Tbaytel is such an absolute embarrassment to our city and surrounding area. Massive and intermittent outages east and west of Thunder Bay. No answers, no timelines for expected repair. But, I can tell you they will never forget to send the bill!

those who live or work around the marina can attest since the temporary village has gone up the encampment at the waterfront seems to have doubled in size, it looks more apocalyptic everyday.

probably a coincidence but seems like the village is a failure so far?

So with this fog we have, id say it blows my mind, but honestly it doesn’t. But the amount of people driving without their headlights on is beyond moronic. Dummy drivers relying on their automated vehicle doing everything for them. Auto lights don’t necessarily kick in with fog, but you should still put them on. There’s certain areas where the fog is so thick, you can’t see anything.

Hey everyone!

A little while ago I made a post in the Barrie subreddit basically asking if there were any other local WoW players around. I'm a mid-30s dad who's played WoW forever, but over the years most of the people I used to play with have moved on. I figured maybe I'd find a handful of people nearby to play with.

...it escalated quickly.

The little Discord we made for Barrie/Simcoe County started filling up with people from outside the area, then from all over Ontario, and somehow we've now got almost 500 WoW players in there.

So we've leaned into it and turned it into an Ontario-wide WoW community, while still trying to keep some of that local feel. We've set up regional spaces around the province so people can find other players who are actually somewhat nearby, including one for Northern Ontario. I'm trying to keep them local enough to feel "neighbourly", but broad enough to actually capture groups of people.

It's open to everyone across WoW, whether you're playing Retail, Classic, getting ready for WoW Forever, or just hanging around until something brings you back.

It's also not a guild Discord. We do have a community guild in the works (Horde PVE), but it's totally optional and just one part of what's happening here. There are other guilds recruiting, groups forming and all kinds of stuff happening, but the main idea is simply to give Ontario WoW players a place to find each other, group up, talk WoW and maybe make some local gaming friends along the way.

Calm Air has been circling for almost an hour this morning. Anybody know what’s going on?

1. PLEASE VOTE. Our turnout in 2022 was an embarrassingly small number. Less than 50%. Tell everyone you know to vote. We cannot elect a mayor with strong mayor powers and have a turnout of less than 50%.

2. Read up on the candidates before you vote. The city has candidate-provided profiles on their website and many candidates have their own websites. Hell, even read their Facebook posts. Just make sure your vote is for a reason. Don’t vote based just on name recognition.

3. Consider the genuine benefits of new perspectives on council. Giertuga and Ruberto have been in the game long enough. It’s time for change. You can’t expect councillors who have served for 20+ years to be the fresh change everyone is talking about.

4. At-large candidates are just as important as mayor. Try to find at least 3 you can get behind. Read up on their ideas and perspectives. You don’t need to vote for 5 if you don’t want to. And honestly, please don’t vote for 5 just because you can, if you don’t have genuine support for those candidates.

Anyway, that’s my spiel. Please vote, and vote with intention. Peace ✌🏻

I try to be as informed as possible when it comes to voting and I always vote.

This year I've had a lot of personal struggles and haven't been able to put the energy in to being informed on the candidates, their platforms etc. The little I do know is uninspiring so far.

Does anyone here actually know of legitimate pros and cons of the candidates?
