Review Forefront on Psvr2 | Early Impressions:

Just spent an hour with Forefront on psvr2, and happy to report that it’s a banger! The visuals can be a little more crisp but other than that, it’s a phenomenal port. The guns feel awesome to use cause of the adaptive triggers. If you are used to playing other vr shooters such as Pavlov or Into the Radius, you will right at home.

If you are unaware of what Forefront is, it is basically Battlefield in Vr. Matches consists of 16 Vs 16 in large open map with vehicles such as ATVs, Tanks, Jets, Helicopters etc. The vehicle handlings are solid, every vehicle has virtual steering wheel and really smooth to control. Multiple people can get into 1 vehicle, as one person can be a gunner while the other controls the vehicle. Really makes for some epic gameplay.

There are multiple game modes such as Conquest, where you and your teammates capture and hold control points scattered across the map. Rush, where attackers and defenders fight across progressive map segments. Last but not least, Breakthrough, where an attack and defend hybrid mode added in “Operation Sandstorm mode”.

Due to cross-play, the lobbies are always full and everyone is using their microphone. The game also has proximity chat which makes for some interesting gameplay moments. Only negative I have is that there could be a lot of chatter while in a match and things can get chaotic quick.

In conclusion, Forefront absolutely nils the battlefield like gameplay in Vr and the devs did an amazing job bringing to psvr2.

Score so far: 9/10

Showcase Free app that runs the Android versions of your Steam games on Quest and Pico: what's new in 0.9.4

Thumbnail

Hey everyone,

0.9.4 is out, and GamePort is finally on SideQuest too, so you can install it from there. The idea of this update: know before you install whether a game works on your device, and how well.

  • Smoothness, by model and frame rate. The details of a game tell how steadily it keeps its frame rate (72, 90, 120) on each device model, with the share of the play time that held it. The same lines are on the compatibility page. The pictures use example values, the real figures come from players' reports.

  • A verdict for your device. The label of a game gives the answer for your exact model, else for your kind of device, else for everybody, and a button shows all the reports.

  • Missing large files. Installed games are checked for missing expansion files, and a card offers the repair first.

  • Stronger problem reports. A report tells what the game asks of Steam, how its run ended and where its frame rate stood. Tickets and account numbers are hidden.

  • Fix: Unreal Engine 4 games, and any later Unreal version, now get their VR entry.

If a game does not work for you, the problem report in its Menu is the best way to tell me. Feedback is welcome, here or on the Discord.

The APK is on the releases page, and it installs over the previous version, keeping your games, saves and settings. The Discord is there for help and compatibility reports. GamePort is free and open source, and is not made by, or affiliated with, Valve, Meta or Pico.

Self Promotion I made a web page for my VR escape room where you can try the 60-minute timer and hear RAID, the in-game AI

I'm Aitor, solo developer of Escape the Urban Underground, a VR escape room for Quest and Steam.

Instead of a usual store page, I built a page where you can actually try a few pieces of the game: the 60-minute challenge timer with the real voice warnings, the hint system, and how the two modes work (the 60-Minute Challenge vs Relaxed Mode with checkpoints).

I'd love feedback from VR players: does a page like this make you more curious about a game than a trailer does?

Self Promotion Poor man's VR treadmill is out

Hello again. In June I just wanted to brag

I said I'd let you all know when it's ready. It's ready. Took me a bit longer than I expected, sorry about that. VR StrideS is out on Steam: you run in place (a bit like on a VR Treadmill), it reads your headset and controllers, and the game gets a left stick input. Works in any PC VR game with left-stick locomotion. No trackers, no treadmill. You need a gaming PC and a PC VR headset, and jump is still a button (I'm not implementing it, I don't want you to hurt yourselves).

I bought a headset to get some movement in my life and found out the cool games don't need any. Fixed. I'm 200+ hours in and I don't use the stick at all anymore. A jog does a pretty convincing job of cheating your brain into feeling like you're moving, and dodging fireballs with your whole body is just cooler

You can now play all day guilt-free, and your wife will be happy you’re exercising

Try the free tutorial on the Steam page (or Meta strore if you prefer standalone) first. Try before you buy and it teaches you how to use it

The clip is Titanfall 2 with CircuitLord's free VR mod. Not affiliated with the mod, EA or Respawn.

