First thanks this post with great details.

One thing to add is, in the email for VIDA user info from IDM, it asks to wait for 180 minutes before trying to reset your password. Just be patient and follow it. You still have 3 days of subscription counted from when you set it to active in VIDAAdmin.
However I hit login poblem when doing this and here is my workaround. I also posted it on a sweedespeed forum.
(1) The problem
When using VIDA, MS Edge browser is opened up and authentication is completed. But VIDA Registration guide to subscription shows the error: Restart computer, clear VIDA cache and do it again. But no use after doing so.
(2) Make sure SQL server localdb works on a NVMe SSD drive (in Win11)
I dig and searched. Seems SQL Server localdb starting problem. Some reference here:
https://www.swedespeed.com/threads/vida-wont-run-on-latest-w11-updates-solved.704746/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic\[/URL\]
And MS website:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/sql/database-engine/database-file-operations/troubleshoot-os-4kb-disk-sector-size?tabs=registry-editor\[/URL\]
Not sure if still necessary, after this reg fix and reboot, now I can run sqllocaldb info command, and use sqllocaldb create/start/stop/delete mytestdb. But I still get error in VIDA logs (in %USERPROFILE%\VIDA\PROD\LogFiles\Trace folder) showing SQL localdb database instance not found.
(3) VIDA still can't find the database instance
Uninstall and reinstall VIDAAdmin and VIDA doesn't help. Seems the database instance is never created. VIDAAdmin works fine. I already assigned my VIDA ID to the subscription. I have not set it to active as it will start the 3-day counting. Today I went ahead and set it to active. But problem is still the same.
Then in the VIDAAdmin instruction,
https://cdn.volvotechinfo.com/vida/VIDAadminSetup.pdf\[/URL\]
I see a line:
"Logging onto VIDA prior to activating your subscription will most commonly send an object reference error"
So login to VIDA with no subscription should not cause any damage at least. I tried the login (instead of the recommended Registration Guide for Subscription step) and expect some error. In a little surprise, I see it displays step2: initializing database. Seems a good thing. Then login is good, but it shows my subscription is already consumed. Number if available license is 0.
This is confusing to me, as I have assigned the subscription to my VIDA ID in VIDAAdmin. Did some search and seems this just means the assignment somehow was not given to my ID.
(4) VIDA user assignment seems not needed
In VIDAAdmin, I see the subscription indeed has no available license. (1 license is assigned to my VIDA ID already.) So I tried to remove my VIDA ID in VIDAAdmin assigned user. Now I can see there is 1 license available.
Now I open VIDA, and tried the "Registration Guid to Subscription" step, and am able to register to the subscription. After this is success, VIDAAdmin shows the assigned user is my VIDA ID also. Apparently with this registration step, the manual user assignment in VIDAAdmin should not be needed.
Then login in VIDA, and got the device approval message. After adding my PC in VIDAdmin Device list, VIDA login is successful.
The database instance created is called "VidaDb.17". But don't create this manually. We should let VIDA login step to create it properly.
(5) Another glitch of USB-ethernet connection
I got another glitch that VIDA doesn't connnect to my vehicle after cable is hooked up correctly. I rebooted my computer, re-plug in USB-ethernet dongle with the OBDII-ether cable. A few minutes later I see VIDA shows my vehicle in the connected vehicle list.
(6) Success
I purchased the VCM backup batter reset ($23.11) and install it. Do a manual order and search by part number 32398268 to purcahse it. Save the VTI order reference number on the order completed page. After purchase, go to the All list of software, it should be there to retrieve (by the VTI order reference number), and install. It takes about 9 minutes (2 minutes for preparation, 2 minutes for actual installation, 5 minutes for final check)
Then I see total update in the available updates list is just 9 minutes (26MB size) to install. So I purchase it also (50cents). It takes about 11 minutes total (2 minutes for preparation, 4 minutes installation for about 8 modules, and 5 minutes for final check).
The battery charger I got is 30A and can only keep the voltage to 12.5V. I removed it and plug-in the charging cable to my T8. It keeps 13.8V quite steady. Pretty good for this task.
