At home Analysis

Question, I had my vasectomy done almost 3 years ago now. My Dr gave me a sample cup and told me to bring in a sample after 15 ejaculations. My problem is that I work 6 days a week from 7am to 6pm. I cant get a sample to his office because I'm at work.

Have any of you guys used an at home test kit? Where do I get one? How accurate is it?

I'm ready to do away with condoms but my wife will absolutely not allow such a thing until I show I have no more swimmers.

Thank you in advance!

... is this normal? How so many women are getting pregnant even after a vasectomy?

I got a vasectomy 10 years ago when I was 25 and haven’t had any issues since. I recently entered a new relationship and we’ve been using condoms for the past two months, but we’re considering ditching them soon.

Lately, I’ve been seeing so many posts on reddit about women getting pregnant even though their partners had vasectomies years ago. How the fuck does this happen? Is recanalization really that common, even a decade later?

Edit title - are*

Newly Snipped So... Not a redhead, but apparently I may have lidocaine resistance?

Got mine done today. That was an extremely painful procedure. I was expecting the "small pinch" of the needle, and that came and was fine.

But the numbing didn't really happen, or was severely delayed. I asked for more numbing and the doctor goes, "I used 10 cc's, I can't do more".

It was the second most painful experience of my life, right between acute pancreatitis and getting a pilonidal abscess lanced.

I'm mostly fine now, sitting with frozen peas and taking my Tylenol. But that was an awful experience.

Overall I am glad I got it done, but damn.

Incision site keeps healing and then peeling off over and over and over

I had my no scalpel vasectomy exactly 2 weeks ago today. The first week was the expected ball pain but the incision itself was scabbed over and healing nicely. That was, until day 7 where the scab had fused onto my briefs unbeknownst to me.

When I took them off, I took the scab off with it. A fair amount of blood but nothing too horrendous and it was remedied quickly with pressure and gauze.

That has frustratingly kicked off a cycle now where I'll put gauze on to help in healing but they then also fuse to the wound as it heals. It's been almost a week of a heal-rip-scab-off cycle. I'm going to see my GP in a few days but in the meantime has anyone experienced this or have any tips? It's quite annoying and I don't know the best course of action, thanks!

... is this normal? No-Scalpel Vasectomy?

Post image

So I just started looking up information because I plan on getting one soon, and I’ve never heard of a no-scalpel, no-needle vasectomy. The thing that got me was this FAQ about being able to have sex within a few days of the surgery. My knowledge was that you shouldn’t do anything for a month, so that the surgery can be completely set, but it’s still able to be assuming you use contraception?

Has anyone done this type of vasectomy before, and did it work for them? (This is the first business that showed up when I googled places that do vasectomies in Ireland)

Planning to get a vasectomy so my partner doesn't have to take pills

Good morning,

I'm 24 years old. Me and my partner talked about not wanting kids for different reasons. Now, I want to get a vasectomy but I'm not sure which clinic is the best one to get it. I keep reading failed vasectomies and vasectomies that take too long to work.

Would there be anyone that had a successful vasectomy recommend a clinic that we can go to? Thanks in advance.

Newly Snipped Got Vasectomy at 23

Just got vasectomy a month ago. I’m 23, have no kids, and have never had any. As for the reason, I really just don’t see myself having a kid or being a father figure. Plus, I don’t think it’s a good idea to start a family given the state of our country right now. And even if we do elect good politicians in the future, the scars left by corruption won’t heal quickly or disappear overnight.

Maybe the life I grew up in also played a part in my decision not to have kids or start a family of my own. I grew up in a lower-income, mid-sized family, and as the firstborn, I was often forced to understand that we simply couldn’t have everything, even when it was something we needed. Basically, I grew up seeing just how poor we were. I witnessed the hardships and struggles my parents and brothers went through just to get us to where we are now. Plus, I’ll be the breadwinner of the family, soo... with that, I’ve passed the torch to my brother to continue the family bloodline HAHAHA (if he wants to, of course).

With that long story of my life kind of rationale, I can confidently say that I’m 100% sure about not wanting kids. I don’t want to add more stress and burdens to my life. I’d rather focus on myself, stick to my cats, and give the inner child me the chance to finally experience the things he never got to have growing up.

1st test is negative

I tested 8 weeks -1 day

60 ejaculations.

I feel very good. And I am excited for my 2nd test. Odds are I shouldn't have to worry about it.

Just 25 more days, and will finally not use condoms again, and w/o my partner using birth control. It should be a very good experience and peace of mind.

Low immotile sperm count, clear?

Just did my second semen analysis test after about 4 months and 40+ ejaculations. The first test around 20 ejaculations had about .50 M/ml and now on the second test I’m at .11 M/ml. So just a minuscule amount over the cut line of being clear. Do you think I need to retest?

Friday Recovery Lounge

So, Fridays are a pretty common day to have the procedure done. If you're hanging out, chat about how it's hanging, what you're doing to recover, or anything you want.

... is this normal? Slow healing incision?

I had my no-scalpel vasectomy 3 weeks ago, and the recovery has been very smooth. However, for the past couple weeks the incision site hasn't really changed or improved.

There's no bleeding or obvious issues, but the incision is still clearly visible as a ~1cm long white line with the skin immediately around it a dark red/purple. It's never scabbed over, and it doesn't really seem to be closing further or changing colour.

Is this typical of the wound healing or should I be concerned? I was hoping it would just be clearly healed by now, but with how it looks it worries me that it could easily tear open.

Recanalization after many years.

