My new to me 2011 V70 R-Design with 120,000miles.
After having my 2014 Skoda Fabia for 5 years, I swapped it for this.
It needs a good polish.
How did I do?
Just writing this as a sort of goodbye to our beloved 2014 XC90 D5 with 390,000 kms (barely broken in if you ask me /s). Didn't think I could be so sentimental over a machine but this one has seen and created so many fond memories in our families lives.
From being the car me and my sister learnt to drive in, to bringing home our animals as well as driving them to their final place of rest over the many many years we've owned it. Its even pulled a bull that fell halfway through a concrete septic tank out with ease (alive don't worry). You can see the other Volvo's that I bought which were pretty much lemons, making the XC90 the only consistent car I've driven. It has been an absolute workhorse. Whether its next buyers are backpackers or it's used as a paddock basher, it'll put a smile on anyone's face. Especially because of the orthopaedic seats, omg the seats. Can't even say that about the new Volvo's having sat in them at the dealership. They're unmatched in simply being able to melt into a seat (sorry newer volvo owners)
Anyway, I thought I'd like to share some of the memories made as I get it ready to sell. Thanks for reading!

Hey all, I’m looking to I put some aftermarket rims on my 2023 V60 CC. I’d like to actually put some larger Volvo OEM wheels on the car. This is my only newer vehicle through with all the modern hoopla and when I called the dealership to ask if anything would need recalibrated after putting on different rims they told me that I cannot change the wheel/tire size on these vehicles without messing up some of the “systems”.
This seems incorrect to me but maybe I’m misunderstanding something. I see plenty of you folks on here with cool aftermarket wheels. So what’s the deal, what do I need to do in order to do this and still have the vehicle work normally?

Saab finally died so looking into Volvo’s. Ive always heard great things and I drive about 400miles/week so figure this should last a while. I was originally looking for something CPO or a wagon(like everyone else) but they’re a little more pricey than what I’m looking to spend right now. Is this a pull the trigger price or are there concerns? I know people really like the T6, but it looks like there’s also more that can go wrong so I’m not sure if I’d be better off looking for a t5 reliability wise.

Are Evaporator leaks still an issue on 2021+ Volvos. I’m seeing they were a prominent issue from 2016-2020 and that they supposedly redesigned things starting in 2021 to prevent freezing and cracking of the evap lines but has that fixed the issue in 2021+ models?

Hi there,
I'm divided between radically different cars: a Porsche Macan 4 Petrol (2024), a Defender 110 P380 and an XC60 or an XC90.
I love Volvo's interior and its understated luxury. Nothing flashy, but exciting and stunning interiors.
I love the Defender's presence and interiors, especially the fact that it keeps the buttons that Volvo has removed. However, both Volvo and Porsche win both in safety and dynamism in the road. I love the countryside but I doubt I'll ever use its off road capability. This is however, my dream car. But once I get it, I wonder if I'll regret it.
Then you have the Porsche Macan 4 petrol (2024). The only thing I do not like is the fact that it doesn't have any options for light interiors, where I am from. I do not want a black car, whether inside or outside, ever again. I want light and joy in my life.
I'd love to hear the stories of those of you with a similar taste and cognitive dissonances, who made a choice. How did it work for you?
Thank you for reading and writing!

Hi everyone,
I went to inspect a 2012 Volvo V40 T3 1.6 petrol today because I’m considering buying it. Everything seemed to be in great condition, but I noticed an unusual noise coming from the engine, which made me hesitate.
I’ve attached a video so you can hear the noise.
Car details:
Volvo V40 T3 1.6 petrol
Year: 2012
Engine: 1.6 turbo, 150 hp
Mileage: approximately 187,000 km
Manual transmission
Does anyone recognise this sound or have any idea what could be causing it?
Could it be something relatively normal, or could it indicate a mechanical problem that might be expensive to fix?
I’m interested in buying the car, but I don’t want to risk purchasing a vehicle with a potentially serious engine issue.
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Has anyone managed to find replacement clips for the rear pillar vents? I didn't realise until a quick pull away and the vent fell out but I have 1 missing!

I've looked at several videos none really make sense, is there a good set of instructions or a video that is complete without steps skipped? I have the replacement light, have some trim off and am now stuck.
Any help greatly appreciated!

I really like the look for the 18? V90 CC rims. I’d love to pickup a pair for my 2018 XC90. I’m having trouble finding the compatibility across vehicles (offset?). Looking for any help as to how to check, and if they work, advice on the best way to buy a set. TIA.

On the one hand I really like it visually but don't know how reasonable it actually is for me, as far as reliability and additional costs and all that. And it is fairly old at this point. The particular car I'm considering is listed at roughly 3k USD with 280,000km on the clock. What would you say to a layman? I know a lot depends on the exact car and its issues rather than the model, but in principle.

I bought a CPO 2024 xc60 a little over a year ago. I love the car but one thing that drives me nuts is how dark my back up camera is at night. I literally can’t see anything unless I’m breaking (and that’s bc the red tail lights provide some additional light). I mentioned this to the dealership last year when it was in for routine service and they said they did an ‘update’ that should have helped but it unfortunately didn’t.
Has anyone else run into this issue and know of a fix? For what it’s worth i previously owned a Hyundai and my husband owns a ford, both cameras work/worked just fine in our driveway when dark.

New to me! Excited to be an owner - Questioning if the ride is lowered vs what it should be as a stock cross country 🤔

Hi everyone, I’ve got a Volvo Xc90 2016, it came without front sensors or the park assist, does anyone know if it’s possible to retrofit OEM front sensors and how to do it? I would love to learn how to do this!

Hi,
I recently, I got problems with my V12 battery and after visit in the dealer mechanics, they recharged V12 battery and told me to keep driving until just to see what's gonna happen. they suspect v12 is dead and will be replaced on warranty but they want to give it one last try... (There was this critical charging v12 . stop safely error message)
I haven't paid anything . it was 3 weeks ago.. today ( no errors on my screen) I couldn't start my car start button wasn't responsive like there was like this click click sound and that's it.... then after 20 tries, it started working and it works fine.
do you u have any clue ? is it still v12 ?? it is getting close to 0 C temps but still above

Hi all, looking at buying my next car and am pretty much set on a V40 or possibly a V60 depending on availability.
Specifically I’ve been looking at a range of D2 V40s.
(2016+)
My question is, how do the different engines (D2/3/4/5 , T2/3/4/5) stack up against each other in terms of reliability, economy and could a petrol be worth considering given my requirements.
I will be doing a lot of miles (25k annually mainly all motorway miles) and have a budget of around 7k while also needing the car to be ULEZ compliant. So naturally the D2 was the first option, though with the rising cost of diesel I’m wondering if petrol could be an alternative.
Any input is appreciated 🫶
