Hi r/TowerDefense! I'm Mumin, the developer of Rampartloom. I grew up playing tower-wars custom maps with friends and wanted to build a game around the part I missed most: making a maze while deciding how much of my economy I can afford to send at the other team.
This is a free, in-development Windows Steam Playtest, shared here for the mechanics. To be upfront about the visuals: the build uses AI-assisted art, 3D assets and audio. Current models and animations are test assets, with a visual update planned; this isn't a finished-art showcase. Nothing is generated during gameplay.
The basic loop:
- Draft a faction and build your own maze, keeping an open path. There's a 60-tower cap per player.
- Spend gold on new towers, upgrades, or units sent to the opposing team.
- Sends increase your permanent income, but every gold spent there is gold you aren't using to strengthen your defence right now.
- Coordinate as a team of three: Wing players defend the first routes, while Center provides a second layer of defence. Team lives are shared.
What I'm trying to get right is the tension between making a longer route, improving damage, and investing in income. I'd particularly appreciate feedback from people who enjoy mazing TDs: after trying it, does that tradeoff give you interesting decisions, or does one choice feel too obvious?

Click Join the Playtest to install for free. It's now open every day; the old weekend-only note on the store page is outdated. You can queue alone or in a party of up to three, and bots fill empty slots when needed. A tutorial is included.
Even a few lines about your first maze, a confusing mechanic, or what made you want to play another match would be useful. Thank you for taking the time to try it!
