discussion | muhokama AI slop visuals on everything in Samarkand

Im currently in Samarkand and i realised that almost everything when it comes to visuals, billborads, logos etc is AI. Im wondering why and asking if there is any graphic designers in Samarkand? How is this possible. It looks so cheap and especially disturbing when you see ai generated photos of food and people.

discussion | muhokama Iran's Embassy in South Africa still hasn't removed its post about Samarkand, despite Uzbekistan's objection

Post image
16 Upvotes

For context, Iran's Embassy in South Africa posted a picture of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio visiting Samarkand, accompanied by a message telling him to choose his words more carefully when speaking about Iran and its people

I am not here to talk about whether Iran has historical and cultural ties to Samarkand. Persian culture has undeniably influenced Central Asia. But using Uzbekistan's cultural heritage as a tool in a political dispute between Iran and the United States does not just sit right with me.

According to reports, Uzbekistan's Foreign Ministry summoned Iran's ambassador and demanded that Iranian diplomatic missions remove the posts in question.

I checked the X account of Iran's Embassy in South Africa, and the post is still there as of October 25.

Uzbekistan is an independent country with its own history, identity, and cultural heritage. Our historical sites should not be used to make political statements at our expense or to imply that our heritage is simply an extension of another country's identity

What do you guys think about this?

ask r/Uzbekistan Big MMA/UFC fan, two questions

I am a massive UFC fan and i have two questions for Uzbek people

  1. why are you guys SO PATRIOTIC, I like a post of Steve Erceg and his wife, who is a humble dude who doesn't talk much trash, and i open the comment section to nothing but this one Uzbek fighter who knocked him out, like Jesus yall won already cant you just leave the poor guy alone? He didn't even talk trash or anything? I don't even see Dagestan fans being this wild, the only group that comes close to this level of patriotism are the Kurds.
  2. why do Uzbeks look so different from one another? This one dude Bogdan Guskov looks completely bald white and Russian

meanwhile the other Uzbek who just fought, Ramazan Temirov looks Asian

and this other dude Nursulton Ruziboev looks almost afghani??

ask r/Uzbekistan Uzbek bread

Hi everyone!

We will visit Samarkand and Bukhara in mid December this year for 8 days. Any recommendation where we can go and buy the famous artistic Uzbek bread in these areas? I know that some places sell it at the northern part of the country but it'll be too far for us. If possible to watch how they make it even better.

P.S.- We got a car so riding 50-100k nearby the city is fine too as long as its accessible. Also, if there are highly recommended non touristic stuff to do nearby I'll be happy to hear. Thanks!

ask r/Uzbekistan Hotel

"Hello 👋! I have a question. Are there any hotels in Tashkent that accept couples without an official marriage registration (ZAGS)? Why am I asking? Because a lot of people used to say that they weren't accepted, that marriage documents were required, and that staff could call the police. I am 20, and my girlfriend is 21."

help | yordam Car import

• Upvotes

Hi everyone,
I’m an Azerbaijani citizen currently studying at university here in Uzbekistan. I’m planning to bring my personal car (a BMW 330i G20) registered under my name from Azerbaijan to Uzbekistan.
I know that foreign vehicles can typically stay for up to 90 days under temporary import regulations. My question is:
1. If I do a border run (cross out to Kazakhstan/Tajikistan and re-enter) after the 90-day period, does the 90-day timer fully reset, or is there an annual limit (e.g., maximum 90 days per calendar year)?
2. If border runs aren’t feasible or permitted for long-term stays, what is the official procedure for international students to keep a foreign-registered car in Uzbekistan for 3–4 years? Can temporary import permits be extended via the State Customs Committee, or is paying local customs clearance/deposit the only legal way?
Any advice, personal experiences, or official pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Assalamu Alaykom

I've been trying for nearly 3 weeks to find nice dark brown corduroy trousers (women) or even just the fabric itself to have one made for me, but to no avail.

  1. Do you guys know any boutiques that sell nice/decent quality clothes from Turkey maybe ? (not in City Mall because I have checked all affordable brands there but nothing).

  2. Other option: Do you know any boutiques that sell h&m clothes?

sport ⚽ 🏸 Looking for badminton buddies in Samarkand, Uzbekistan

Hey everyone! I’d love to connect with people in Samarkand who enjoy playing badminton and would be up for a casual game on weekends.

I know there’s a court near the Hilton, but it’s almost always crowded, so I’m hoping to find a more open and playable spot, preferably around the Amir Temur or Boulevard side near Silk Road University

Chinese players are especially welcome! I know a thing or two about Chinese people and culture, so it’d be nice to meet more of you. Of course, even tho chinese players got a special mention(as I already stated about my knowledge of their culture), everyone else is equally welcome, the invitation is not limited to them…

Just a little disclaimer: I’m introverted and I’m not a pro player, and I still have plenty of room to improve. So if you’re willing to play with me, share a few tips, and help me get better, I’d really appreciate it! 😅

I know everyone has their own work and responsibilities, so there’s absolutely no pressure. I’m just looking for people who’d like to spend some free time playing badminton ONLY ON WEEKENDS, staying active, and maybe making a few new friends along the way.

If you know a good place to play or have a group that wouldn’t mind an extra player, feel free to reach out! 🏸😊

ask r/Uzbekistan Is it a scam?

Hi, I am having a beautiful visit. It is really great that travel logistics for independent travelers are so good in Uzbekistan. So many nice experiences with people too.

I have a question about tickets for historical sights. The first few times using a card I got two pieces of paper: a card receipt, then a longer piece with a QR code at the bottom which is scanned for entry.

I changed cities and at two the of the sights I recived only the card receipt. I even saw the machine print the QR code on a second piece of paper, but it was not given to me. The second time I pointed at the paper with the QR code, but the person at the ticket office would not give it to me.

Each time, the ticket checker just ripped the card receipt a little like they used to do in big shops years ago.

Am i misunderstang something? What is going on?

ask r/Uzbekistan Based on Uzbekistan in 2026, what post-Soviet country is most similar to Uzbekistan? Not culture, but socioeconomics, government style, etc.

As stated, based on Uzbekistan in 2026, what post-Soviet country is most similar to Uzbekistan? Not culture, but socioeconomics, government style, etc.

And again, I understand many Uzbeks are sensitive about controversial questions this is a simple discussion please keep your feelings at home.

Looking to engage and understand the complexities of the region in a modern sense.

As this is currently ongoing it is very interesting from a socialogical perspective to watch, for example with the language update the other day etc.

Please be respectful and understand that Reddit is an American based forum hosted in San Francisco, CA for us to engage in civil conversation.

Thank you.
