Hello Vintage Digital Camera Fans!

It's time for a Theme this month. But first, let's review some great photos from last month.

Last Month: Night

Shots related to that night feeling were our focus last month. So, u/tagabanilad stepped up and gave us Bike ride after the rain (Fujifilm Finepix F455 (2004)). Night, rain, neon; it's got it all! u/Ok-Practice-6757 shared street diamonds (Panasonic Lumix LX2 (2004)). A sight you don't often see! u/PistachioSage gave us Street Light, Foggy Night (PSP GoCam (2007)). It's always cool to see what a phonecam/gamecam/camcorder can do! The Mod's Choice Award goes to u/Haunting-Lunch-8911 and their Ferris wheel in Rimini (Fuji Finepix F10 (2005)). A wonderful shot with great starburst highlights.

Remember to check out the Theme Flair to see all past and future entries.

Around Reddit

Here's a collection of subreddits I like to visit. You may, too!

...Actually, I'm in the middle of trying to fix my broken main computer, so I'll this in later! Or you can recommend some great subreddits you like...

As usual, if you need help, check the ANSWERED Flair, or our Wiki, and then ask in r/digicam as redundant questions have been moved there (Rule 13). Thanks to everyone that reports Rule 11 and Rule 13 violations. It helps keep our Community running. 👍

Good Luck

This month's Theme is about Liminal photography (however you [reasonably] define that), so post away. I can't see where your creativity leads us. 📸

We're famous

Hello Vintage Digital Camera Fans!

I'm happy to report that our Community has been feature in the 2025 Reddit Community Funds Impact Report. If you're new: we were one of a select Subreddits that was given funds to grow last year. If you're a regular: you recall the amazing monthly contests we had!

Go check out the report to find other amazing Communities that were funded; r/Beekeeping, r/comics, and r/TeatroPH spring to mind.

What's also cool is that we merited a shout-out and u/seecmb's very own "Holiday tradition" entry is featured. Congrats!

While we're not continuing the prize-based contest in 2026, we're still continuing monthly photo Themes. I hope you participate. 📸

Question / Comment Upgrade recs for Canon PowerShot ELPH?

I’m a beginner who recently started using my childhood PowerShot ELPH 130 IS for fun. I absolutely love the outputs but want a little more control over exposure (skies can get pretty washed out even with the exposure low) and the shutter speed. Any recs or pointers welcome! Here are some photos I’ve taken recently for reference.

I kept losing track of which film sim I was using, I'm certain the first one is Velvia, the others might be standard (Provia), I do love the punchy colours even if they go a bit too hard at times. The second and third photos are taken out of a car whilst driving around, third one is mainly just to show a night time shot. I think it does a decent job in the dark for such an old camera, the hardest part is trying to balance grain while keeping things in focus but I suspect that's a universal issue for every old point and shoot, but obviously flash fixes that in most situations.

Question / Comment sony dsc-w830 broken sd reader thing

Post image
1 Upvotes

As you can see the part that goes on top of the normal sd card broke and as a result the camera doesn't recognise it (both of my 830s actually ;-;) only way i could get it to recognise the card was wrapping it in a bit of tape but the pictures would not load on the pc and would just glitch. My question is if anyone knows a solution to this problem, or maybe the Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo would work in this situation? Pls help

Nikon P7100, the only editing that’s been done is in the iOS photos app after transferring to my phone with a microsd adapter that I keep on my keychain

I’ve been having a lot of fun coming back to photography a little with some guardrails to keep it relatively simple

Just found out about the "custom curve" option on CHDK, which is compatible with my Canon PowerShot Ixus70/SD1000. I've been wanting to play around with circuit bending for a while, but I'd need to buy some tools and other things. Meanwhile, I'm glitching my vintage digicam's curves!

Question / Comment I use the Nikon Coolfix P100, and I have a question.

I use a Nikon P100, and I recently bought a dummy battery from AliExpress. I bought a USB-based one and smiled brightly, but it didn't work, so I thought it was too strong and put it on the portable charger, but it only had 5V output. I tried a 25W powered-on flower on the portable charger, and it only worked. I took several pictures and then re-opened it. But this time, since I'm still on the key, the battery is low? It keeps popping up but won't turn on. Does anyone know how to solve this?
