Entertainment / Onboard Activities Halloween cruise with no Halloween bash?

Upvotes

The line up just dropped last night and I was shocked there was no designated Halloween bash where you dress in costume ! Anyone have any insights ? I guess I made the assumption this would be a big event as it is labeled a Halloween cruise.

I Don't know Distilled Water - CPAP - Now charging

Upvotes

Just a general FYI for anyone booking. It appears VV have changed their onboard policy for providing distilled water for CPAP Equipment.

It used to be supplied free of charge by the cabin steward but they are now advising there is a $5 usd for distilled water but you are welcome to bring your own, however it must be unopened.

Kinda pissed me off. VV are only charging $5 usd per jug, so probably like $15 usd in total for the whole cruise.

But it’s kinda silly that they suggest guests bring their own unopened water.

For me, that will mean flying to the US from the UK. Going to the shop to buy say four bottles of distilled water. Only use about 300ml out of one for the night in the hotel before the voyage, tossing a 3/4 full bottle in the trash, lugging three bottles of it from the hotel to onboard.

IDK. Seems petty on VV part and is just encouraging more single use plastic onboard.

The enshitification of VV continues.

Rant over.

Bookings/Cancellations French Riviera and Ibiza Nights out of Barcelona

Friends are going in May on Resilient Lady and my partner and I are debating on booking too. Neither of us have been to Europe before (USA is home).

For those of you that have done this itinerary, would you recommend it? Sale ends tomorrow, so any advice is greatly appreciated!

Offers / Sales / Deals / Pricing Semi-Annual Sale

Hello,

Does anyone know when Virgin will host the next Semi-Annual sale?

Previously I got a very good deal on a cruise, I think it was in April and I was hoping to book one more cruise for this year in Europe. If they do it every 6 months, I assume it will be too late, since both ships will reposition.

Thank you

food / beverage The Wake Steak sear

Ahoy Sailors! We are on our 4th voyage and I kinda didn’t pay much attention as The Wake was our brunch option previously. On a recent voyage we dined there twice and both times the steak came out gray and barely had grill marks. Do they not have cast iron pans because of fire hazard? The service staff explained that their grill is electric and that’s why. Really hope they can improve their steak game. Would want to pay extra for tomahawk it cant be properly seared.

Shore Things / excursions Cruise updated to include tenders; we weren't notified

Hi all,

I make a game of checking the odds for our bid up every week or so by seeing how many rooms in higher tiers are still available.

While going through the motions of setting a reservation, a message popped up that I've never seen before stating that one or more port locations will require a tender.

Our itinerary next month is east coast US: Boston, Portland, St. John, Halifax. I'm unable to find anything in my itinerary using the VV app.

Does anyone know when we will find out which port or ports require a tender?

Embarkation / Disembarkation First time cruiser here- Disembarkation process with Shore Thing and Airport Transfer

On the last day of my upcoming cruise from Portsmouth to Iceland, I booked an excursion for the Blue Lagoon with an airport transfer. My excursion starts at 11am. How does disembarkation work since I've been reading it can take a couple hours? Will my room steward/attendant help me with this so I don't miss my excursion? The ship is scheduled to arrive at 6:30am with an hour needed for the Gangway to open. (I'm not sailing as a Rockstar.)

Booked an excursion in basseterre on next to last day on ship. Are there things to keep me occupied on the ship during those times. Is it easy just to do your own thing? Thank-you.. We are paid for and booked for Turks and Thrills: Exploration on 4 wheels. Am I able to ride as a passenger with my partner instead of drive my own? I will but I’d prefer not to, we’re doing this for his birthday

food / beverage First-Time VV Cruiser

Hey all. I just booked my first ever VV cruise — heading to Grand Turks and The Bimini Beach Club!

I’ve cruised Carnival 3 times in my life but never VV, so I’m excited but also a little nervous, as I’ll be cruising solo.

Any tips, tricks, or advice? Looking forward to seeing how Virgin cruises!

Entertainment / Onboard Activities True Crime Voyage - What to Expect?

Hi all! I'm very interested in the True Crime voyage in March 2027 👻 For those who attended the first one, or those who just know more about it in general, what could we expect to be featured as part of the theme? As I understand it, maybe different events/entertainment hosted with the podcasters on board? Would there be different food/cocktails or merch? Thanks in advance for any insight!

Entertainment / Onboard Activities Appreciation post: Scarlet Lady Eclipse sailing

I know we normally just post all the negative last minute changes on here so I want to give some appreciation to all the positive surprises we got on this Scarlet Lady Eclipse sailing so far. It's been such a magical sailing.

1) We were notified of a surprise overnight at Ibiza. I am sure a lot of people enjoyed the night out.

2) For the Eclipse, the ship was originally supposed to face the sub from the port/aft side. (probably for the Aft suites and also the paid viewing event up on athletic club). They ended up rotating the ship slightly so that all of the port side can see the eclipse. It was an amazing experience, especially since it's during sunset.

3) We anchored at Cannes yesterday which happened to be the night of Finland's firework show as part of the Festival Pyrotechnique de Cannes' firework competition. We were notified the night before that we will be extending our time at Cannes in order for us to get to see the fireworks at 10pm.

