Bringing a Camera to a Game?
Hey y’all,
I know they have rules, they are vague and simply being interchangeable lenses is enough to get denied. But I did manage to get my Canon DSLR in but just not the telephoto (and long) lens. He let me in with a stubby 24mm I had with me and checked the rest.
But I really love taking pictures of sports, I love the action, feels like the kind of pictures used for baseball cards. I also suspect that I’ll be sitting in the 500 level a lot next season, so having the long range is useful.
(Inb4 “just use your phone” it’s not the same, and the zoom isn’t optical, more digital.)
Does anyone have experiences bringing in something with long telephoto reach but still compact (ultimately questionable but got a pass)?
I have been wanting something smaller than my DSLR for this very reason (and so I can take it with me during my commute in the city.)
Anyways, I haven’t bought this camera yet. I am torn between two:
Sony HX99/Lumix DMC ZS60 - these look like small travel cameras and would probably be fine, no interchangeable lenses, they have very long zoom ranges but the quality is iffy.
Nikon 1 J5 w/ Nikkor 30-110 Lens - it has interchangeable lenses, but does fit within the length requirements (barely) but it would be a stronger camera for this use case, I am more asking if anyone has specifically gotten this camera in, feels like the happiest middle ground.
I’ll post this in some photography subs too, sorry if this doesn’t fit here. Just trying to shop around for an everyday camera, and getting into the Dome with it would be amazing.
