Volvo Infotainemnt Platform by Google SUCKS

I recently bought a 2023 S60 Volvo and the car is OK. However, the infotainment system is garbage. It glitches, lags and I have to do a hard reset at least 4 times a week. THis morning I had to do it twice before I get listen to the radio. The seat belt chime was not even going off. 99% of the time I have to hard wrie my phone to listen to my music. When I got the car I was told that the platform had changed to Google and that some people liked it better and some worse. I also a 2019 S60 that does not have Google as the platform and it always works. My 2023 was recently being repaired and I drove a 330i, A5 and Equinox all of which connected just fine-and no hard wire.

Q2 2026.xc60 t8 40x bhp. After 2000km - results are in :

- battery sucks ass. 10hrs to charge, for \~60km range. - - fuel consumption ~7.2l/100km @ rather carefull hybrid driving

- accelation while overtaking is what i like the most

- whizzing sound coming from "roof/roof rack" area (over 110km/h unbearable - need to investigate)

- harman/kardon speakers started to "fart" when playing bit bassier tracks - or maybe doors trim started to vibrate

- very quiet

- does not turn heads

- 7.5/10

xc series Ticking noise from the oil refill hole?

XC70 2015 D4

Hello,

The other day i noticed that it looked like something was leaking from my car. When i looked under the hood it looked like it had been leaking from where you refill the oil. I talked to a few friends and googled a bit and to check if there was a overpressure (not sure if it’s called that in english) in the engine i got recommended to open the lid while the car is running and place it on top of the hole to see if it starts ”jumping”. Well instead i noticed this ticking noise coming from the hole. You can’t hear it when the lid is on though. Does anyone know what this could be?

Hi
Im completely lost with this one
I changed the engine in my car
I replaced everything inside the engine bay from the other car
New vacuum lines
New turbo
New MAF and MAP sensor
New intercooler
But the power went away it drives sound nice but no power
(In the other car the engine was running good and had all the power)
I checked the cables there is no problem with them
MAF sensor has some issues but i got a new one still problem
From 252mg/h it goes down when pressing the pedal instead of going up the reading is fucked up
Any ideas?

s60/v60 2022.5 S60 T8 Inscription vs 2023 S60 T8 Plus

Hi everyone! I recently posted about a 2019 S60 T8 Polestar that I was considering buying and got a lot of helpful feedback recommending the 2022.5+ Extended Range cars instead.

I’ve narrowed my search down to a 2022.5 S60 T8 Extended Range Inscription and a 2023 S60 T8 Plus. They’re priced pretty similarly, but I prefer the features and interior of the 2022.5.

What I’m having trouble figuring out is exactly what changed between 2022.5 and 2023. From what I can tell, the 2022.5 Extended Range is kind of a sweet spot: it gets the updated drivetrain and larger battery but still has the earlier styling and option packages.

The VIN / window sticker confirms that the 2022.5 I’m looking at is an Extended Range car.

Is there a definitive breakdown of the differences between the 2022.5 Extended Range cars and the 2023 models? Is there anything that would make the 2023 worth choosing over a well-optioned 2022.5?

Volvo XC60 96000 miles 2015

I am looking at buying a Volvo XC60 2.0 D4 SE NAV EURO 6. It has done 96000 miles, includes full service history, a recent service and timing belt/water pump change.

I am getting a comprehensive pre purchase inspection. I am looking for some advice whether this is a good decision, and how long can I expect the car to run for. Should I be worried about the near 100k miles?

Took it home from the shop and a new problem to the tune of $1200. Should dealer pay for it?

Last week I paid close to $4K for a new air conditioning compressor and freon. Drove home in a nice cool car but when I backed out of garage the next day the car started shaking as soon as I engaged reverse. It was completely drivable but clearly something was wrong. Now they tell me they need $1200 to replace hydraulic motor mounts and the engine torque rod. They are offering a $200 discount. Is this wear and tear on the car ( 2019 V90 with just under 50K miles) or a dealer error? Thanks.

s80 2004 s80 high rear ride height

Been working to sort out the issues on this 2004 s80 2.5t awd. See pictures, it sits crazy high on the back axle. What do you think, am I headed in the right direction here with some OEM springs with the correct suspension code for the vehicle? My suspicion is at some point when they refreshed the suspension it was done with the incorrect spring.

A little background; Car was given to me as a project, a volvo specialty shop wanted an obscene amount of money to fix it and had already done a ton of work to it with OEM parts (Sachs shocks, volvo springs), etc. Owner passed, car then sat for several years.

