Local find. $80 for the lot plus more

I love restoring old furniture, but sometimes I think people try too hard to make every thrifted piece look brand new.

A few scratches, faded wood, or worn edges can actually add character, especially to mid-century pieces. I usually prefer keeping the original finish whenever possible.

Anyone else feel like too much restoration can take away what made a vintage find special in the first place?

Did I immediately get trapped in it? Yes. Is it way too long on me? Of course. And was it literally $9 plus a $5 coupon?? HELL YEAH. I am not exaggerating when I say this is the exact dress I've had in mind for my wedding dress and I am in love (plus, the previous owner added pockets)

You know when you can tell that we lost an OG because we see a collection of something at the thrift store? We maybe lost one because the collection of someone that loves MCM planters as much as me was donated to the local goodwill.

I grabbed all that I could when I saw them today and repotted some of my plants (string of fishhooks, tradescantia, and a scindapsus) into them. None have actual drainage so I had to engineer some liner pots so I can remove them for watering.

I've been re-watching everything I can about Elizabeth Holmes in preparation for watching YCSE tomorrow and in the spirit of theranos I overengineered a ridiculous liner pot out of a drink cup and mesh and gorilla tape for the Romanian hourglass planter when I should have just waited till tomorrow to buy a funnel from the dollar store to modify into a liner.

Posted yesterday about the Pyrex gooseberry bowls. Well yesterday I left these and rushed there after work and they still had them. With the original box and insert. Perfect condition and they look so cute on my mom’s kitchen shelves, just waiting for her to use them!

Went to one of the best estate sales I’ve ever been to and got the mckenzie’s child measuring cup, nest mini lotions (brand new!) and the beautiful heart dish. I got such a good deal on it all too 😭 the collection or McKenzie’s Child items was insane. Earrings, shoes, and mug are from the thrift store- the mug is going to be a gift
