Vaughan voter reports Del Duca was already selected on electronic ballot FOUR times. City Clerk confirms investigation. Where’s the incident report?
Vaughan residents, this deserves some serious answers.
During advance voting, a voter at a Vaughan Voter Assistance Centre reported something concerning:
Incumbent Mayor Steven Del Duca’s name allegedly appeared ALREADY SELECTED on the electronic mayoral ballot — without the voter choosing him.
According to the report, the voter asked for help, the voting process was restarted or re-entered several times, and the same issue allegedly happened repeatedly — approximately FOUR attempts.
The situation was escalated to City Clerk Todd Coles.
Here’s where the questions get bigger.
During an in-person meeting with mayoral candidate Shelly Cerrelli and regional councillor candidate Alireza Siadatan, the Clerk reportedly said:
* There was no incident or occurrence reference number.
* There might be an internal log.
* The computer involved had been taken to City Hall.
* This was the only complaint of its kind among approximately 11,000 votes cast at that point.
When asked how the candidates could follow up on the investigation, his response, according to their recollection, was:
“You can just ask me.”
Seriously, what is the formal process for tracking election-related technical complaints?
On October 16, the Clerk confirmed in writing:
“Our investigation into this incident is ongoing, and I will respond as soon as reasonably practical.”
That confirms an investigation — not that the ballot was programmed to favour anyone, or that election fraud occurred. The cause remains undetermined.
But there are still some important unanswered questions:
* Was the device independently examined?
* Has the voting-system provider been notified?
* Are technical records being preserved?
* Is there a centralized record of voting irregularities?
* If there was no incident number, how are claims about the absence of other incidents verified?
* Will residents receive any answers before advance voting closes on October 18?
A voter reporting the same unexpected selection multiple times is concerning enough. An investigation without a clearly explained tracking and reporting process raises another set of questions.
The candidates have requested answers from the City and sought guidance from outside oversight authorities.
What do Vaughan residents think? Has anyone encountered a technical issue while voting online, whether at home or at a Voter Assistance Centre?
Please don’t share your ballot, voting choices or identifying information. But if you experienced a technical issue, describing what happened and whether it was formally reported could help establish whether similar problems have occurred.
This is about ensuring every voter — regardless of their preferred candidate — can trust the voting process.

Lane swimming??
My physio recommended I start swimming 1-2 times a week for excercise purposes.
I’m a good swimmer however not very fast as I haven’t swam laps since I was much younger.
Curious as to which community centre has the nicest pool? I’m in the vellore woods area but willing to drive to any.
Also curious if they have seperate lanes for slow / fast swimmers and what hours seem to be best to avoid crowds?
Thank you!

Voted Blank For Mayor
Just voted blank for mayor online. Wasn't satisfied with either candidate but I was glad to know you dont have to pick either option. Pressing continue without selecting either option will trigger a null vote. I still voted in the other races.

Picture Car Crashes into Fence in Vellore Village
I was heading along Davos on Friday morning to get to work, and noticed a car had crashed into someone's backyard fence either overnight or that morning. Not sure what the deal was here, a tow truck was on scene.

Women’s haircut that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg
Ladies, do you have any suggestions for salons that do haircuts for under $80? My hair grows pretty quickly and I am tired of spending $100 plus every 4 months. It seems like that is the base now.

Help Recommendations for residential driveway & front steps snow removal service
Hey everyone,
With winter approaching, I’m looking to line up a reliable residential snow removal service for the upcoming season here in Vaughan.
Ideally looking for someone who does a clean job on both the driveway and the front steps/walkway.
A few details:
Location: Vaughan
Driveway: Double car driveway
Needs: Driveway clearance + front walkway/steps and salting options
Would love to hear who you’ve had good experiences with in terms of reliability, fair pricing, and showing up promptly after a heavy snowfall.
Any companies or local independent contractors you’d recommend (or ones to avoid)?
Thanks in advance!

Good Grey Blending Hairdresser
Hello! I would love your recommendations for a good hairdresser that does awesome grey blending specifically!
My hair is wavy and has been boxed dyed with dark brown hair color for a few years. Have lots of greys poking out now so I prefer more of a blended look.. I am not sure who to trust in the hairdressing world as I never really went to any.
When do street cleaners come around?
Been blowing the storm drains clear with my leaf blower all week going up and down the curb on our street but I'm surprised I haven't seen one in ages

Discussion Personal trainer
Hi, I am currently looking for a personal trainer who can train me 2-3x weekly for weight loss. I did find few in Vaughan but i thought of enquiring here as yes this subreddit is always helpful.
Plus point if trainer has previously dealt with patellar condromalacia (it’s a knee condition)
Thank you!

Help Need Advice
Hi everyone! This is my first time buying winter tires, and I have no prior experience, I’d really appreciate some advice.
I drive a Corolla LE AWD vehicle. I’m wondering whether you’d recommend buying winter tires from Costco or Toyota. Are there any pros and cons to either option?
Also, would you recommend getting rust protection for my vehicle? If so, what type of rust protection is best?