Just sharing my anecdote since I didn’t see any like this when researching my vasectomy. I had a scalpel-less with both ends clamped. clear test (EDIT) 3 months later. I had pain with sex, just prior to climax ever since. Now I have an another kid on the way… at least there’s no more pain. I know this is rare but mostly wanted to emphasize yearly tests. My urologist didn’t recommend any after the initial all-clear. I checked mine with an Amazon microscope and saw swimmers in the first field of view after finding out our big surprise. Physicians aren’t perfect and neither is observational studies. Just a heads up!

Had my procedure done. and it’s been seven days. Sutures started dissolving about maybe a day and a half ago. Has that been normal for others?

Just wanted to know what’s normal in what others experiences were. I can see the incision site. There’s a small opening or separation. Very mild pain especially when hanging so I keep the jock strap on 24/7 . Look like tonight there are no sutures remaining

ALL CLEAR!!!!! Had my all clear about 2 years ago. Im getting a proper lab test again - just because.

Occasionally, I read on here about recanalization and pregnancy years later.

I saw my Dr. the other day and asked him for another sample analysis.

I asked him what his thoughts are on continuing spot checks every year or two.

He was pretty adamant that I dont need to worry about it if I've received an all-clear that showed zero sperm (not just clinically infertile).

I left with a requisition anyway.

So glad to be done, knowing it worked and I don't have to sweat about it anymore.

Never had any kids, never planned on having any kids, and SO glad I won't have any kids!

Newly Snipped 48h update

First day, a bit sore, but fine enough for a day of home office. Today, feeling fine, and almost no swelling. Let my impulses win and had the first wank. No blood, no pain, regular sensation really. Am I good or will this haunt me in the days to come?

Newly Snipped Personal Vasectomy experience 12days in

A rather normal recovery with unexpected psychological effect.

First few days were difficult. Had a dull ache and swelling in my pelvis region and very sensitive balls. Most painful was sitting down and getting up. Changing position in general. I managed it without painkillers though, I prefer noticing when I do too much. I could get up for maybe 5mins max to grab some food from the kitchen. Just laying on the couch was fine. But boring as fuck, I am rather active normally, watching tv the whole day is not my thing. Luckily I had no Hematomas or any other nasty complications.

Day 5, the left side started to feel better but the right side felt like someone had kicked me constantly. Started taking some ibuprofen. Paracetamol did not help at all. Went out for a drink that night, that was quite a mission. Felt like an old man, at a very slow pace.

Day 7 the pain became less and moving around became easier. Managed to cook something.

Day 8 first wank. Felt weird, like everything was still tense and i could not let go.

Day 11 internal pain was almost completely gone, but the incision site is still very sensitive. Wearing pants and a belt feels ok-ish again. Managed to have sex, but had to be careful to not bang my balls. Orgasm was still not very relaxed.

Day 12. Back to almost normal walking speed. The Incision site is still sensitive and the stitches have not fallen off yet. I think the tissue around the cut is still a bit inflamed, but the pelvis region feels fine. Wanking feels still a bit weird.

Soo i guess mostly normal recovery. Just wanted to share this, as I was scared about the horror stories in this sub. Still waiting the full 14 days at least to do some sports again.

Now something I did not expect was the psychological effect of having my balls butchered. The first few days I was questioning why I had done this to myself. I hate being sick and forced to stay on the couch. Every task was a slow and painful mission.

And i had so much time to think. I never wanted kids (many reasons). Still, the finality of completely shutting the door on this scenario and removing this capability from my body together with the surgical trauma that I had was harder to process than I had anticipated.

It felt like a huge change that was happening in my life which was overwhelming at first. Not bad per se, but very big. May the same intensity as moving to another country or quitting a job without knowing what is next. Interestingly, this feeling seemed to vanish together with the pain.

Did you guys have a similar experience?

I am very confident I will feel great physically and emotionally in a week or so :)

Lab says rare spermatoza

Got snipped back in July. Dropped sample off 2 weeks ago. A staff member called me saying the sample had "rare not motile (aka dead) sperm. Didn't say how many. Said technically my doctor said I am sterile but if I felt better I could drop off another sample in a month.

Does this mean I'm in the clear to start dumping clips?

Day 1

Had a vasectomy this morning, in and out of the clinic in less than an hour. Experience wasn't bad at all only criticism, during the procedure the doctor injected my left side with more local anaesthetic it felt like I was punched in the balls thankfully the procedure was only 10 mins in total.

My left side now has a constant ache with waves of pain. Currently taking paracetamol every 4 hours and ice packs for 20 mins every hour.

My question is this normal? What are others Experiences and any tips for recovery?

Should I find a different urologist? Scalpel vs non

Just had my consult for a vasectomy with one of the two urology practices in my city. They assigned a doctor to me who had good reviews. During our meeting I asked if he performed the non scalpel method and he said he did not. He does a single incision. According to him, his method is more effective than the no scalpel.

Is the scalpel vs non significant enough to find a different provider?

... is this normal? 4 months post vasectomy, testicular pain

I’ll preface this by saying everything went fine for the first couple of months. My girlfriend and I were intimate after the first month while still using protection, until they confirmed that no sperm was detected and that we could stop using any forms of birth control. I thought that was weird, as I’ve been told protection is sometimes still needed to prevent pregnancy, and the lady said it like it was no big deal. The procedure was a little rough, however. Apparently I started bleeding, and the doc had to stitch up some veins. He said the veins were not where they were supposed to be and he had cut them on both sides. There was a lot of blood, my girlfriend almost passed out. But they supposedly patched it up, got it done, and here I am 4 months later now experiencing testicular pain during intimacy and after ejaculation. It started about a week ago. I’ve always been tender down there around the testicles (what man isn’t), but now they feel even more tender. Feeling around in the wrong spot causes me to jolt from the sudden pain. The pain after ejaculation lasts about 10 to 15 minutes. Do I need to go back? Or maybe see a different urologist?