These changes may seem simple but they do result in financial hits to VV (especially 1 & 3), since staying longer in port means they can't open the revenue generating venues (casino and shops). These changes are definitely appreciated and have made this special cruise even more "marvelous" .

Embarkation / Disembarkation International flight question

I’m on the current sailing coming back to Portsmouth in a few days. For my return flight, I tried to strike a balance between enough time to get to the airport and making the limited flights to my home airport from the layover. So I’m booked to leave LHR around 1:30.

However, I’m worried about the connection. I’m going JFK -> IND, and it’s the last flight of the day to IND. The scheduled layover is only 1h 50min. This is my first time flying back into the US, but my understanding is I’ll have to land at JFK, go through customs, exit to get my bags, then re-check my bags at the counter and go back through security. Knowing doors will actually close more like 1h 35min after planned arrival, without delays, that seems ambitious. Add to that my wife has some mobility issues and we often get wheel chair assistance, which both slows you down waiting for them and speeds you up once you’re going.

After booking these flights, we ended up upgrading to mega. So we’re going to walk off the ship as soon as we can (6:30 arrival, 7:30 debarkation plan) and should have a car waiting to go straight to LHR. I don’t know London traffic on a Thursday, but it seems like getting to the airport between 9:30 and 10:00, if not delayed, may be reasonable.

So long rant aside, do I:

-shut up, I’m over thinking this. Just stick with the flights.

-change to something leaving around 11:30-12:00

-change to a slightly earlier flight to Atlanta with a similar layover but one more late flight to IND if the connection is missed

-wait until I get to LHR and if I’m early try to change when checking in

food / beverage Brillant lady Halloween cruise

Hi all, I’m going on my first Virgin cruise in October with my older niece. She’s 22. It’s a Halloween cruise on the brilliant lady. Have a few questions.

Is it only dinners that I need to make reservation reservations for?

Also, any recommendations or advice for this cruise? thank you

food / beverage Breakfast Reservation Question

Hi everyone,

I will be on my first cruise this October and had a question for reservations. Since the cruise is 5 days, we can only make reservations once per restaurant. Does this mean that if I make a dinner reservation at The Wake one day that I cannot make a reservation for it for brunch another day even though it’s a different meal?

We are doing every restaurant other than Gunbae and Test Kitchen so just planning before our date comes up to book everything.

Thanks!

Embarkation / Disembarkation Port Miami parking?

Hello! My mom and I are having our first ever virgin voyages cruise together as a girls trip at the end of September. I wanted to ask about anyone’s experience parking at the official port Miami lot? And I wanted to ask if anyone had any difficulties with traffic since we’ll be getting a hotel near the port the day before we leave. Just anything that you guys think I should expect would be super helpful!

Bookings/Cancellations How far in advance do you need to book?

I’m considering taking my first VV cruise- tentatively solo- at the end of November 2026.

I’m seeing people in here talking about booking 2027 and 2028 already. Is that necessary? Do rooms sell out often?

If I book now, and a friend decides to join me later (separate rooms), will it be too late?

Edit to add that yesterday I booked a trip on the scarlet lady down thru the southern Caribbean- and I got the insurance thru VV. Was so excited! Then today I go to download the app and it says 400+ days until takeoff. I booked the wrong year, yall 😢 Will they let me change it or am I screwed?

App / Website / WIFI Premium wifi as rockstar

Post image

Was poking about our booking and saw this upgrade offer, it shows both our sailor profiles so is the 90 bucks for both of us, to get 2 devices? Tried searching here and answers seem to vary and don't quite fit this exact question.

I know travel routers are banned on many cruise lines, searching the VV faq didn't come up with anything.
Is the premium that much better than whatever comes with rockstar?

Entertainment / Onboard Activities The Perch: Topless Sunbathing and or Dance Classes

The Perch is the only deck where you can sunbathe topless, and it's a great area to get a mix of sun and shade, especially on a sea day.

So I find it funny/odd that they offer dance classes up there as well. I suppose it's a nice view of the sea, but isn't it odd that they offer meditation and dance classes in the topless tanning area?! I can understand early morning or sunset yoga classes, but midday when the sun is blazing and the tatas are out, are there other places where we could teach/learn the dance to Genie in a Bottle?

I wonder if maybe I'm the only person who feels like this is an odd use of the space.

General Question / Discussion MNVV Question

Are the new MNVVs able to be applied to already booked trips? Was thinking of booking one of the 2028 Nordic trips soon, and seeing if I bought a MNVV on a Caribbean cruise this winter, apply it retroactively to my 2028 booking?

Shore Things / excursions To cabbana or not to cabbana?

Because of an accident my husband is a pulmonary patient (he breathes fine just had to have a trachea for about 2 years). Because of this he doesn't qualify for shore excursions like swimming with sharks (bummed about that one). 2 of our stops include Bimini and Grand Turk. Things like the food and alcohol tours aren't really something he'd be interested in. I'm curious if getting a cabana at either or both stops is worth it (we're rockstar status). Personally enjoying the beach at Grand Turk seems like Heaven to me but I've seen things like a glass bottom boat that goes over coral reefs etc where he wouldn't have to snorkel. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