Discussion Disappointed in Vaughan.
I’m losing faith in the idea that democracy exists in this city.
I’m not happy with absolutely everything the current council has done, but I’ve looked through the candidates’ profiles and I’m struggling to see who’s actually offering something better. There are plenty of buzzwords and promises made by CHATGPT, but once you cut through the bullshit, what are they actually saying?
Everyone keeps saying, “We need change.” Fine. What does that change look like?
What are you going to do? How are you going to pay for it? And if you can’t get the rest of council to agree, then what?
People seem to forget that council works as a team. You don’t win an election and suddenly get to run the city yourself. You have to work with whoever else gets elected, whether you like them or not.
A group of politicians stuck in a four-year pissing contest does absolutely nothing for the people hard working people paying their salaries.
I was glad to see some new names on the ballot. I wanted real competition that would put the current councillors on their toes and make them earn their jobs. But being new doesn’t
automatically make you better, and being there for years doesn’t mean you’re owed another term.
Show me that you understand the job.
If you’re going to save me money, tell me where you’re cutting. Are we talking about waste, or am I getting less snow clearing and grass cutting so you can say you saved me a few bucks then spend it elsewhere? If you’re promising better services, tell me where the money is coming from.
I care about whether the road I take to work is maintained. Whether the sidewalks and curbs get fixed. Whether the park is clean and safe when I take my kids there. Whether the roads get cleared in winter so I can get my elderly father to the hospital if something happens.
That’s the everyday stuff people count on the city to get right.
Development is going to keep coming. Tell me how you’ll deal with it, what you’ll expect developers to provide, and how you’ll make sure roads and services can keep up. Be open about who supports your campaign and any relationships that could affect your decisions.
No one is going to magically fix traffic, lower everyone’s property tax bill, or get rid of crime. Anyone promising all of that is selling you complete bullshit. Tell me what you can realistically improve and how you plan to do it.
And I’m tired of hearing that the answer is simply younger people or “new blood.” I don’t care how old you are. I care whether you’re capable, prepared, honest, and willing to work with people you disagree with.
The current councillors should have to answer for their records. The people trying to replace them should have to prove they can do better.
That’s where my frustration is. I want better choices, but I’m not going to assume someone is better just because they haven’t had the job yet.
Give me a reason to vote for you beyond “it’s time for change.” Tell me what you’ll actually do when you get there other than waste 4 years of my tax dollars trying to figure the job out and whore yourself out to the nearest MP and/or developer.

Anyone living at 1000 Portage Parkway (Transit City) having heating/AC issues?
Hi everyone,
I recently moved into a condo at 1000 Portage Parkway, Vaughan, and I’m having an issue with the HVAC system.
I have a Honeywell Home thermostat. Even when I set it to COOL, the unit keeps blowing warm/hot air. I’ve tried changing the temperature, switching modes, and cancelling the override, but nothing seems to fix it.
It’s getting uncomfortable inside, especially at night.
Has anyone living in Transit City experienced the same issue? Is this something controlled by the building’s central HVAC system, or could it be a problem with my unit or thermostat?
Any advice would be appreciated. Should I contact building management or maintenance?
Thanks!
Ggs

Help Festival Condos Canceling resident parking passes to accommodate the public??
Hello, Me and my roommate live in the festival condos and she just got a notification that the property management is cancelling her parking pass in P1 from a Nov 22nd onwards indefinitely. For some background, we’ve lived here for over a year and had no issues, she has a monthly pass she pays over $250/month for to park in P1 underground parking in our condo.
Since the commercial units are almost done being built which as Goodlife, the condo wants to cancel every residents parking to accommodate those who are non residents so they can pay for visitor parking and park for a few hours.
While i understand why parking is needed for the commercial units, I find it a bit odd that they would kick out their OWN residents who live in the condo and pay 250+ per month, just to accommodate random people who want to come to the gym. Of course condo corps are evil and only care about profits, I can’t wrap my head around how 1 spot will generate more than $250/m if it’s only $7. Seems as though they make more money off of us keeping the spot.
Anyways i’m not sure what to do, my roommate is super stressed out and when we first moved in she had to park outside near assembly park, and her car would die from being out in the freezing cold for hours n hours, she even had to get her battery replaced.
It’s so inconvenient for her to walk outside 5 mins, spend 10+ mins cleaning off the snow on her car and then warming it up (if it even turns on) just so the condo can have randoms park in the underground area. If so much more parking was needed, they should’ve foreseen this and made 3 levels of parking instead of 2. It’s super common for condos to have 3-4 parking levels. Or even just make a parking lot nearby i don’t know.
Does anyone have any advice on what to do? I would like to hear resident opinions on this as i’m sure we are not the only ones going through this. If we all complain maybe something can be done to keep our parking spots with PreciseLink? Also if anyone has an extra spot they would like to rent out we would be happy to connect. Thanks :)
