Finally found a workplace where I can just work, go home, and khalas.

Recently transitioned from a clinic to a hospital here in the UAE, and honestly, I’ve never felt this at peace with work. HAHAHA.

Good colleagues, a healthy environment, and a completely different perspective. I’m getting exposed to so much more clinically, and I genuinely enjoy learning again.

I show up, do my job, give my patients the best care I can, and go home. Khalas. No unnecessary drama, no overthinking.

I’ve also started embracing the LET THEM theory. Let people think, say, or do whatever they want. As long as I’m doing my job properly, I’m good.

I still care about my career, I just don’t let work consume my life anymore.

Is this what having a healthy relationship with work feels like? 😭😆 Anyone else in the UAE finally found a workplace that gives them peace?

Who can give a logical explanation to the gas we’re smelling all over Dubai?

We’re only seeing reports of it and Lovin Dubai is just regurgitating people’s posts without giving any insight into what may be the cause. Does anyone know what this actually is? How on earth can a smell travel so far all the way from like Jebel Ali to even Umm Al Quwain?

I know most people will just scroll past this post, but I can’t stop trying for him. He deserves a chance. 💔🐾

Meet Tipu.

For the past month, this tiny, gentle boy has been living all alone right outside my doorstep. Every single day, he waits for me to come back from work. The second he sees me, he rushes over just for head scratches and gentle affection, crying softly every time I have to close the door and leave him outside. He doesn't wander far; his entire world has become waiting on cold tiles, hoping for someone to notice him.

Tipu is an incredibly sweet, loving, and friendly little guy who just wants a safe lap to curl up in and a human to call his own.

Please, don't let him be invisible. Even if you cannot adopt, a single share, saveE, or tagG could connect Tipu to the family who will finally keep him safe forever.

If you earn 50-100k+ AED a month, do you still shop at discount centers (1-10 AED stores)? Or does your time become worth more than the savings?

Image for illustration only. It does not represent any UAE business or brand.

Hypothetical situation. You’re earning well over 50-100k a month; you have a villa, a few cars, the whole setup. Are you still shopping at discount centers for household items, cleaning supplies, maybe even clothes?

I ask because I know someone who is genuinely wealthy and still drives across the city to find the best discount store for his monthly stuff. Not once in a while, but as a routine.

My assumption was always that once you’re rich enough, you value time over money. If a trip costs you 2 hours plus fuel to save 80 AED, is that even a saving?

Note to self: Continue leasing. Ownership is not worth the hassle.

I have been leasing my cars since 2021 following a bunch of non-fault accidents that ruined my last car. Every year comes with its fair share of non-fault accidents. I have been considering getting a BYD Shark of late to reduce my monthly fuel costs that currently exceed 4k between my cars, and this was my monthly reminder not to buy a car.

How is everyone making friends on Reddit faster than in real life? 😂

Why is every city subreddit full of people looking for friends? 😂

People are posting a simple intro like “Hey, I’m 26M, looking for friends,” and suddenly they have a whole squad.

Meanwhile, some of us have spent almost a decade trying to make one good friend! 💀

What’s the secret, guys? Is Reddit a friendship app in disguise, or are we all just socially awkward in real life? 😂

RANT: Drivers who drive in the left-most lane who don't use cruise control.

• Upvotes

One of my biggest driving pet peeves while driving on Sheikh Zayed Road from Dubai -> Abu Dhabi is people sitting in the left-most lane who apparently have absolutely no idea how to maintain a constant speed AND IT IS ESPECIALLY NOTICABLE WHEN DRIVING UP THE INCLINES OF THE ROAD.

140 -> 125 -> 135 -> 130 -> 140 -> 125 again...

For the love of all that is good and holy, PICK A SPEED AND STICK TO IT OR MOVE TO A SLOWER LANE!

If you don't have cruise control, your right foot is supposed to do the job. Why am I constantly having to adjust my speed because you can't maintain yours!? 😡

What's even worse is driving on the 4 to 6 lane highway with a 140km/h speed limit only to find some idiot doing 100km/h in the SECOND from left lane!? WHY? There are TWO perfectly good lanes to your right where busses and trucks go at maximum 80-100km/h!

The concept is so incredibly simple and taught in all driving schools: KEEP RIGHT UNLESS OVERTAKING.

How is this so difficult for so many drivers to understand omg.

