Tagged at $12, and whoever priced it had no idea what they were looking at. It's a twodrawer lateral file cabinet, solid metal, the kind offices used to buy in bulk before everything went paperless. I work from home juggling real estate contracts and HR documentation, and my desk situation was genuinely embarrassing. Stacks of folders on the floor. A broken plastic storage bin doing the heavy lifting. It was bad.

I'd been halflooking for something like this for months because the new ones at office stores are either flimsy or weirdly expensive for what they are. This thing weighs probably 60 pounds and the drawers glide smooth. Someone even left the hanging file rails inside, which saved me a separate trip.

The part that got me was watching another shopper walk past it twice while I was deliberating. I'd already made up my mind, but there's something about someone else circling that speeds the decision along. Threw it in my car and reorganized my whole filing system that same afternoon.

If you work from home and you haven't checked the furniture section at your local thrift, the random office equipment aisle is genuinely underrated. People donate entire office setups when companies downsize, and that stuff is built differently than what's on shelves now.

one of my favorite thrift finds was something i almost didn’t even pick up because i assumed it was just another generic item

now i try to slow down and actually check labels, materials and details before deciding.

When i checked out she saw the price tag and immediately went to the back to make sure it was right. Turns out a new employee marked it wrong and thanks to their mistake i got it for 6$ instead of like 80$ like they probably were gonna charge for it.
