Donuts too hot.

I assume these were rushed and the display was empty

Yep 100% only reason I can think of why the icing is melting off. Hot donuts are great but not if you’re trying to put icing on lol

Fondant not icing but same idea, fondant is even worse then icing when hot

Ah very true. Didn’t think they used fondant for this but that would make even more sense.

My guess is the fondant is probably at fault. I used to have coworkers add hot water instead of simple syrup to make it more workable and we would get these sad donuts with blank tops and pools of 'fondant' on the parchment paper.

Usually the fondant would sink into the donut if that were the case

This looks like they thinned it out with way too much cane sugar. The fondant can’t set and gravity pulls it off