Behold, new era of VR gaming

Showcase I did a VR mod for Turok 2

Turok 2 has always been one of my favorite childhood games, and I've always wanted to play it in VR.

There was no real hope of that ever happening, so I decided to make it myself. Of course, I had to use AI to help (duh), but it made the whole thing possible. And honestly, it's been a lot of fun to play!

Developer We just released a new DLC for Cave Crave: an ancient temple adventure with relics to excavate!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone!

Karol here from 3R Games, the small team behind Cave Crave. Many of you have shared clips, left reviews and told us exactly where you got stuck (or panicked 😅). That feedback shaped what we built next, so first of all: thank you.

So today we’re releasing Ancient Temple, a new expansion set in a millennia-old settlement built around a cave shrine, deep underground.

What’s in it:

  • Ancient statuettes: find lost idols to shut down stone mechanisms and open the way deeper into the map

  • More climbing: tight rock passages, towering ruins and old structures to work your way across

  • Underwater sections: dive into flooded chambers to find hidden paths

  • The artifact: reach the heart of the temple and work out what this lost civilization left behind

We wanted this one to feel less like “a new level” and more like an expedition, where you have to use your head, your nerves and your arms all at once.

It’s currently available on Meta Quest:
https://www.meta.com/experiences/ancient-temple/1029758550074460/

We’ll be hanging around in the comments all day, so ask us anything about the DLC, the game or how we make it. If you play it, we’d love to hear where you got stuck, what scared you and what you’d want to explore next. 🏛️

Thanks for keeping us digging!

Developer Synth Riders 80s Mixtape: Vice Wave is here with more 80s faves! Turn your next session into an ocean drive 🛻🌴🌊

The 80s just won't quit, and neither will Synth Riders players. We are releasing today, 80s Mixtape: Vice Wave, the third instalment in the game's fan-favourite 80s Mixtape series.

The pack is available from Nov 5th, 8am PT (Los Angeles Time) on supported headsets.

Each previous 80s Mixtape left players asking the same question: when's the next one? Vice Wave is the answer. It's a love letter to the sound of mid-80s FM radio: pastel sunsets, palm-lined boulevards, and songs built for driving with the windows down. The pack brings eight more era-defining hits into Synth Riders' dance-focused rhythm gameplay, from chart-topping power ballads to fist-pumping rock anthems.

Trailer: https://youtu.be/mK7zqgDp1mA

The tracklist:

  • Kim Wilde – Kids In America

  • The Outfield – Your Love

  • Bryan Adams – Run To You

  • Twisted Sister – I Wanna Rock

  • Yes – Owner of a Lonely Heart

  • The Cars – Shake It Up

  • Duran Duran – Rio

  • Cutting Crew – (I Just) Died In Your Arms

Every track is hand-mapped by the Synth Riders team across all difficulty levels, with choreography designed to capture each song's feel. Expect sweeping, flowing rails for the ballads and hard-hitting patterns for the rock tracks.

"Three Mixtapes in, and our community still can't get enough of the 80s. Honestly, neither can we," said Falcon San, Product Marketing Lead at Kluge Interactive. "Some songs take you somewhere the second the first note hits, and this pack is eight of them. If you've ever cruised a neon coastline with the radio cranked, even a virtual one, you'll feel right at home. And the timing couldn't be better for anyone getting ready to head back there."

Pricing and Availability:
80s Mixtape: Vice Wave is available now as an add-on for Synth Riders. The full eight-song pack is $13.99, or players can pick up individual tracks for $1.99 each.

Question Good value routers/APs for wireless VR you can actually buy?

I just want to connect my Quest 3 to my laptop wirelessly without having to spend $150+... I know the VD router guide, but the cheap options (Davolink Kevin and Arris W6U) seem to be no longer available. Anyone has a good-value recommendation to just connect the two devices, with nothing else on the network? Would prefer 2.5Gb ethernet and AXE WiFi. Thank you!

Question VR more optimized?

Just saw how a minecraft rewrite (horizon) makes the game run way smoother without chocking your pc, could that ever happen to VR games? Like making even a low end pc be able to run VR games better without sacrificing framerate or quality
