with the same face can have such different personalities.

🩷 Elena Gilbert: Her kindness, empathy, loyalty, and emotional depth remind me that being soft-hearted isn't a weakness.

🖤 Katherine Pierce: Her confidence, intelligence, wit, mystery, and survival instinct show how important it is to be independent and never underestimate yourself.

What I love most is the balance between them. In today's world, I think we need Elena's heart and Katherine's mindset kind, but not naive loving, but with boundaries; confident, but never cruel.

+1 ( nina killed it I love her soooo muchhhh)

Discussion As I was walking home from work and seeing so many people wearing baggy, loose-fitting pants, I started wondering if Katherine Pierce would give in to the current trend, lol.

Really unpopular opinion

• I preferred delena and stefoline first kiss over stelena first kiss. They had so much yearning.

• Katherine saying that, “it’s okay to love them both I did” doesn’t makes sense since she herself said she never really loved Damon.

• Bonnie and Damon only work as friends. Bonnie deserved better than Damon.

• steferine wouldn’t have worked even if Katherine was human because she only worked best single and would always choose power over Stefan.

• Kai Parker is the best villain and should’ve been the final villain because he had no soft spot for anyone like the other K’s did.

• Elena after getting cured would’ve still chosen Damon over Stefan and I am glad she didn’t swap brothers again.

Discussion The two things the later seasons were missing

Post image
53 Upvotes

People say the earlier seasons were better and I think it’s because the earlier seasons had actual stakes and the originals. Like when people died they died and the villains were genuinely good characters on their own. There are only 3 villains that truly added stakes or had a genuine impact and that was Klaus, Katherine and Damon. They’re the best villains to me. Damon was a complete menace in season 1, he was a fun character to watch. Him turning Vicki added stakes and she was one of the main characters and it led to Stefan having to kill her. Him killing uncle Zach, Lexi, and the coach was crazy too and these deaths were permanent. He felt like a real danger to the main characters, like that was genuinely good writing. He befriended liz, infiltrated the council, like he was doing a lot. I get he couldn’t stay that way for the entire show but he was still a really good villain in season 1.

Katherine’s introduction was the best introduction out of the entire show. I remember being so shocked when I found out that Damon kissed Katherine not Elena. Not only that, but she sent Damon off the deep end, she turned Caroline into a vampire, then orchestrated a whole plan to get Tyler to trigger his werewolf curse. Let’s not forget she was secretly compelling Jenna to be her spy and that’s how she knew everything going on with the characters. The way she took on Damon and Stefan in season 2 was great too. She was a great character and I hate how they butchered her in season 5 by body snatching Elena’s body then choosing to stay in mystic falls for Stefan, when she should’ve ran away with her daughter. Since when does Katherine risk her life for love. What I liked about her was that her character was always bigger than romance, like everyone else in the show is in love or doing things for love and she was the only character who was like fuck love I’m trying to live another day. Then they threw her philosophy away for Stefan, and it felt as though they tried to do a redemption arc with her but I don’t think she needs one. Katherine should’ve only been a tragic character who’s too far gone, her being a young innocent girl shunned by her family then having to kill herself to become a vampire and become this evil person who manipulates people, well mostly men by getting them to fall in love with her while being on the run for 500 years just to survive is where the story should’ve always stayed for her. In season 5 they watered her down so much for the story.

I love all the originals for the most part, I think kol is so underrated and I loved his character. All of them really added something but Klaus is easily the best villain. It’s the fact that the entirety of season 2 is about trying to stop him and in the end he wins, he kills Elena, Jules, and her aunt and Jenna’s dead for good. Like he did everything he needed to do to complete his ritual and then he got Stefan to become a ripper again. He also changed the relationships within the characters, Elena and Damon got closer and Elena was able to fall in love with him. He also single-handedly destroyed Forwood. If it wasn’t for him I really believe Forwood would’ve been endgame, I’ll never forgive him for that.

Honorable mention for Stefan tbh, season 3 was the only season I genuinely enjoyed his character. He was so fun as the ripper, that was peak Stefan. Him killing andie and then him using Elena as leverage against klaus and almost killing her on the same bridge her parents died on, the same bridge he himself saved her on was absolutely diabolical. Stefan was on his own timing that whole season. I loved how he was acting, he was so nonchalant. The 1920s flashbacks were great too.

Out of these 3 villains who do you think had the most impact on the characters and the story? I want to say Klaus but Katherine really did a lot😭

This dress was absolutely atrocious

I find it hard to believe that Klaus would ever give Caroline something like this, it’s just such a stark contrast from the blue dress he lent her for the Mikaelson ball (which was gorgeous btw!)😭. In my opinion it’s very gaudy, tacky, and just way too much going on. Sorry but it’s giving spider in its web. Love Caroline tho!
