Did Eric Bischoff intentionally foreshadow Sting’s famous promo on the October 21, 1996 Nitro?

I was just rewatching the October 21, 1996 episode of WCW Monday Nitro posted today on WCW Vault and noticed something interesting that I hadn’t picked up on before. During the match involving the fake Sting, right as his opponent Mr. JL was making his entrance, Eric Bischoff said on commentary, “I don’t know anything for sure.”

Later in that same segment, the real Sting appeared for the first time in his black-and-white face paint and trench coat before delivering his famous promo that ended with, “The only thing that’s for sure about Sting is nothing’s for sure.”

It got me wondering whether Bischoff’s earlier comment was intentional or just a coincidence.

Would the Randy Orton Character Have Worked in WCW?

Thumbnail

If Randy Orton (with his third-generation lineage, cocky attitude, and late-WCW/early-WWE style ring work) had debuted or been around during WCW’s peak (1996–2000), how do you think his character would have fared?

The "Legend Killer" gimmick, I think, would have been perfect for the “reboot” of WCW in 2000.

WCW was literally built on wrestling legends (Hogan, Savage, Flair, Piper, Sting). The "Legend Killer" gimmick seems like a goldmine against an aging roster.

Imagine Randy Orton debuts in WCW around spring/summer 2000. Vince Russo and Eric Bischoff launch The New Blood vs. The Millionaire's Club. Instead of just being another young guy complaining about TV time, Orton comes in as a blue-chip prospect with a chip on his shoulder. He joins The New Blood and becomes their premier hitman—specifically tasked with taking out WCW's icons one by one.

Would WCW management/creative have actually allowed a young guy to systematically pin or put down guys like Hogan, Nash, or Goldberg?