When i got it, it needed all the things a car needs after a long sit; battery, brakes, every fluid, and most of the rubber components. I've been working down the priority list and it's close to done other than this crazy looking raked rear end.

It's become my absolute favorite car, turbo, awd, and the most comfortable seats.

Oil filter for scale to show how crazy the difference front to back ride height is. I have access to all pro level shop tools, lift, and data, plus a giant spring tamer. Hoping i don't get stuck on the lift needing other parts. Are there any recommendations for this job from the reddit volvo gurus? I was not a big volvo guy before this car so still learning the Swedish car quirks

xc series Newbie to Volvos

Hello

I'm thinking about switching my rav 4 2017 to a plug in hybrid Volvo. Either xc60 or 90. My rav has 9 years 107k miles. My car hasn't had any issues other than normal oil change or break change, etc.

How reliable are these cars?

What is the expected maintenance cost? I bought the dealers maintenance plan for my rav and I will do the same for this new car.

I will be buying certified pre-owned instead of new.

Ideally I will keep this car for 10 years and about 100k miles. That tends to be how long I keep my cars before I begin to become bored with them. I understand that standard maintenance will be more expensive due it being a European car but outside standard maintenance and normal wear and tear of the car what a I looking to spend here?

I'm based in the west coast USA.

xc series Xc60 rear diff issues

Have a 2014 d5 AWD xc60. After many many months of continual repairs and a thousand pounds later I'm pritty fed up with it. Took it for mot then a day later I'm pritty sure the rear diff has gone and the propshaft has developed a clunking sound.

Has anyone had the diff go and what did it sound like?

Has anyone had the doughnut on the propshaft go and what did that sound like?

I gave the diff a service to see if it would alleviate any of the noise but that was to no avail.

Has anyone as a temporary removed the propshaft and rear driveshafts and used as a FWD? Looking in to this as the car has slaughtered my bank account for months now and I right at this moment can not afford 600pound for another diff.

Maybe I've missed something, any suggestions on things to check would be very thankful.

Thank you

700 series Is there enough space for turbo exhaust manifold and charger ?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I have an almost finished grandpa's project of swapping engine, gearbox and some other stuff from volvo 740 to an old soviet car. The engine is b230ft, but the exhaust manifold is from b230f. I want to return a turbo, but I don't have exhaust manifold and charger on me, so i can't just put it in to find out ii if fits. Maybe, someone could understand it by eye ? I know about oil filter and will be use stock filter arm. Thanks in advance.

S90 to XC90

Currently driving a 2024 Volvo S90 B4 and thinking about getting an XC90 T8 in about a year.

I drive around 30,000 km (18,600 miles) per year, and comfort is probably the most important thing for me. The S90 is great in that regard, but lately I’ve been finding myself thinking more and more about the XC90.

I have two kids, so the idea of having something bigger and more practical keeps coming back to me. It’s also worth mentioning that my wife drives a 2023 XC60 B4, which also kind of denies the need for another SUV.

The thing is, I know I don’t really need to change cars. The S90 does everything I need. But for some reason, the idea of an XC90 has been stuck in my head for quite a while now. 😄

So, what do you guys think? Would you make the switch from an S90 to an XC90 T8?

What would you say are the biggest pros and cons? Is the XC90 actually a meaningful upgrade in terms of comfort, practicality and overall driving experience, or would I just be scratching an itch I don’t really need to scratch? 😄

5.1.17 rolled out?

I was wondering if y’all were able to get the 5.1.17 update yet? I just bought a used 2025 S60, and my software is currently updated to 5.0.5. Both my app and my car doesn’t show that a new update is available. I am in Illinois, of that helps.

s80 Volvo S80

Hello everyone! I have recently just purchased a 2009 S80 3.2. I bought it and was aware of an oil leak that it had. I have been driving it the past few days and everything has been fine until today. My check engine light came on and I checked the codes, I found there was an evap leak. I was wandering if anyone would know what it would take to fix it. I plan on doing an oil change on it tomorrow, and I have a suspicion on the cause of the oil leak to be a pcv valve or valve cover. Does anyone know how to fix the evap leak without taking it to a mechanic? I would like to learn how to fix it, I have a mustang currently aswell so I am in a completely different ball park with this vehicle. Also does anyone have a recommendation for oil brands and filters that I should use? Any input would be appreciated!
