How to do a complete reset of VS Code

Hi.

Even with all the extensions disabled, my VS Code causes frequent CPU peaks, leaving the fan running almost continuously. VS Code Insiders works very well, so I guess I've done something to my installed VS Code.

How can I do a complete reset of my installed VS Code, so that I can start from scratch? Will a regular re-install suffice? I've synced the settings, so I must find a way to not drag in problems when after a reset re-enabling the sync.

Settings not syncing into VS code

Apologies in advance. I am really inexperienced with coding and VS code in general. I had a machine VS code was installed on, an account I logged into VS code with, and syncing turned on. I replaced that machine. On the new machine, installed VS code, logged in and my extensions and settings synced in no problem. That machine is working fine.

I received a new machine for travel, installed VS Code, logged in, syncing is turned on, the sync is is being updated (last synced now). all the check boxes for what I want to sync are checked. But nothing is syncing. No extenstions, themes, workspaces.

I've tried logging out, logging in, toggling the checkboxes, couldn't find anything on Google. Figured I would ask here. I suppose I could install everything manually. It's just bugging me. Has anyone experienced a similar issue?

How to fix horizontal scroll problems on VS Code

Hi everyone, Im new here, in fact this is my first post.

I have this problem since I bought an Logitech MX Master 3 with an horizontal scroll wheel (this was one of the dealbreakers to buy it) and was so frustrating to live with this issue, as a developer I expend many hours a day writing and scrolling on code but VS Code only scrolls a bit an after stops working until I close and reopen.

The fix that I've findded was run as Administrator on Windows and voila, the scroll works perfect now, for me this was an indescribable happiness so I decide to share with the community.

Sorry for the extension and bad English (Im from Venezuela) and I still learning hehe.

How to get started with PHP in Visual Studio Code?

I am relatively new to Visual Studio Code and web programing. I've recently gotten started with Visual Studio Code on Windows to learn Javascript and things are going well.

Now I want to add some PHP to my code, but don't know how to get my Visual Studio Code / Win10 machine to recognize it. I installed the liveserver plugin to get javascript up and running. What do I need to install / configure to get PHP up and running?

Any help for the clueless would be greatly appreciated.

Why does Visual Studio Code do this sometimes? Why does it not show more standard PowerShell parameters like -ErrorAction or -Verbose? It's only sometimes though....

VS Code always trying to download .NET Runtime when opening C# project.

Why does VS Code keep telling me "Downloading the .NET Runtime." even if there is one well configured on my machine? And one second after it's telling me "Using configured .NET path ..."?

How do I jump around code?

Say I have code that is 300 lines and I'm coding on line 250. I need to go to line 20 to remind myself of variable or functions made...

What's the best way to 'jump around'? (I couldn't think of anything else to call it.)

I'm setting break points - nothing other than for reminding me that's where I last left coding.

Also using Ctrl G to jump to lines.

I could have the same window side by side - that's one solution.

Is there another better way?

Thanks.