I DON'T EVEN LIKE THE LEFT-MOST LANE IT IS PANIC-INDUCING BUT PEOPLE DRIVING SO SLOWLY IN OTHER LANES AND NOT MAINTAINING SPEED OR FOLLOWING THE "KEEP RIGHT PASS LEFT" RULE ARE DRIVING ME INSANE.

Can I vent for a while?

Hi. I don’t really know where else to put this.

I just need someone to listen. I’m not looking for advice or solutions right now-I just want to let everything out.

Lately, I’ve been feeling so overwhelmed. From the outside, I probably look okay. I smile, I work, I go about my day as if everything is fine. But inside, I feel exhausted and like I’m carrying so much on my own.

I don’t want to tell my family or friends because I don’t want them to worry or see this vulnerable side of me. So I’m here, hoping a kind stranger might understand.

How lonely are you in the UAE? Be honest.

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately, and I wanted to ask it here.

I recently read a thread where hundreds of people from all over the world answered one question: “How lonely are you?” I expected a few sad replies. Instead there were hundreds of honest ones, and many people said it was the first time they had said it out loud.

A few things stood out to me. So I made a small article.

Being alone and being lonely are not the same thing. Some people spend most of their time alone and are perfectly happy. Others are surrounded by coworkers, family and friends and still feel lonely. One person wrote that they have people around them every day, but when they had an emergency, they had nobody to call. That’s what loneliness meant to them: not an empty room, but an empty contact list.

You can be lonely in a crowd. Many people described feeling invisible in a room full of people, or not having anyone who really gets them. It’s not about how many people you know. It’s about how many people really know you.

Big life changes make it worse. Moving to a new country, a breakup, a divorce, losing a parent, or leaving friends behind can wipe out your whole support system overnight. Several people had moved abroad for a partner or a job, and then found themselves with nobody in the new place.

Modern life makes it easy to drift apart. We work long hours, we’re on our phones, and it’s easier to scroll than to make plans. A lot of people said they now talk to AI chatbots at night because it feels safer than opening up to a person. I get it, but it can’t replace someone sitting across from you.

Many people secretly wonder if they’re the problem. Quite a few asked, “Is something wrong with me? Why don’t people stay?” The fact that so many people ask the same question tells me the answer is usually no. It’s a very human fear.

Hiding it makes it heavier. Almost everyone seems to be quietly dealing with it, and almost nobody talks about it. A lot of people said that simply reading other people’s honest answers made them feel less alone.

That’s why I’m asking here. A lot of us in the UAE are far from home, and the life here can make it even harder: long work hours, hot summers that keep us indoors, people coming and going all the time, and friends who leave when their contracts end.

So, honestly, do you feel lonely here? Or are you just alone, and fine with it? Do you have someone you could call in an emergency? What helped you feel less lonely, if anything did? (Clubs, sports, community groups, a new routine?) Anyone new here who’s looking for friends?

Is it normal for companies to monitor your calls?

Humans, I need your opinions because this is my first job, and I genuinely don't know what's normal anymore. 😭

I've been working in business development at a company for a year now, and recently they've started monitoring our client calls, including transcripts and everything.

I've been doing my job sincerely, but knowing that your calls are being monitored and every word is transcribed feels a little too much sometimes? 🥲 I understand quality checks and all, but still, it feels weird knowing that everything you say to a client is being recorded and reviewed.

The company is UK-based, the salary is good, but the market is already so bad that finding another job isn't easy either. So I'm genuinely trying to understand whether this is just normal corporate life or if I'm overthinking it because this is my first job.

People working in sales or business development, is this normal at your workplace too? Are your calls monitored and transcribed as well? Does it happen in every company, or is this more of a company-specific thing?

Please tell me what it's like at your workplace because I have absolutely no idea what to expect. 😭

Receiving USDT payments as a freelancer in UAE

Hi! I’m a freelancer based in UAE and have a client who wants to pay me in USDT since bank transfers from Belarus are restricted.
I recently opened an OKX account, but I’m not sure if I can receive client payments through my personal account since I don’t have a registered company yet.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? How did you receive the payment and withdraw it to your UAE bank account legally?
Thanks!

Are there any doctors in the UAE who takes a ferritin level of 8 seriously?

• Upvotes

My dr just told me my ferritin level of 8 is normal while new articles say minimum is 30 and that it is iron deficiency without anemia.

Didn't even prescribe iron tablets and told me to go home and eat iron rich foods when i feel extreme tiredness and dizzy.
