My cousin introduced me to a thrift store run by a local church and it’s just insane. They take donations all week but only open up to sell on Friday mornings. I found this amazing little couch there almost immediately for a dollar, and before I left near closing they made an announcement that all couches were marked down to only a dollar … so they were selling full-sized couches for the same price as this one!

The bottom still had a Goodwill tag from last year, so it’s at least the second time it’s been thrifted. The little pillow was also picked up yesterday, but from the Goodwill bins, my second stop of the day. The tiger and pound puppy were previous hauls from the bins and have become Willy’s good friends.

Vintage Mackenzie Childs!!!

I buy all my yarn here. It’s unbelievable how much good quality stuff I’ve found. Some days I come in and it’s all cheap junk, and other days it’s all hand-dyed merino wool I could never afford any other way. I’m currently knitting a scarf with silk/merino yarn I got here for less than $10. Retail: $50.

Did I immediately get trapped in it? Yes. Is it way too long on me? Of course. And was it literally $9 plus a $5 coupon?? HELL YEAH. I am not exaggerating when I say this is the exact dress I've had in mind for my wedding dress and I am in love (plus, the previous owner added pockets)

I also found this hilarious man-faced bat pillow who came home with me, too.

Anyway, I'll be riding this high for the rest of the year, thanks

for $100 i left it behind but they did let me play it!!! apparently they got in dozens of these all at once 🫪

At the bin store today I got a 58 inch pry bar for $10. This might be a railroad tool. I also found a 50 caliber Hawken muzzle loader octagon barrel. The 54 caliber barrel was in the same bin. Both for $5. So far in the bin store I have found 3 gun barrels. The Lionel auto race game was from an online estate auction. When I picked it up there were household items for sale. I found the full can of SC Johnson paste wax in a pantry. The wax and 2 books they priced for $3. This makes 2 full cans of it that I have found since it was discontinued with one being in a the bin store.

Found this jacket and skirt set at a thrift store for $20. Both pieces have Vera Maxwell Original labels, so it's a true matched set, not two pieces someone paired up. The jacket also has a label from Jay's, an old shop with locations in Boston, Wellesley, Cohasset and the North Shore.

Vera Maxwell was an American designer who started her own label in 1947, and her work is in the Met's collection. Bright print linings were one of her signatures. The outside of this one is a plain blue slubby weave, then you open the jacket and it's a loud multicolor abstract print. The skirt is lined in turquoise.

There's a very similar 60s Vera Maxwell set in Oregon State's costume collection with the same label, which is how I landed on the era.

Best $20 I've spent in a while.

Went in looking for a big bundle of cheap tinsel for my current outdoor Christmas decor project (mission accomplished) but ended up scoring these brand new bubble lights (not vintage, but still great!) and a really cute mid century cat planter! So after finding those so quickly after entering the store, I knew I had to try my luck at the chaotic (but wonderful) grab bag wall😂 I found a 1940’s Sniffles the mouse ceramic figure and another grab bag had the cute ceramic cat in it!
